Crash posted this in the Shoutbox, but here's a topic for it anyway. I can't link to it here, but you can find it on Reddit (it may be removed later). I just tested it and it really is the real thing, not that unpolished, crappy alpha version that's been floating around the net for almost two years. I'm thinking about playing through it in preperation for Chrono Cross, which I coincidentally planned on replaying very soon. |

From what I'm hearing it's actually more complete than the 98% version that was shown off on youtube before. Though at that point any more percent of completion just means bugfixes, so it's pretty much the same game. |

Yeah, I actually heard that too. Some of the NPC dialogue is missing punctuation and has mediocre grammar though. But aside from that, it's much more polished. |

Uh. Delete, please? If SE gets wind of this, a couple friends of mine will be sued. No joke. |

They're not gonna hear about it from here of all places, for one. They'll hear about it at reddit or Chrono Compendium or Digg or somewhere that people actually go to. It's been out for at least twelve hours, it's beyond keeping secret at this point. Second, maybe they should keep tighter wraps on their projects? |

This is gonna to be all over the internet. As Crash said, it's unlikely they'll find this thread here. The Compendium will be the first place they check, if anywhere. Besides, I'm not sure how your friends could get sued for playing a game they didn't make. Unless of course, they were part of the development team. |

Yeah, while I feel for your friends Zephi, removing it here won't get it removed from Reddit, places that actually seriously matter in the scheme of the internet. We also didn't spread the direct link here, so... yeah. *clutches his copy tightly* Please don't take this away from me. You know what this means to me! EDIT: And Slash, having heard part of the story from Zephi? Yeah, it's a member(s) of the development team. |

I played the alpha version so story-wise, I pretty much know what's coming, but it was crap. Too hard, unpolished, glitchy, incomplete... This version is so much better. I love the new tank design. |

A fanmade sequel romhack that got a bunch of hype and appeared to be decently well-made. Its publicity became too great, Square heard about it and sent them a cease-and-desist order less than a month before their planned release. And wtf @ the Black Tyrano head in place of Gato, and it killed me, but when I died the game didn't end, but I was stuck in the dead sprite and could move around freely luckily it went back to normal when I left the screen. |

It was C&D'd the weekend before release. The Gato room was used as a debug room for testing various bosses in different versions of the game. It never got taken out. |

Since you probably know, then, is the casino stuff not completely finished either? Some of it doesn't seem to work right. |

Not really, the casino wasn't much of an immediate concern. You can play some of the games and you can get to that secret room if you get enough points. The little cutscene is different depending on who you have at the front of your party. All of those cutscenes are in the youtube videos, anyway. |

My only complaints with this game are that it's still too hard (enemies and bosses have far too much HP), and it completely screws with the canon (the whole rescuing Schala thing). I can ignore it though, since the whole thing with Schala was implemented before CTDS was released. |

Not gonna lie, this first part with solo Magus is not real good. These fights are not fun and they take too long. Hopefully things change once I've got different party members. |

I thought that was the easiest part of the game actually. Those enemies inside that dungeon are pretty intense though. Simply put, this game highly encourages grinding and strategy. You can't mash A and win like you can in the original CT. |

This early though, the only strategy even possible is "cast Omniguard, then either attack or use your lightning tech, whichever works better" |

True. Wait until you get to the later parts of the game though. It's freaking crazy how easily the enemies can beat you into a pulp. |

I just finished it. I'm honestly amazed at how professionally done this hack was. It was challenging, had a good number of side quests (although a lot of them don't seem to work/are not finished; for example, I think the barter side quest is impossible to finish, and I can't find a Jade Orb anywhere), and they somehow managed to make it even longer than the original Chrono Trigger. It took me around 24 hours to finish, but some of that time was spent grinding. The final boss has too much defense. It took me absolutely forever to finish him off, and my party was in their 50s. Overall, it was a great game, but as I said, completely retcons Schala's fate until the very end. I also really liked the new techs, although I haven't seen any of Ayla's since I didn't use her. They also managed to tie the game in with Chrono Cross quite well. |
