Street Fighter IV didn't get cancelled though, did it? Also, Legends 3 stood out because it was an IP from the Capcom old days they were bringing back, like Breath or Fire and Darkstalkers. Can you honestly say you'd be happy if Darkstalkers IV got announced and cancelled? Course not, because you like Darkstalkers. People like Legends. They do NOT like their first game in ten years being cancelled. People have good reason to complain and rally IMO. And well...yeah, Capcom is currently on a roll with only making material they're positive will sell a lot. (Hence why a new Darkstalkers isn't likely for a while) I don't hold that against them; they're a company, they have to put food on the table. What I hold against them is the fact they're not placing more confidence with their franchises even when they have the means to, albeit with good reason. Still, I'll tell you this, if for example God Hand had been hyped up the way Asura's Wrath is currently getting, it would have sold quite a bit more, even if it was released at the end of the PS2's lifespan. |

You clearly don't understand how much people wanted this game. As Peo said, ten years later they announce it, get everyone hyped, then crush their hopes by cancelling it. We're "whining" because we have every right to. The news hit really hard when it was first cancelled, and while it's not as bad now as it was when it first happened, it still sucks majorly to know we'll never get a conclusion to the series. It's kind of like Xenosaga, only worse. |

Complaining is understandable, but whining based on flawed and retarded arguments long after the fact is just plain stupid, TBH. hell, some idiot there wanted people to spam capcom with hatemail (Which I'm sure wouldn't work and would make the company ignore the fans even more). |

It's GFAQS; not the best example to get the idea of a 'good argument'. =/ People are angry though, and that's because they're longtime fans. And you know, some Legends fans have sent mail to Capcom. Difference? They're filled with praise, fanart and words of how much they love the Legends series, and Capcom USA have stated they are personally moved/checking each and every letter that comes in about the cause. THAT is the kind of thing that helps and is sensible. I like you Reimu, but please don't just look at the GFAQS board and assume that's how all Legends fans are. :U |

IT IS WORTH FIGHTING FOOOORRRR Q_Q Some Legends fans are being very productive about it. ^_^ My friend sent a letter on Legends stationary to Capcom. And the influx of fanart in response to the cancellation has been fun to look at. |

Another thought about that Inafune quip: I hope you guys see the audacity in what Inafune did there. 1. Start development on a game 2. Suddenly quit the company mid-development 3. Ask that the company contract the game out to your new company (which nets Inafune more money in the long run) If I were the guy at Capcom in charge of making that decision I would have said "No, that's not necessary" too. |

Let's shift gears. Enough about games that got canceled. Let's instead talk about hypothetical games we know will never get made, but if it did get made, this is what we might like to see! Or, long story short: Your ideal next game. For me, ZX3. For simplicity's sake, I will refer to Ven and Aile as X, and Grey and Ashe as A. When talking about the models themselves, I will use Model X and Model A instead. Here's the gist of the story: It's been a few months since the events of ZXA. Model Z hasn't come back from stopping the other models, X and A have gone out in search of it. As the intro begins, A has gotten word that Model Z might be in the area near X. X goes to investigate. They find Model Z in a damaged state, and with the tutorial mechaniloid in the way. The take it out, and recover Model Z. Back at the base, Model Z is repaired and reunites with X. Model ZX is accessible again, and possibly Models X and Z themselves as well. After the reunion, they return to the mission they had in ZXA - hunting down the stolen Models. While A wants to join X, other matters come up that need investigation, and A decides to split up and handle that mission themselves. X heads off towards the signals for each of the models. Halfway through the stages, they encounter the models and fight, but the model holder scurries off. However, a fragment of the power is left behind, allowing for a rudimentary version of the Double-Merge with them. It's but a base form - no energy, no charge, just the basic functionality at the bare minimum. At the end of the stage, though, instead of finding the retreating model, they find a Pseudoroid. They defeat it, and the energy resonates with it's base model, unlocking the first charge and the energy meter. Back at base, you find out why A went off - they were collecting intel. You find out that the models aren't working on their own, they're working for Thomas, who sent them off to plant psudoroids in various places. A reveals that they fought some as well, and also that Mikhail is being held in a location near them - they were transmitting en-route. However, before they can get there, the transmission is cut short, with remarks of 'how are you still alive' or the like. X is sent to support. By the time X gets there, A has been defeated... by Pandora and Prometheus. They reveal they really aren't connected with the current incident, and have instead been holding grudges against X and A - and thank X for saving them the trouble of hunting them down. X defeats them (though they escape), transports A back to base, and continues on. After defeating a guard mechaniloid, they rescue both Mikhail and other prisoners at the prison base place thing. Back at base, A is recovering, but decides to lend their power to X - unlocking Model Ax. The energy meter on Ax is half filled, and will increase slightly after every two of the next eight missions completed, due to 'increased affinity between models'. The hunt for the models continues, and ends quickly, as they are captured this time. Getting the full models back unlocks OIS mode for the models. After this, the decision is made to take down the rest of the pseudoroids they had planted, and then to make the final assault on Thomas' base (beating the second set of pseudoroids unlocks the second half of the meter, as well as the second charge shots). The pseudoroids are re-encountered in traditional megaman style, however more akin to how it was in X1 than in the "transport rooms", so they act as midbosses for each stage of the final area. Finally, the showdown with Thomas. The reason he's doing this is revealed, but of course X points out that's a crock of bull, kicks ass, takes names, and end of stor--or not. As it turns out, Model V (okay, fine, W, whatever) is causing some serious problems and going haywire. They need to find a way to bring it under control, and fast. There's no time, though, and X does the only thing that comes to mind - Double Megamerges with Model V/W. The final cutscenes take place, with the cast asking if X is really alright, and while they say it's fine, it's clear that something's a bit... off. Roll credits. (Model) A mode unlock. Wait, what? Yeah, you heard me. (model) A mode - the second half of the story. A mode starts a couple months afterwards. A has recovered and reunites with Model A, though they find out that because of the battle damage from the fight earlier, the A-trans abilities they had earlier can't be recalled. Furthermore, because of the link with model X, A's functionality has shifted slightly - The A buster is now 7 directional, and the homing shot has a level of charge. It is not rapid-fire like Ax, but plays like if A in ZXA had the 7 directional shot instead of being an X clone. You know... actually useful. The reuinion is short lived, though. Nobody can seem to find X - and the psudoroid problem, which should have been solved, seems to be returning. A checks the prison to make sure that the captured 'new guardians' or whatever you want to call them are still there - only to find Pandora and Prometheus. The guards taken out, the prisoners gone, they kindly let them know that they took the liberty of freeing them. Why? Because personal grudges. A moves to action, but P&P don't care and warp out. Base of operations freaks out, since they got past the security in the first place, but while they try to fix the holes in the security, A's duty is clear - capture the escapees! It's quickly done - beating each of them unlocks their model. See notes for how A-Trans is actually different than Double-Merging. A questions them as to where they can find the pseudoroids, but they reveal that they didn't even get the chance - they were captured almost immediately after they were released. Now knowing that there's a different threat, they head after the different Psudoroid signals to take them down. On the way to one of them, they encounter X. And something is very very wrong with them. They merge into Vx/Wx, taunt A, and sic the Pseudoroid on them. Now A knows where they're coming from. Well, that can't be good. After beating the Pseudoroids, A discovers they can't scan them - the data scan was corrupted due to the influence of Model V/W on them. However, the data doesn't go to waste - it's used to power up and improve the model scans. After taking down the four Psudoroids, A returns to base to report the bad news. And the base is attacked. If Ashe, it's by Prometheus, if Grey, it's by Pandora. A defeats them... and then A-trans INTO them. Cue counter taunting and storming off in fits. Preferably in the form of an animated cutscene. With that minor distraction out of the way, four more pseudoroid signals have been detected. They head out, take them down (and reap the powerups), and confront the other of the P&P duo before they can get to the nearest transporter (location varies depending on which stage was the fourth stage, and which end of the stage's transporter). They take them out and head back to base. The peeps at the base locate X's signal, and the "all troops move out" order is given. As A, you're chosen to spearhead the attack, being the only Megaman other than X themselves whom is actually trustworthy (the other four, of course, being in prison). They re-encounter the pseudoroids in the same manner as in ZX mode, as midboss type fights, but then are stopped by P&P. The duo had figured out what was going on, and take the opportunity to side with V/W, thus standing in A's way. They defeat them and press on, finally coming face to face with X. As Vx/Wx, they command a "model V/W pseudoroid" to take out A. It fails. So they take things into their own hands... but as just a mad shell of their true self, A is able to defeat them. The problem still remains, though - V/W needs to be removed. They scan the defeated Vx/Wx, though instead of for an A-trans, they use the data to find a way to safely separate the two. Luckily, the Model V/W is no longer unstable, so the threat which required the Double-merge with V/W is no longer an issue. As X is recovering, the two muse about their partnership. Or something. Cue Secret Cutscene. What, you DID play on Hard Mode specifically to unlock this, right? Right? Sure you did. P&P again have gotten into the base and freed the four 'new guardians'. They're talking, saying that they should ally - but the others question P&P's motives. P&P respond that they don't care what the four do, that's their choice - but one thing must happen - revenge on X and A, to which the four agree. However, they point out that without the four Models, there's not much they can do. "Don't worry... we know a way to remedy that... " Cue P&P holding up the very cause of the whole mess - the Model V/W fragment which caused the whole mess in the first place, which they had taken as well in their raid. Gameplay features: ZX Mode:

...Wow, you, uh, really put a lot of detail in your ideas. See, now the thing I don't like about Model A in a (not)possible future game is that since it has A trans, other characters are largely extraneous (even if A trans is inferior to the original, like the Faker that Model A is). Personally, I'd rather Model Z stay gone or not be available for a while, forcing you to use X alone. Except, I'd want them to bring the weapon system back from the Classic/X series for Model X. This would solve the Model A problem since it'd be unlikely that it could imitate the weapon system since it's A Trans is imperfect, and you wouldn't lose the Zero playstyle since it would retain the A Trans version of ZX from the previous game. So Model A can keep doing it's own thing, but Model X is no longer the plain vanilla model. As for the other models, Model A could still A Trans into them, but for Model X, let's say you get "data." You analyze this data, and lo and behold, you can make...armors! This way, Model X is different from Model A, and it also pays homage to the fan theory that Fefnir, Phantom, and Harpuia were based on the armors from X5/X6 (poor Leviathan). Plot wise I don't really like to just grasp at straws so I wouldn't be too concerned about that. Now, the other thing I want? X game that's the Elf Wars. Zero's gone, so you play as X or Axl. Since it would be plot driven on the level of the Zero series rather than the X series, no separate modes; like in X8, it's a team system. Plot may force you to go alone with specific characters though. Naturally, near the end of the game, Axl gets killed to explain his absence, and you unlock Zero. (Fans wank about this stupidly all the time "There's no way Axl died in the Elf Wars! He's a S Rank Hunter! What could kill him?" Uh, how about OMEGA?"). Omega Zero would of course be the final boss again, although he'd have to be modified, since it's VERY easy to kill him with Model X in ZX. |

My idea was basically to make it so that double-megamerging had things Model A couldn't replicate. I figured it'd act a lot like the original, while Model A took a lot of inspiration from Vile Mode in Maverick Hunter X. The whole armor upgrades, though... that was my ideas for the sequel-that-wont-happen to my sequel-that-won't-happen. XD It's not just Model X, either. Imagine being able to customize each of the models! But hot damn I'm with you on the Elf Wars. Even better if it's in the same art style as Zero was. Here's an idea for Omega, though - don't make him a joke like he was in Zero 3. Imagine something that big with the mobility and combo fervor of ZX's Omega! An elf wars saga would be awesome, really. I agree, first game Zero shouldn't be playable, but subsequent games in the series he should - since we've got soundstages about how X and Zero took down Omega. |
