I felt the overall writing got progressively better over the trio, although there were standout scenes in each one. But Heaven's Feel totally rocked my socks off: so much had me on the edge of my seat, constantly asking questions and determining what the right course of action would be. Shirou's writing and the love interest was also best in that route -- it felt more like equals, instead of upset dynamics. Favourite character is definitely a lot harder: I'm very similar to Tohsaka, but Ilya is probably my favourite master/the one I find most compelling. In terms of servants, HF really really made me like Rider, and Caster's brief glimpses of actual character were wonderful. Archer as an ideal and a symbol is absolutely wonderful, but as a result I felt he was kinda static. Kotomine was excellent in HF. Spoilers for Heaven's Feel The exorcism of a certain magus and the fight around that made me shit bricks of awesomeness But hmhmmm, favourite Master is definitely Ilya, and favourite Servant is a little trickier, but probably Rider -- also Realta Nua made me absolutely adore Saber all over again, as well as a certain pairing
