Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

TALES OF SYMPHONIA: KNIGHTS OF RATATOSK
The Hook: It is the sequel to a wonderful game.
The Kicker: Thinking that the colletexLloyd AMV I found on youtube was based on real game events. Nice graphics.
The Scrappy: CHARACTERS. BATTLE SYSTEM. DUNGEONS. THAT STUPID FALLING GROUND MINIGAME. STORYLINE. NEW OVERWORLD MAP. EMIL'S VOICE. MARTA'S VOICE. THE DAMN COURAGE LINE. LAME ROMANCE. THE FACT THAT NOBODY DIES WHO SHOULD. THE SITUATION WITH LLOYD COULD HAVE BEEN COOLER.
The Burner: IT SUCKED.
The Thoughts: SUCKED BAD.
Actually, DotNW is a good game, you're just too big a ToS fan to realize it.

ALSO, Richter is the best character ever.

Kiki, courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality~

Perhaps. Maybe I just go for plot/characters too much. But don't you tell me the plot was good in that game. I will blindly shut you out without fairly considering your points. >:|

...I don't see what was wrong with the battle system; all the current Tales games have free move, save Graces.

Also, what Bowse said. Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality :werebarret:

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair

The Hook: Castlevania! Online! With all your favorite characters!
The Kicker: Holy shit, they're whipping out the DLC for this game and it's all amazing!
The Scrappy: WHY ARE YOU SO DIFFICULT, CHAPTERS 10 AND 11?! WRRRRRRY (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
The Burner: HOLY LIGHTNING! HOLY LIGHTNING! HOLY LIGHTNING! HOLY LIGHTNING! HOLY LIGHTNING! HOLY LIGHTNING! HOLY LIGHTNING! HOLY LIGHTNING! HOLY LIGHTNING! HOLY LIGHTNING! HOLY LIGHTNING! Nice knowing you. *open chest* ANOTHER PAIR OF ARTEMIS SHOES!? (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
The Thoughts: If you like Castlevania, get this. NOW.

Skies of Arcadia

The Hook: Peo and Draco suggested I play it (over and over again) so I got it eventually
The Kicker: So many epic moments, great soundtrack, uniquely charming characters, SHIP BATTLES, plenty to do and explore, and the unique Spirit system in battle.
The Scrappy: Random encounters could get quite repetitive due to the small variation of enemies in areas and large amounts of recycled enemies, as well as a relatively high encounter rate. Finding Discoveries is a pain. Heck, most overworld travel is a pain before getting the altitude upgrades. Also some Ship Battles take too long but they're really fun anyway, so.
The Burner: Finishing the storyline. I'll go back to play it again to get all the secrets and get the Vyse the Legend title some other time.
The Thoughts: Very good RPG. Certainly not perfect, but great nonetheless. If you want a huge, adventurous, charming, swashbuckling RPG experience, Skies is the only thing out there that'll suit this. Unique in many ways, Skies is worth a try out to any RPG fan, and even non-RPG fans. tl;dr go and play it. Now. :awe:

Gamecube? Damn, I thought Skies was GBA. There goes any hope I had of ever playing it.

Haha, yeah, Skies would definitely not work on a GBA. (it could be plausible on the 3DS though.) But if you've got a Wii you could always play it on that if you could get a copy and if you have a GC controller. :/

The Ys series in general

The Hook: Playing Ys: The Ark of Napishtim on the PSP when I first got my PSP, then years later, Peytral convincing me to play the other games in the series. (The Ark of Napishtim was the sole reason I even kept that PSP!)
The Kicker: Simple, yet addictive gameplay (although Seven's is a bit more complex), a very recognizable Hero, generally memorable characters, and generally stellar music. The settings are also rich and detailed. (Well, in the newer releases, at least) They also provide genuine challenge.
The Scrappy: Some bosses are just unfairly difficult. The plots also tend to be pretty lame and cheesy.
The Burner: None yet. I still go back to play Ys games once in a while, and am playing through Chronicles currently.
The Thoughts: Very good yet very obscure ARPG series. I'd definitely recommend to anyone who likes fast paced, challenging combat and vibrant, lively worlds and POWER METAL SOUNDTRACKS YEAH

Odyssey, ya see~ Odyssey, ya see~

Earthbound:

The Hook: My brother. He introduced me to the game after he got it due to seeing Ness in Smash Bros.
The Kicker: The very oddball dialogue and style of the entire game. *smile* *smile* The unique setting from other RPGs is another thing, but I hadn't really played any other type of RPG before Earthbound, so I didn't appreciate it until playing games like Final Fantasy. Also, 'dat music.
The Scrappy: RUN BUTTON, WHERE IS IT? Also, it can be difficult to start, but gets much easier as it goes on.
The Burner: Everytime I play the game, my file is constantly deleted by my computer rebooting or something, so does that count? Beating the game is pretty much the burnout.
The Thoughts: Great music, very unique boss fights, settings and locations are terrific, very oddball dialogue and wacky characters. The main cast is lacking in character, however. Mother 3 does a much better job with them.

Bayonetta

The Hook: The trailer made me drool. That, and this game got 10/10. AWWWWW YEEEAAAH.
The Kicker: Absolutely everything. It was just... Perfect for me. ;3;
The Scrappy: The final boss fight is VERY difficult, and is almost unfair. But it kind of makes sense, seeing as you're fighting God.
The Burner: Haven't quite burned yet! Still loving its addictive gameplay.
The Thoughts: BUY IT. LOVE IT.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

The Hook: I loved Silent Hill. Played all games. The promise of a reimagination got me.
The Kicker: The story and the fact that this time, you CAN'T fight back. That's what horror is about!
The Scrappy: The game was waaaay too short. Completed it in about three hours or four. D:
The Burner: Short gameplay. ._.
The Thoughts: Although the game's plot was beautiful, and that the "reimagination" was done extremely well, the game had to sacrifice its gameplay. The game is very short, but there are many different paths you can take, but who would want to be chased around by Raw Shocks another seven times?

Castlevania Judgment

The Hook: I luuuuurv Castlevania. Especially Symphony of the Night and its hilarious voice acting.
The Kicker: It's a Castlevania FIGHTING game. Sounds pretty darn interesting. That, and you can even play as DEATH AND DRACULA. OMG. 8D
The Scrappy: MARIA RENARD WAS AN OVERPOWERED BETCH, AND GOLEM WAS ABSOLUTELY USELESS. D<
The Burner: The plot was kind of cliche, and not much to a fighting game. And the "storylines" for the characters selected were absolutely horrid. Maria only cared about boobies. And about 1/3 of the characters were sooooo emo.
The Thoughts: This game is more of a rent than a buy. It was, however, a nice little experiment by Konami, and is an accquired taste for gamers at most. The music was WONDERFUL. Oh, and don't complain about Shanoa's appearance. Despite the fact she looked like some sort of nun, it still suits her.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky

The Hook: My massive Falcom fanboying, coupled with my hype about the plot and characters and a fun-looking battle system.
The Kicker: Everything. The amazing characters, hilarious dialogue, great combination of traditional and tactical battle systems, the music, world... Everything.
The Scrappy: Uh... The unfair difficulty of some of the battles. Sometimes things seem a little too luck-based.
The Burner: Still playing it, and plan to do another playthrough once I'm done. lawl
The Thoughts: Probably my favorite RPG ever. Seriously.

Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Final Fantasy

The Hook: My love of the Final Fantasy series, and having thoroughly enjoyed the first Dissidia.
The Kicker: The awesome and unique gameplay, the wide cast of familiar characters, and the massive amounts of stuff to do.
The Scrappy: The AI is a dirty cheating bastard >:| Also some stuff just takes ridiculous amounts of time to get.
The Burner: Still playing it, but fighting the AI will get dull after a while.
The Thoughts: Awesome game, any PSP owner who doesn't have it should get it. Although I dunno if anyone here that has a PSP doesn't have this.

Valkyrie Profile: Silmaria

The Hook: Oh god best combo of turn based/combo style ARPG replete with the same experimental and dark plot three dimensions!
The Kicker: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guugXQ0Ea6o
The Scrappy: Lots of the REAL metagame (which makes the game fun and entertaining instead of a slogfest) is pretty much up to you to discover/read online. I.e. sealstones and crits and 'effective against' glyphs.
The Burner: PS2 is in a different room. Also no replayability like the first game where you could get different einherjar per playthrough.
The Thoughts: Gorgeous game with good acting even if the plot is kind of meh. Astoundingly cool battle system.
