Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

Two remakes, or ports? They're not the same after all.

Remakes. They not only had updated graphics, there were lots of new features and even a new class.

I'd still like to see an up-to-date remake of DQ3 though. Maybe for the 3DS?

Odyssey, ya see~ Odyssey, ya see~

I wouldn't mind a remake of Super Mario RPG while we're on RPGs, but I'd much prefer a sequel myself.

Remakes. They not only had updated graphics, there were lots of new features and even a new class.
So they were enhanced ports?

The difference between a port and a remake is pretty big. Let's look at FF4:

FF4 Advance had new dungeons, playable characters whom were previously unusable past a certain point, and a lot of other new things. It's still a port.
FF4 DS redid the whole system, changing damage to be linear while removing multipliers present in the original game, adding a totally new combat system.

FF5 Advance had four new classes, it's still a port. Contrast with Re:Chain of Memories, which due to completely different combat, is a proper remake.

If it's a flat port, it'll just be the original game, with maybe a new coat of paint. An enhanced port is the original game with new paint and some small amounts of extra content. A remake is a game totally redone in a new style.

So by that logic Star Fox 64 is also just an enhanced port, Bionic Commando Rearmed is an enhanced port, Metroid Zero Mission is an enhanced port. All still played pretty much the same (especially SF64 compared to Star Fox), but with "some new stuff" and new graphics.

lolokay

EDIT: And Ulta not only was SF64 3D one of the very first games shown for 3DS, I swear you made this exact realization once already in another topic and reacted perhaps even more excitedly than you are now. But actually no, as Role will now tell you, it's just an enhanced port. Sorry to disappoint.

Eeeeh, hard to say. The redesign of the game to utilize both screens makes me want to say it's a remake, but at the same time, the fact that it's just really getting a 3D facelift makes me want to say it's just an enhanced port. In the end, it'll come down to level design. If they did some drastic changes, it'll be a remake. If it's just the same layout, it's an enhanced port.

However, I try not to think about it, and instead focus on the fact that I can now play Star Fox 64 while on the toilet. It'll be fun either way.
