Your Robot Overlord

So I heard through the grapevine that the Temple has a fairly active Minecraft community. While I don't have the free time to join your server, I do have a challenge for you, one that has been greatly enjoyed by several other boards. The challenge is this: I will host a server whose world consists of a single island. On that island is a massive fortress whose winding halls contain my most cunning tricks and traps - and a treasure vault filled with unimaginable riches. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find this treasure vault - it will require agile leaps, proficiency in word puzzles, finding hidden clues that let you know which lever will open the door and which will bathe you in lava, and even a bit of electrical engineering via redstone circuits. Some parts of the fortress will require teamwork to overcome, and some will even pit you against one another. Certain rules must be followed in this challenge. -You'll be playing Minecraft as though it were an adventure game: no breaking or placing blocks unless specifically instructed. -Your number of "lives" will be limited: you have three at first, but more can be earned. -Please post your progress when you accomplish something notable or finish playing. The fortress will take multiple sessions to finish, I guarantee you, and nobody wants to waste time trying to solve a puzzle another player already figured out. -Teamwork is encouraged, but betraying other players for personal gain is still acceptable. If you can trap a rival in a puzzle room, more power to you - until you need him to push a switch elsewhere in the complex. -If you've played my challenge before on another board, please do not spoil it for anyone else. -Once you've found the treasure and escaped, feel free to use an inventory editor to hack it into your singleplayer campaign without feeling like a cheater - you've earned it. (Alternatively, if the ops on the ToK server want to give your multiplayer character a copy of the treasure, that's fine too) How many of you are interested in the challenge? I could get it set up in maybe a week - there are some tweaks I want to make over Spring Break, in between advancing nuclear fusion research and finally cleaning my apartment. |
