I'm specifically referring to the average person here. Comic fans would of course know, and likewise MM and PW fans would know that fighting games are not the real fortes of Zero, Tron, and Phoenix Wright, either.

Beat ZXA on normal with 4 subtanks and full health thinking I was good at the game.

And then I revisited Expert mode.

Holy shit it took 4 Game Overs before I managed to kill Rospark. D:<

Thanks Poui.

ZXA.

I have played that game to the point where I'm an expert at it.
I did the boss battles at the end and got less than 20 seconds on 90% of the enemies

Capcom Europe says we were supposed to make the Megaman games.

So I did.

Here's the next entry concept I came up with for the Network Timeline. It's designed to be a 3-game arc, like RnR was. Personally, I think 3-game arcs work for the Network Timeline.

I'd rather not go through formatting hell again trying to get this over here, so here's a link to it over at capcom-unity.
http://www.capcom-unity.com/mega_man/go/thread/view/7461/28874191/Shooting_Star_Legacy_-_A_new_series_concept

I'd love to hear y'alls thoughts on it.

I really like it. I really liked the Star Force games themselves, and would like to see more of them. I'd REALLY like it if they went back to their namesake, (the astrology theme) but since the theme of the game turned into alone vs Friendship your game idea works just as well.

Star Force DID - it even ended with a bang. RnR3 is not only the strongest title in the series, it keeps the themes of space alive pretty well.

This story, however, is about the newer generation. It's not theme of space, but a theme of growth. It could be summed up like this...

First game: I am Megaman/Rogue's apprentice.
Second game: I was trained by Megaman/Rogue.
Third game: I am me.

The stories revolve around how the character grows and becomes a hero in their own right... from crawling, to walking, to running. That the new series. The version merely determines which path you took to get there.

Where does the noise come from? I was under the impression that the amount of noise in SF3 was unusual since it came from Meteor G.

Also, so those Crimson Beast things are the equivalents of Brother Bands for skill points and such?

...Also why do you use the English names "Solo," "Rouge," and "Mega Man," but the Japanese name "Subaru?"

SF3 specifically said that it was a byproduct of EM waves and beings. Dood, this was like one of the first things explained in the game. Meteor G and the Crimson Dragon were being controlled by a high amount of crimson noise, acting like a magnet or something. The noise was being used to pull and direct the meteor, rather than being caused by the meteor itself.

The idea behind crimson beasts is "What happens when crimson noise doesn't get collected? ...They act like bug frags, right? Starforce Gospel and Gregar. [radio edit] yeah. Lets give them some other forms, too, claiming the Crimson Dragon as precedent. We'll call them 'crimson beasts', since they're made of crimson noise." Since it's hinted at that the Darklight Harvester on Rogue actually harvests noise and turns it into power, it essentially becomes the replacement for brotherbands, so yeah, you're pretty spot on there. In game, the goal is to have 900 points for both sides, like RnR3 did, after doing all the sidequests and what not.

And yes, I know I'm guilty of interchanging localization terms. Sorry about that, I've always tended to identify them like that - EM changes I typically use the US terms, and character names the JP versions. Also, Solo is his Japanese name as well. Solo, Subaru, Luna, Misora... yet Rogue, Megaman, Queen Ophiucha, and Harp Note. I'm weird like that. Still, the point gets across, and that's the goal.

You'll have to forgive me for forgetting that; I haven't played the game in a few years, so memory's spotty.

...Bahaha, I see what you mean, you just used SF3 and RnR3 in the same post.

I did?
Role checks.

Huh, so I did. Yeah, dunno why I do that.

I use JP terms for robotics timeline...
But interchange JP and US terms for network timeline... Example, referring to Blues and Megaman in EXE, and my weird naming for RnR.

Anywho, I'd like to work on this a bit more, but... well, I need someone to bounce ideas off of and help me figure out where to take this... But nobody's posted over in Capcom Unity, so... Start asking me questions. :x

You should probably figure out what you want the evil organization to be and why they want to kill Mega Man. I mean, doing it just for the sake of it is weird.

As the primary hero of justice, it stands to reason that whatever they do, Megaman will stand in their way. As a direct result, they work on creating a weapon designed specifically to defeat him so that their real plans can proceed relatively unhindered.

They didn't count on the weapon rebelling against them. Likely, they had a control program ready, but he escaped before they could install it into him.

The goal of this part of the organization is to re-capture and bring the weapon back under their control. When that ultimately fails, the desperation move is a last-ditched attempt to get rid of him and his allies... yet that fails too.

In regards to what you said about SF3, I wholly agree. I was more referencing the naming mechanic, but SF3 did indeed bring space back into the game- which was really needed after SF2. Loved ninja form, but beyond that, it could've easily been titled "megaman versus myths! Oh, and solo's a complete badass." Instead of SF2- because there were no damn stars in that game.

It kinda reminded me of BN4, in the sole fact that it introduced a lot of cool new stuff, but the game was still... Weaker... Than other entries.

In regards to your proposal, I like it. Gameplay sounds intriguing, to say the very least.

One thing I'm wondering about is that in the previous SF games, you could register your friends and get their cards and stuff. However, Dark has no way of doing this, (if you go as the normal form)- which kinda sucks, since I for one love to get together with people and screw around with our games.

From a wording standpoint, I'd like to hear more about the major bosses- like, there's always something that's been binding them together- like SF1 had all stars and galaxies. SF2 had all myths. SF3 was almost exclusively cards. Now, it seems as if you have an element theme going on here- especially with the whole dark/light aspect going on. Would that reflect itself in the names, or would something else be used?

Also, if my wishes came true, there would be a sequel to lunar knights that could link up with this game. But that's just blatent fanboyism. XD

Aye, Solo was the only good thing to come out of SF2. It jumped the shark in terms of story, and whoever thought Wave Command Codes was a good idea needs to be shot.

Also, Dark DOES. Did you not read my post? Instead of Real Brothers, they get Real Noise. Go back and read the post, thoroughly this time.

As far as the Major Bosses is concerned, I've really not figured that out yet.

Oh, is that what they call it? The real noise are the people then- but can you have real noise/ real brothers from a different version? Like, a light real noise or a dark real brother? Because I know a lot of people with friends that will get the opposite version of a game so you can inter-trade.

Just remember to check to see if the question has been answered already before asking it. I mean, come on - you were asking about something that was explained in the first post. That's a big forum no-no.
