In all honesty, I just wanted a port of BN1 since I cannot find that game anywhere. And I'd gladly sacrifice OSS if capcom brought some OTHER games to the west... *cough AAI2 cough* but that's a rant for a different thread. Also, SF2 was the BN4 of the SF series. That's totally random, but I just wanted to say it. |

To be completely fair, I liked a lot of the gameplay mechanics they introduced, like the zerker/ninja/saurian forms and the navicust-like thing based on link power. Beyond that, however, it was terrible. It took the cute naming mechanic of the previous game, bent it over, and raped it hard. Then, it took the characters we enjoyed to an extent and the quirky, if juvenile, humor that capcom has produced before in names and towns and character actions, and raped that too. We get such lovely abominations as Wazzap, AKA "the town that killed humor forever" and loch mess, AKA "Dear god, I need to use the "L" button now? And was that a goat?" We also are introduced to throwaway characters that we will NEVER SEE AGAIN such as lunar destroyer or GOAT FU. And not to mention the whole "Oh, future technology is really ancient technology from mu" crap. >.> One more thing on the plus side, though, I did enjoy the introduction of Rogue. BN4 was very much the same way for me, by the way. I loved the whole doublesoul mechanic, and some of the people they introduced I wanted to see again. and the whole Darkchip/Darkloid thing was pretty good, since Wiley can't be the villain all the time. But the whole mini-quest thing was bullshit, and the level difficulty/repeating the game when you beat it can go die in a fire. honestly, what the hell was that? Plus, this game was glitchy. there were typos, grammer mistakes, and character portraits in the wrong places. It was easily the weakest entry in the BN series. But it had django. So it's not on the bottom of my list... But it's close. |

Aye, like BN4, it introduced a lot of things that would have been very good... had they been in something other than a POS game. I'd recommend playing the final evolutions of the games instead. For BN, 2, 3, and 6 are musts - 5 and 1 to fill in story, but they're not as good. 4 is entirely skippable. For SF, 3. 1 to fill in stuff on story. 2... if you're willing to force your way through it. It introduces some decent stuff, but sucks over all. Especially online. As for removed content, the only time I think this was a good thing was in SF3, where they took out only the things that would break online play. In this, there was a way to give Rogues Brotherband links, as well as a way to get NFB cards in your normal folder as selectable standard card attacks. Yeah, easily a good decision, unlike BN6's huge screwup, where they took out entire sections of the game. |

I actually REALLY enjoyed 5. Like, my two favorites are 3 and 5. 6 was really good too, but It just felt... idk, like it was missing something. 2 was pretty beast, and 1 I only want to play for story. 5... Ok, the liberation missions were a bit of a gimmick, but I really liked a lot of that game, and the characters and story were very well done. SF3... I honestly cannot complain much about this game. I only find fault with the mood whiplash and some of the dialogue. Mood whiplash being the fact that it goes from "OH NOES LUNAAAAAAAAA" to "POWER OF FRIENDSHIP" to "YAY LETS DO STUFF" Now, this series is based around the power of friendship, so I give them a pass there. As for dialogue... "Buck Wild" That's all I need to say. I mean... Ok, I guess they need a catchphrase? Y'know, since "Wave battle! Ride on!" and "Geo Stelar, On The Air" got sorta discontinued... But still. That just sounded so... forced... But eh, Besides those two nitpicky things, I really cannot complain about SF3. |

I really enjoyed liberation missions as well. I just wish the game relied on them a bit less, and that they were more for fun. It'd have been nice to have it continue on 6 in a different form as a sort of minigame. While I give SF3 credit for having the balls to kill a major character, I do agree, that was a bit of a mood whiplash. I wish it had affected them longer than it did. Also, it's all the more heavy if you chose to save Luna's bag. And yes... I actually ship Subaru/Geo with Luna. Misora can burn in hell. |

Hmmm... Yeah, while I did see merit for both ships, I chose Misora's ship. I found the whole "first real friend" thing really sweet and touching. But, again, there is evidence for both. This was just my personal preference. |

He hardly spends any time with Misora, while he spends plenty of time with Luna. Hell, in the latest game she even warms up to him when he's not Rockman, slowly becoming more Dere than Tsun. Contrast with Misora/Sonia, who only shows up every now and then, and really has very little development compared to Luna... |

I do see your point, But I always saw it like this: Geo is a very withdrawn boy. He avoids people in the first game. All of a sudden, Misora shows up, and they become friends because they share that "Loner" vibe. Now, because of her, he's starting to break out of his shell. Because of him, she's starting to trust people again- and because of Omega Xis, Lyra isn't being an evil bitch. Now, flash forward. There was the Pseudo-Date, and a few other things. Now, I may be over-romanticizing this. It could very well be a non-blood sibling relationship. but I saw it as more romantic. >.> |

Ah, but you forget! It was the combined efforts of Sonia and Luna that got him out. You can't attribute it to either one, it was something it took both of them to do. Replay the first game as a reminder. Sonia alone wouldn't have pulled it off - she instead would have become the "only link". Luna alone wouldn't have worked out either, without that final push by Sonia, he may have grown to hate Luna instead of open up. As far as that Pseudo Date was concerned, I think Luna's had one as well. The Subaluna/Subasora war wouldn't be as close if it couldn't easily go either way. What I said earlier about the Save Luna scenario though? If you're a Subaluna fan, it's that much more heavy. It's almost hollow for a Subasora fan. It's something we can always hold over y'alls heads about just how more powerful it is with our ship over yours. ^-^ |

Hm. Again, I'm not really willing to fight over ships, in any fanon. I do enjoy a discussion about them, but when people begin to get angry over it, I start to back off. That said, You do have a point. The entire thing in the third game is very heavy on Luna... And the second game was pretty heavy on misora, but that game sucked so much... >.< They tried. They really did. But it was a few glimmers inside a garbage dump of a game. And First Brotherband was a big freaking deal for Geo. But I digress. They are both equally potential, and capcom is never going to resolve this. At least they made Mayl/Lan official as of BN6... >.> |

No, I'm not arguing with you about the first brotherband thing. You're right there. However, if it weren't for both girls, he'd not have opened up. Neither side can really claim the defrosting of Geo. Hell, even Omega-Xis contributed to that! It was the combined effort of many people. Misora was arguably that last push that helped him, thus the symbolic brotherband, but without the help of the others, I don't think Geo would have opened up to her like that. And again, without Misora's final push, I don't think he'd have gone with Luna either. Also, I'll need a refresher on how the second game was Misora heavy... It's not so much a shipper bias as it is exactly what you pointed out - the game was plain forgettable. Mind the refresher? @Lan/Mayl: I didn't like that. It seemed forced, especially given how freaking dense Lan was. |

Off the top of my head, there was the thing where he saw her on an ad, then hung out with her- big one was the whole bermuda triangle place thing where she broke the band and helped the evil people to keep him safe. |

Look at this from her perspective - Subaru's one of the few people she can actually call a friend. She's gonna do whatever she can to protect him. So this really made sense in context - it didn't matter if he was a romantic interest or not here. Instead, think of them more as... Nakama, I think the term is. She, Subaru, and later Bud actually make up a team of sorts (and Bly/Solo when he feels like it), but at the time she was protecting her only friend and ally. Now look at it from his perspective - he's grown much more than she has, gained more friends, but because of her job can't spend too much time with her. In terms of relationship growth, they don't really get the time to develop that. Luna, on the other hand, has shown a lot of growth. The fact that she warmed up to Subaru past her initial crush on his Rockman persona shows a lot of growth, she genuinely is concerned for him by the end of the third game. Though I'm mixed about her not gaining Ophiuca back and joining the Nakama, the fact that she's showing this even from the sidelines probably speaks more than if she fought side by side. Also, the Ad? Remember who he was with then? Luna, Buck, and Zack. Buck and Zack actually were more excited about it than Subaru, IIRC. I think he was just reminded that "Oh, right, because of the new update we'll probably have to meet." Also, that date? Remember, they hardly get to see each other really. Normally, she's busy at work and he at school. You'd be nuts if you didn't spend time with a friend you don't get to see often like that, be they romantic interest or not. The closest thing to a date I think the series really got was when you had to choose between the three items. So again, like the first thing, this can easily be explained by means other than romantic interest. One could easily argue that the winning ship depends on that choice. |

Again, Both sides have merit. I think it may be that I was a bit biased against luna, which is why I went with sonia. I can honestly see the Sonia/Geo relationship being totally platonic, I just prefer to think of it as more romantic. |

...They got together during the timeskip between the end of the game and the distant finale. They weren't even in high school when BN6 ended. You don't think Lan can change throughout high school/however else longer it might've took? Also clearly grabbing Bud's shirt was the correct choice. You have to be a bro, after all

Aye, in the end it's just a matter of who you prefer - and I'm a sucker for Tsunderes. That, and Sonia/HarpNote screams "Roll expy", and I was never a fan of that loli robot whore. 4's only saving grace was the fact you got to kick her ass in one scenario. Actually... what happens when you go after the shirt? I know if you choose one girl over the other, the one you don't choose gets pissed, but being the Luna fan I am, I always went for her... anything comical if you chose the bro over the ho? |
