Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

One of the types of threads I've always started in a forum: The Horror Games Thread. This is where you simply discuss your favorite and most hated games of survival, psychological, and whatever else horror there is. What gave you nightmares as a child? What kept you up all night, hiding under your sheets with the lights on? Release your inner child of the night~! -insert cheesey Dracula laugh here-

As a starting post, I don't want it to be rather boring, so I'll just post some of my top fives in a few categories. <_>

My Favorite Horror Games: These games made me come back and play MOAR. Now, this is my oppinion, so nyeh. I love these games to death, no matter how much some people may badmouth them.

5. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

Now, some people don't consider this game to be scary. That's because they're either too stupid to be affected by Cthulhu's madness, or graphic eye candy whores. Anywho, the game carries a deep, dark plot, based off of H.P. Lovecraft's twisted stories. Now, I love H.P. Lovecraft. So much that one of my characters is named after the infamous Arkham Asylum from his Mythos. Screw you, Batman, H.P. Lovecraft had the name first. D<

-ahem-

You traverse through many unique locations, trying to uncover the secrets of Innsmouth, all while trying to keep your sanity. That's actually quite harder than it sounds. I love this game, simply because it's the only Call of Cthulhu video game of its plot, and for those seeking a deep, confusing plot, you might enjoy this game, too.

4. The F.E.A.R. Series

Many people don't consider F.E.A.R. that scary. They're also very stupid, and only play it because it's a first person shooter, so they think it's like Call of Doodie. Anywho, I enjoy the F.E.A.R. series because of its heavily inspired atmosphere of Japanese horror. Random psychological attacks, creepy girl with long hair, the works. I can be considered even stupider, because I only play it 'cuz of Alma. Alma is the creepy little girl who stalks you, and she has psychokinetic powers. She likes to [radio edit] with your mind. :B

3. Forbidden Siren

Fear the Call of Datatsushi. It turns you into a zombie minion or whatever. D:

Anywho, Forbidden Siren is a stealth-based survival horror game, set in Japan. You, with a group of other people, must solve the mystery (and resist the call of) the Forbidden Siren. It has a confusing plot (which me likey), was made by some of the people who helped develop the Silent Hill series, and an M. Night Shayamalan tweest, and more. Oh, and another thing, the Shibito (the zombie people) don't stay dead. I suggest looking behind you right now.

2. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem

This game really messes with your head. Although not technically considered part of the horror genre, the psychological mess that is within the game will really screw with you. 'Nuff said.

1. The Silent Hill Series
This was very obvious. The Silent Hill fanatic just lurvs his Silent Hill, now don't he?

Foggy, lonely town, random demonic creatures, places no person would like to visit, and more. So much I could explain, but way too lazy to. Go buy a game and experience it yourself! >:U

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Games That Scared the Crap Out of Me: FEEEEEEEEEAR. These games scared me to the point of where I literally stopped playing the thing and returned it to the place I rented it from. D:
5. Fatal Frame Series
You're some Japanese chick, trapped in a haunted mansion in Japan, armed with some holy camera. There are tons of ghosts wandering around, and the only way to harm them is take their ugly, creepy mugshot with the camera. Easier said than done for someone like me. I scream in fear in frigging' Halo when sniping, and some random dude's face pops up into my scope.
Yeah. Moving on.
4. Penumbra Series
You're some guy wandering around an abandoned Earth. Some infection has turned every living thing into some sort of zombie thing. In the second game of the Penumbra series, Black Plague, you encounter the first human infected. He looks like an alien, he's naked, and he carries some blue light that looks like a butt probe. Honestly, despite how ridiculous the bastard looks, he still scares me. You have to be stealthy in this game, or its the probe for you. D:
3. Resident Evil 4
This game? Scary to me? HAH. I honestly finished this game proudly, but there were a few parts I refuse to play out ever again. The Garradors (blind claw dudes) scared the SHIT out of me. I can't imagine some pretty boy American toting a shotgun being quiet. It literally took me an HOUR to finally find the courage to screw this bastard up.
Next scary part, the Regenerators and the Iron Maiden. Everyone hates fighting them. Everyone. They're like something out of Silent Hill, just cleaned up a bit. D:
And don't get me started on old man Saddler's viagra problem. Hope that didn't really spoil what happened. >x>
2. Dead Space Series
I [radio edit]ING HATE NECROMORPHS. HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE THEM.
Honestly, when I first played this game, I thought it was like any horror game. Shot the first necromorph guy in the head and decapitated him. He STILL moved. Apparently, you had to MUTILATE the bastard. Now, I can't do that when there's a horde of them chasing after me. I didn't even finish the first game.
Now, a friend of mine made me play the second game. From the start...
Let's just say, I was screaming like a little girl.
1. Amnesia: The Dark Descent
... I didn't even last 15 minutes within the DEMO of this game. This honestly redefines the horror genre, and deserves the title of "The Scariest Video Game of All Time".
Epitome of Insanity
Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors is pretty scary.
It made me dream about being trapped inside a building and having a gun pointed at my head, for god's sake...
