Oh wow, I had no idea the production team behind this was that small. I'm reading up about it now. That definitely puts some things into perspective. But yeah, it's not really a big problem; if anything the wordiness gets everything across really well. |

Asphodel your new sig .gif is 100% more amazing. And yeah, I know they had someone else doing music, and I could be wrong. Boyd could correct me on it, probably, but as far as I know it's just Nasu and TK. Gotta love indie work. |

On the contrary, I think the wording is needlessly detailed sometimes and occasionally makes things confusing. |

I'm a fast reader, so half the time I don't even notice when Nasu's being wordy. |

I was thinking, Assassin feels really pointless. In both Fate and UBW, he never really does anything (dunno about HF). I know why he's there but he still feels shoehorned in. Unless HF focuses on him more or something (he's always been my least favorite Servant though, so meh). |

This might be a spoiler but it's not serious Spoiler: click to toggle He basically feels shoehorned in because the grail war requires seven servants so it's necessary for him to exist but he's not super integral to the story. Also, he's the coolest servant in F/SN so pls go. |

Pls go, Slash. Assassin is a beautiful subversion of the line between myth and history that F/SN riffs off the whole time -- how does history play out in the modern age, what's the difference between the mythic person an the modern person, and so on. In Assassin you have someone who's an empty shell, all myth and no person. He's a parody/foil, or a haunting reminder, of what happens to all Heroic Spirits: who they actually are is forgotten and only the myth remains, as the myth consumes the person within. Plus yeah he's really cool and super bro. |

F/SN isn't an indie work. It's actually Type Moon's first commercial work. That said pretty sure Nasu and Takeuchi did the entirety of the storywork themselves (well, I dunno if they had a different editor). Nasu wrote it alone though Takeuchi suggested some ideas (such as Hercules having a young girl as a Master, Saber being a girl, the H scenes, which were more him than Nasu, etc). Takeuchi did all the character designs and probably most of the art, though Hirokazu Koyama did some CGs (he did some in Tsukihime as well) and did the coloring, because Takeuchi can't color for shit (go look at Tsukihime's coloring). Koyama's one of the other major artists for Type Moon, being behind Witch on the Holy Night's character designs and art. He's also doing the art for the Tsukihime remake. The only other one people probably know (I don't even know if there are others) is Arco Wada, who did the art for the Fate/Extra games (though Takeuchi was still the character designer). tl;dr: It's commercial and Nasu and Takeuchi definitely didn't do everything themselves but they were the entire creative force behind the ideas and whatnot. |

Yeah, I'm not surprised that was the reason. Like Saturos said though, it worked in other ways. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have liked the character of Saber as much if she had been a guy. It probably would have meant Nero would have been a guy as well. |

Male King Arthur has (obviously) been done hundreds of times before. Marion Zimmer Bradley did one kind of feminist Arthurian legend in the Mists of Avalon series, with Arthurian knights cracking under the demands of masculinity. Genderbending King Arthur is another interesting way of looking at gender, even if Nasu [radio edit]s it up sometimes. |

I mean, don't get me wrong Male Arthur would've been [radio edit]ed too But TM decided their target audience would rather see 1 guy (Shirou) [radio edit] a bunch of girls (Saber, Rin, Sakura) than 1 girl (Ayaka) [radio edit] a bunch of guys (Arthur, probably Cu Chuliann and Gilgamesh too). |

Clearly Type-Moon needs to release a Fate/Another Night that goes through Ayaka with Servants Saber, Lancer, and Gilgamesh, and appeal to the female demographic not berserker tho |

Well they teased Fate/Prototype and people seemed to want more so it's possible. Then again people eat up anything with Fate slapped onto it. |

While F/P does have a prequel thing running at the moment, Nasu himself said he has no further plans with F/P (and he says he's done with Fate). He did muse that while at the time of F/SN's development an eroge with a (heterosexual) female protagonist wouldn't have done well, he thinks that something like F/SN in it's original form would probably be accepted nowadays. |
