Felix does make some sense, though: he started off working for the "bad guys", and seemed to not care that Weyard would seemingly be destroyed by igniting the lighthouses. He only wanted to save his parents. I'm assuming he didn't know otherwise until he reached Lemuria and heard it from Hydros.

Then Dark Dawn tells us he left after the Golden Sun event and hasn't been seen since. When someone disappears for that long in a video game, chances are good that they're with the bad dudes and will make a dramatic appearance later on. He did the same thing in GS1.

Actually, Felix had known about Kraden's theories about the Golden Sun event for some time, possibly even since shortly after Sol Sanctum. Kraden said that Felix is the only one he's confided his theories in when they are in Lunpa's house in Lemuria. So Felix may have STARTED if only to save his parents, but its possible even by the time he says at Venus Lighthouse, "the other two lighthouses still have to be lit!" to Isaac that he knows why they HAVE to be lit, as opposed to why he would want them to be lit.

Felix leaving is a natural thing for him. I can't see him feeling settled and able to live at home. I bet he's doing the "travelling the world, atoning for his sins while wearing a mask to conceal his identity" thing. Because he probably feels guilty for everything that's happened since the rise of the Golden Sun, especially the destruction of Vale and what happened in Lalivero.

Especially if the High Empyror turns out to be doing these things for a good reason, like the Proxians in GS1. Remember that they, too, seemed like villains with nothing but ill intent until TLA released.

When you think of it like that, Felix actually makes for a fairly possible Empyror. Our dear Arcanus, after all, seems to work for the High Empyror, and he did once state that Felix was incredibly resourceful...enough to work with him again, perhaps?

Or perhaps Felix is one-upping Arcanus and hiding his identity, using Arcanus to achieve his end goals. Chessmaster+.

Arcanus' real name not used to avoid spoilers, even though obvious spoiler is obvious.

I'm still hoping we have some actual villains. GSDD plays the "people are not always black and white" trope that the first two games played quite well, though in the end, we get very villains villains. Alex, Blados, and Chalis, are, in the end, even worse than Saturos, Menardi, Agatio, and Karst ever were.

Agatio and Karst, what did they do? They tried to seek revenge on Isaac for killing Karst's sister and Agatio's best mate, and they also wanted to make the world kneel before Prox using the power of the Mars Lighthouse. Evil Intentions, but what did they achieve? Not much at all. They didn't really hurt anyone (besides roughing up some Naribwe folk asking for Isaac) even if they would have used more brutal methods to regain the Black Orb from the Kibombo than Felix did.

Saturos and Menardi? Besides causing a storm, thieving from a sanctum, and causing rockslides that block roads and possibly only accidentally trap a young martial artist under a boulder, they only cause real damage in one area – Northeastern Gondowan, where they kill a number of soldiers and scholars and workmen. -That- is why Saturos and Menardi are evil, despite their efforts to save their village. They resort to very evil acts. But it doesn't mean we can't sympathise with them, and even more, sympathise with the people who loved them and looked up to them in Prox, despite what they did outside of the town. That's why we get the shades of grey with them. Which is cool, but their evil acts should not be forgotten.

Alex may have manipulated everyone, but his only real evil acts were possibly killing and definitely hurting some soldiers outside Venus Lighthouse, and trying to summon a whirlwind to destroy Vale after achieving the Golden Sun, or at least part of it. He may be very manipulative, but he tries to be more subtle and less out-right damaging.

But that changes in DD. Arcanus, Blados, and Chalis all do a terrible evil act in DD: release the Grave Eclipse, killing hundreds, if not thousands of people across Angara. Only the towns that had their Alchemy Machines restored, or had some other defence, like Harapa's lights, were saved. Many, many people died, because of their acts. This isn't the same level of atrocity Saturos and Menardi caused. There isn't any room for players to argue, even if the Tuaparang turn out to have some noble intentions, that these three were good after all. They did something irredeemable. And the later two tried to take the world hostage with a giant laser ray of light. That's more along the lines of what Agatio and Karst wanted to do, but their first step to doing it, was far more evil than trying to resurrect the lighthouses. Frankly, I'm surprised nobody had killed the Mountain Roc before and restarted the Luna Tower, since it doesn't require much difficult Psynergy and its not like a Magma Orb is protected in some Holy Sanctum of Holiness like the Elemental Stars. Maybe it required the Golden Sun to rise up first, but they could have found pawns earlier than 30 years. Luna Tower is a lot worse than the 4 Lighthouses, and its a lot less protected. I wonder why.

In any case, judging by how evil Arcanus, Blados, and Chalis are, how far their willing to go to get what they want… I don't think the High Empyror would be much better. Unless there's some real flip of some sort, and the High Empyror's intentions are quite different than those three. But at the very least, Arcanus seems to hold himself representative of the High Empyror (though he probably has his own agenda on top of that).

Not gonna lie, I like the idea of Felix being High Empyror and wouldn't be TOO surprised if it were true. The only thing is, like Gwee pointed out, the baddies of DD have done terrible things. I can't see Felix allowing that. But seeing as the motives and alliances between the baddies are so mysterious, it's really hard to judge... I've got to play the game again before I can even start to hypothesize. XD
