Basically, the point of this thread is for you to analyze your games using various fields with which to describe them. Here's the various fields:

The Hook: This is what got you to buy the game. It could be the premise, a friend's recommendation, or even on a whim. Just what got you to buy it?
The Kicker: What kept you playing? Was it the battle system, the story, what?
The Scrappy: What about the game irked you? What did you not like about it? Was the battle system good, but the story wanted to make you murder the writers in cold blood? Was it that one character who just pissed you off? What about it do you REALLY hate?
The Burner: What caused you to burn out on it? How long does burnout generally last for you?
The Thoughts: What other thoughts, notes, or comments do you have on the game?

I'll list some of my games, you should list some of yours.

Mana Khemia

The Hook: NISA connection, actually. I love NIS games, and they brought it here. Figured I'd try it out.
The Kicker: MY GOD, THE BATTLE SYSTEM. So much freaking fun. More JRPGS should be like this.
The Scrappy: Laaaaaaaag. Some skills cause it pretty bad, such as the Analyze skill. Thank God I've got for PS2, I hear it's worse on PSP.
The Burner: New Game+, believe it or not. The extreme ease just made me lose interest.
The Thoughts: I love the grow book idea - it prevents overleveling, thus you can fight to your heart's content and not worry about overpowering the enemy. In fact, it also adds a good challenge against some enemies.

Atelier Rorona

The Hook: By the same people as Mana Khemia? YES PLEASE!
The Kicker: My god, this game is HILARIOUS.
The Scrappy: The battle system SUUUUUUUUUUUCKS.
The Burner: None really. I don't have problems stopping, thanks to the lulz. It's picking it back up after I stop that's the problem...
The Thoughts: What the hell? I LOOOOVED the Mana Khemia battle system, so what is this generic JRPG bullshit?

Cross Edge

The Hook: Crossover between Disgaea, Mana Khemia, and more. Sold.
The Kicker: N/A
The Scrappy: THIS. GAME. SUCKS. Everything about it is horrible, it's like they didn't even try!
The Burner: The game itself, actually. It drags its feet, the story is boring, the animation is lazy, the battle system isn't really interesting at all...
The Thoughts: What's this? Trinity Universe? HA! I'm not falling for THAT again!

Minecraft

The Hook: Penny Arcade did a comic on it. Decided to try it out.
The Kicker: Not sure. It's okay I guess, I mean--HOLY CRAP IT'S BEEN TWELVE HOURS ALREADY?!
The Scrappy: Once you go multiplayer, SP arguably becomes this. So much more fun to do this with others.
The Burner: You get to a deeeeeeep place in the mine, when suddenly, CREEPER! It blows up, but you survive only to FALL INTO LAVA FROM THE HOLE IT MADE. Those diamond tools and all that stuff you worked your little square ass off to mine? Gone forever. :rageguy:
The Thoughts: It's called minecrack for a reason. Doesn't seem to be slowing down, either - it just seems to be getting better and better...

The World Ends With You

The Hook: DA's contest, actually. Didn't even know about it before then. Looked into it.
The Kicker: This game is a riot. The battle system may overwhelm you at first, but it gets better. OH, it gets better.
The Scrappy: Mingle Mode evolution. I could be playing something while waiting for that stupid Alien. It's not like this is Japan, after all, there's nowhere near the density of DS players.
The Burner: Collection. When you get to that stage, it starts to be a chore.
The Thoughts: God, this game needs a sequel. Also, can't go wrong with JEEZUS BEEEEEMS!

I completely mirror everything with your's on Mana Khemia, except that for me, The Hook was Flay and some of the music.

Welp, anyways, might as well go with what everybody's expecting from me.

Ys Books I & II

The Hook: Mostly just a whim. Heard the music was good, knew it was an Action RPG, but knew nothing else.
The Kicker: The gameplay and music. For some reason, the incredibly simplistic battle system drew me in. And goddammit Yuzo Koshiro is my hero now.
The Scrappy: Three hour long last dungeon raaaaaaaaaaaage. Also a fairly simplistic plot and stupidly hard bosses.
The Burner: Literally no replay value. No New Game+, no hard mode, no secret boss, nothing.
The Thoughts: That's right, [radio edit]es. The series you guys are so sick of me fanboying on a constant basis was based off of a whim.

God Hand

The Hook: It's mother[radio edit]ing God Hand. I had heard the rumors, and my friend let me borrow the game.
The Kicker: The hilarious ridiculousness of the game, the battle system, and sheer willpower that allowed me to transcend the common gamer, driving me to force myself to beat the game.
The Scrappy: Holy shit this game is hard.
The Burner: Holy [radio edit]ing shit this game is so [radio edit]ing hard.
The Thoughts: Best game ever? Possibly.

White Knight Chronicles

The Hook: Role recommended it so I tried it out.

The Kicker: I wanted to become the best spear tank I could be and learn all the ins and outs of the game.

The Scrappy: You aren't the main character, Leonard...is and the game forces you to play as this asshole through some parts of the game.

The Burner: I played the game for nearly a year straight, all day, every day. The burner was finally getting GR10 to GR11. For three days...I solo'd Memorial Servant forty seven times. Thank god I can do it alone in under fifteen minutes because that was just an ordeal. I've been burned out for over 3 months.

The Thoughts: Online play is the best part of this game while at the same time being the absolute worst with the missions being long, repetitive and ridiculous at times.

Minecraft

The Hook: Role again.

The Kicker: Pretty fun to build whatever I want, however I want.

The Scrappy: Mine for an hour, fall in lava.

The Burner: Massive project that took days to complete generally became a chore to finish just got tiring. Continued working after a few days.

The Thoughts: I don't get why people hate on this game. Playing Minecraft for graphics is like playing a fighting game for the script.

Black Ops

The Hook: Friends were talking about it and I decided to get it as well on a whim.

The Kicker: The story is somewhat amazing IMO. Not to mention the online play is way better than MW2.

The Scrappy: Reznov was dead through most of the game. Kids on microphones screaming f-word welfare n-word [radio edit] or just the general populous of people who have a mic.

The Burner: Veteran Difficulty. Lasted only a day though.

The Thoughts: Good game. Very fun if you have some friends or if you're just a prankster, it's fun to get behind people and teabag them for a bit before killing them.

Dead Rising 2

The Hook: I loved the first one.

The Kicker: It was so remarkably similar to the first, the story was good but confusing and the music during boss fights was just completely awesome. Not to mention, Terror Is Reality. American Gladiators with zombies. Also, duct tape FTW. Custom weapons were awesome.

The Scrappy: The AI talked...way more than on the first game. Nothing worse than an overweight african american in a yellow dress with a lead pipe laughing "A-huh....a-huh....ahhhhhh huhhhhh" so I killed her and her wimpy husband on my level up run. Also the story...it made no sense. Not to mention all the freaking running around. DAMN THAT TIME LIMIT!

The Burner: I didn't really burn out. I'm level 50...I can fight most of the bosses without weapons and without taking damage and I have nearly everything but the Chopper bike key and since nobody ever plays TIR anymore, I can't get those achievements.

The Thoughts: I loved the music, the weapons you could make were interesting and creative and when a second player joins in for the fun, it's a good time all around. Especially when you decide to both jump on a pink tricycle and have a race across the strip.

Ys Books I & II
incredibly simplistic battle system
simplistic plot
Ok now i'm getting interested in playing them.

Ontopic:

Pokemon Emerald

The Hook: It's freaking Pokemon.
The Kicker: Battle Frontier. I really love the facilities (Except Battle Palace. Go die in a fire), the Gen 3 pokes are some of the most interesting and the soundtrack is amazing.
The Scrappy: Team Magma and Aqua's stupidness. LET'S BLOW UP A VOLCANO WHILE NOT HAVING ANY ESCAPE PLANS.
The Burner: Actually training pokemon gets boring.
The Thoughts: It's Pokemon. It's not set on Johto. Instant formula for a good game.

Odyssey, ya see~ Odyssey, ya see~

Guess I'll do my top three or so games;

Space Channel 5:

The Hook: Learned about Ulala and the series when she appeared in SEGA Superstars Tennis. Watched a Let's Play and fell in love with it. Eventually I got my hands on a Dreamcast along with the game, and the rest is history~
The Kicker: The sheer hilarious/awesome style of the game; the concept along is this. You're dancing against aliens trying to invade Earth. Also, 'dat soundtrack.
The Scrappy: Too short! It's only an hour long. ;_;
The Burner: The short length, but it's one of those games perfect for playing in-between longer games and in short bursts.
The Thoughts: Had Michael Jackson as 'Space Michael' in it, even with the popstar voicing his VG alter ego. Awesome~ Also, it arguably has the most epic final level in a video game ever.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Skies of Arcadia:

The Hook: I heard about it here and there in magazines, and there was something about an RPG involving airships and only airships that sounded awesome to me, so after three months of hard work I finally managed to track down a copy of the game. T'was so very worth it.
The Kicker: It does everything right and does it well! It also has a very optimistic feel compared to a lot of RPGs these days, and the characters are so incredibly loveable.
The Scrappy: Discoveries. Guide dang it. Also, some of the ship battles could go on forever. I think it took me about two hours to kill Blueheim. o.o;
The Burner: I lost the save file (WAS RIGHT UP TO SOLTIS FFFFF) when my GCN memory card lost all it's data, and so I've been trying to clear it ever since.
The Thoughts: Utterly fantastic and memorable game that totally deserves a sequel. Where is it, SEGA?

Paper Mario:

The Hook: My parents got me this for my 8th birthday as I loved Mario games. I was way more interested in Mario Party 3 though. After preparing myself for an estimated half an hour gaming before returning to Mario Party 3, I'm instead engrossed forever in what is my favourite game ever to this day. /o/
The Kicker: It's the usual Mario game; Peach gets kidnapped, Bowser gets mad and Mario saves the day, but all in RPGness goodness. Also, the Mushroom Kingdom world was amazing to explore and it had a good mix of heartwarming/seriousness/comedy moments.
The Scrappy: God, is there anything I DIDN'T like about this game...? I remember wishing partners had health, but in TTYD, that just turns them into meat shields, so I can't say I feel like that anymore.
The Burner: I cleared it. My time is being eaten up by other games, but I'm steadily re-playing this right now.
The Thoughts: The game that got me into RPGs, and the first I actually cleared by myself without any help from my brother! I'll treasure this one until my dying day~

Golden Sun series

The Hook: My father, actually. He gave me my first copy years ago, I took an instant shine to it.
The Kicker: The battle system and field, and its unique charm. So much fun to be had in Djinn collecting, cutomising classes, solving dungeon puzzles, etc. The characters also have a lot of charm to them, especially in Dark Dawn.
The Scrappy: Relative ease of the first two, ridiculous ease of Dark Dawn. Lack of difference in play style between certain characters (Isaac and Felix, Ivan and Sheba, anyone?) and lack of continuity in cetain aspects.
The Burner: Lack of replay value. Though this applies less to TLA due to a Hard Mode. Burnout doesn't usually last that long, I typically enjoy another playthrough not that long after my last. Especially during this year!
The Thoughts: Do I need to say much else? Pretty much everyone here knows these games!

The Legend of Dragoon

The Hook: Having played the demo when I was like, six.
The Kicker: The gameplay. The Additions make the battle system one of my favorites out of all turn-based RPGs. Also the humorous dialogue and badass Dragoon transformations. AND LAVITZ.
The Scrappy: The horrible voice acting, then again, it's hilariously bad, so I actually like it. Oh, and there's some pretty bad glitches from time to time.
The Burner: Some of the dungeons near the end are just incredibly frustrating.
The Thoughts: God, this game is like, my childhood hero. So much nostalgia and greatness. Definitely the best PS1 RPG, in my opinion.

Devil May Cry 3

The Hook: I had heard about how awesome it is and watched my friend play it once. Then later, another friend gave it to me for my birthday.
The Kicker: The opening [radio edit]ing cutscene. Good God, Dante. How badass can you be? The gameplay is also pretty much amazing in every way.
The Scrappy: Some of the stages were hard to navigate. Hard to think of much that I don't like about this game.
The Burner: Nothing really made me burn off on this game, aside from me playing it too much.
The Thoughts: This game is just... so damn badass. Definitely some of the most fun I've had playing a game.

Nier

The Hook: Read about it a long time ago in GameInformer, and was intrigued by the concept. Then I heard other people talk about how much fun it was, and knew I had to get it.
The Kicker: The sexy opening. The battle system is really fun, and they pretty much throw you into a gigantic battle at the beginning of the game.
The Scrappy: The goddamn sidequests. There's a reason I skipped most of them.
The Burner: The freaking Junk Heap. Horrible, horrible dungeon that they make you revisit several times.
The Thoughts: Amazing Action RPG that I affectionately dub "God of Zelda May Touhou". The overall gameplay is really reminiscent of Legend of Zelda, with the gore of God of War, the badassness of Devil May Cry, and good lord the bullet hell in this game.

Donkey Kong Country 2 (Diddy's Kong Quest):

The Hook: It was one of the SNES games my brothers owned, and I often tried it out as a kid. Wasn't until I returned to it later in life that I fell in love with it.
The Kicker: Dixie is superior to DK in everyway and it had everything that made the first game great, along with fresh takes on levels, bonus levels and animal buddies.
The Scrappy: Nintendo Hard. :argh:
The Burner: Apart from that one level that may stump me, nothing really burned me out playing this game. I never did attempt the Lost World though.
The Thoughts: My favourite 2-D platformer ever, with an impressive soundtrack, characters filled with life and personality and hard, but not in a frustrating way. Love it~

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom:

The Hook: I was never big on fighting games, until my friend invited me round to play Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 on XBLA. Ever since then, I've loved Capcom's wacky fighters and I promptly picked this up when it came out.
The Kicker: The unique characters. You've got Ryu and the heroic Ken the Eagle, Frank West and the villanous Doronjo, big hunker Tekkaman and sweet little Roll...also, the deep fighting style.
The Scrappy: Survival is way too easy that one can basically go on forever. Also, you need a Classic/Gamecube Controller to play the game properly.
The Burner: Fighting over and over and over and over with only so many people wears one out eventually, but there's still some time left in this game for me, considering I've had it for half a year now.
The Thoughts: The game that got me back into pure fighting games; also the first time I've ever used Chun Li and Ryu since Street Fighter II. Didn't they change a lot! /o/ Also this game half got me into Mega Man Legends, the other half being Boyd.

Pikmin 2:

The Hook: I tried Pikmin 1 out, but was put off; although I loved the game, it had the 30 day time limit and I hate being pressured to clear a game like that, so when Pikmin no time limit 2 came along, I was pretty happy to say the least!
The Kicker: Firstly, controlling your own army of adorable Pikmin is fun beyond belief. The animals of the Pikmin world are also fun to fight and creative and finding treasure takes forever, so lots to bring you back!
The Scrappy: Gets insanely hard after a while, and it can be annoying when you need something like purple pikmin and have to find a place underground to get them.
The Burner: The hardness did kind of burn me out, plus like Skies I lost my save file for this game.
The Thoughts: One of my favourite Gamecube games, and favourite games ever. I really hope Nintendo reveals Pikmin 3 soon. ;_;

Read "Hooks" as "Hookers." Came into this topic expecting...something else. Anyways.

MegaMan Zero

The Hook: I liked MegaMan Xtreme 2 (my first MegaMan game), why not try this?
The Kicker: CHARGEABLE Z SABER
The Scrappy: The points system. I don't mind the difficulty anymore, but I HAVE to get an "A" rank. To that extent, the lack of subtanks/health upgrades if you don't want to use Cyber Elves.
The Burner: Dying at any point, which means no A Rank, which means reset and try again. Gets old after a while.
The Thoughts: Where's my Megamanning, dammit :argh:

Yggdra Union

The Hook: *reads the back of the box* "Partial Nudity? Yeeeeeeesssssssss" Watched my brother play it and it looked interesting.
The Kicker: [yt-sound]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5EQ9qD6oMo&fmt=18[/yt-sound] This made me LIKE getting my ass handed to me. Game Over? YES I CAN HEAR THIS MUSIC AGAIN!
The Scrappy: Critical hits. [radio edit] you, Aegina.
The Burner: The True Ending. No final boss fight, and it comes AFTER the main plot already came to a climax and finished.
The Thoughts: PSP Remake has an extra "Bad" Ending? Screw the true ending, True Final Boss, here I come!

Sound the horn and call the cry: "How many of them can we make die?"

Dept. Heaven as a whole

The Hook: Saw somebody on another forum talking about Riviera and thought it looked cool. Blundered through it, liked it for the most part, checked out the rest of the series.
The Kicker: Gameplay throughout the series is consistently creative yet easy to get the hang of. It's easily the series' best characteristic.
The Scrappy: Two of the three games so far have had interesting plots right up until some point lategame, when they both make you kill a large number of innocents for no adequately explained reason, then don't let you forget about it for the rest of the game. I think they're intended to show that the protagonists have vices and are not just shining beacons of morality, but they handle it in such a hamfisted way that, combined with at least one sympathetic antagonist per game, it comes across as "protagonists are actually evil, antagonists are good, protagonists are just being mean to those poor antagonists."
The Burner: While both games have some really amazingly well-done climactic moments, the battles against faceless mooks in between can get incredibly tedious. All three games are currently sitting in a state of somewhere around 85% item completion (or in Knights' case, three out of seven endings unlocked) because I just can't bring myself to slog through all the in-between stuff again.
The Thoughts: All good, solid games that could be truly great if Sting didn't have so many stinkin' hippies on the writing team.

I never did attempt the Lost World though.
I recommend you try it out though. There is a cool secret in the first level where you can get all the required coins without going through all the bonus levels if that is what is putting you off from trying these levels. Go to gamefads to find out how to do it.

Warning: some levels will make you want to break objects.

Advance Wars series
The Hook: AW2 was a blind buy. I had memories of forums praising this game so I went for it. Then I got the other games.
The Kicker: The very easy to learn yet very complex battle system. You need to know your units, COs, terrain's strengths and weaknesses well.
The Scrappy: Some levels are so hard I may restart over and over again.
The Burner: Usually after a hard level I put it down. Then I pick it up the next day to start the next mission.
The Thoughts: I love that you do not have to worry about keeping units alive like Fire Emblem as they are expendable. I am put off by Fire Emblem because I hate having storyline characters killed off. Also the COs personalities are a blast both for the Wars World trilogy and Days of Ruin.

Mega Man 9

The Hook: The 8 bit graphics. I actually never truly played a Mega Man game before. I liked seeing how a company places emphasis on gameplay over graphics.
The Kicker: It was a fun game.
The Scrappy: It was difficult at first but then I got used to the idea. Before I struggled, now I managed to take down all 8 robot masters and their stages buster only, no E-tanks. Never tried doing that with the Wily stages. Still want to take on the Hard Mode Wily stages, I only played the robot master stages in hard mode.
The Burner: I guess it wasn't the game itself but there are so many other amazing games now. Perhaps I will go back and take on Wily stages normal mode with buster only (as much as I can) and Wily stages hard mode (superhero mode).
The Thoughts: FABULOUS JEWEL MAN!

Pokemon Gold (which later led to the other games)

The Hook: Saw another person on the bus play it. I transfered from another school due to bullies and therefore it is safe to play Pokemon in public at that time (now I am in college, now it is always cool to play Pokemon)
The Kicker: The battle system is so much fun. Easy to learn, hard to master.
The Scrappy: Why is the giraffe Pokemon not good enough for the overused tier. Make a new giraffe Pokemon for overused tier, Gamefreak, after all you made like a million cat Pokemon already.
The Burner: Burnout is usually short. It is so much fun to replay these by changing starters, making own challenges such as a don't evolve run (which I did for Heart Gold, it was very difficult btw).
The Thoughts: when will he have a donkey, a lemur, a llama, a goat, (insert animal not used yet) Pokemon?

Legend of Dragoon

The Hook: Back before I moved out on my own, I had a PS Emulator. Had no games. Friend let me borrow a copy of FF7 and LoD. Should have played LoD first... It's so much more fun.
The Kicker: Additions! :D Oh, GOD, does it liven up the gameplay!
The Scrappy: Item Limits are annoying - you'll quickly run out of room. The other problem is the relative worthlessness of both the Light and Earth dragoons. All the others have their place in combat.
The Burner: A broken disc 4. No joke. You can only play the same area so many times before it becomes a bore. Never could get past that tree...
The Thoughts: You'd be a fool not to love this game. However, there's a few problems with it - the Light Dragoons, for example. You'd think they're ubermages, right? They have no additions, and have the best magic stat in the game. But their Dragoon form SUUUUUUUCKS. They're actually better off tossing item spells - they only get two shots of their only decent Dragoon Magic before they're plum out of MP. Also, Kongol suffers the same problem - ironically, he's supposed to be the uber physical guy. Too bad he has the worst multiplier in the game, and the Dragoon Form sucks.

FF7

The Hook: Broke my RPG cherry. Yes, it was my first.
The Kicker: Actually, the potential with the materia system. What can I say, I like making OMGWTFHAX combos with them.
The Scrappy: The game kinda sucks after Midgar. No, really. The ubercity that was midgar was very appealing, but the second you leave it it's kinda... meh.
The Burner: Getting Chocobo Race-only materia. Dammit, I can't even get ONE of them...
The Thoughts: Yeeeeah, unlike most people, my first REAL play of this game was AFTER the nostaliga goggles came off. See, I didn't have a Playstation until after I moved out of the house, and my cherry was popped at a friend's place. I got it from a friend after I got an emulator for my compy back in high school, and my reaction was basically: Wow, this was nowhere near what I remember it being.

Chrono Trigger

The Hook: Cousin had it. I loved it, so I got it.
The Kicker: At the time, the dual/triple Tech feature was frigg'n awesome.
The Scrappy: Taking off the nostalgia goggles. No joke - when I got it again for the DS, my reaction was: This is nowhere NEAR as much fun as I remember... I used to play it all the time.
The Burner: Once you unlock all the endings, there's really nothing to do.
The Thoughts: Dang, talk about a huge reversal. After my maturity as a gamer had risen by so much, the fun I had with Chrono Trigger went way down. The fact that they added a weapon even MORE broken than the Rainbow for Crono is just... REALLY? 250 Attack power with a 90% Crit rate? Attack power maxes out at 255! щ(゚Д ゚щ) WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT

Paper Mario

The Hook: I'm a Nintendo fan and a Mario fan. I'd never even heard of this game so I rented it one day. I'm glad I did.
The Kicker: It was fun, it was a new take on the Mario universe that I loved and it had a decent story. Not to mention all the badges, items and partners to find.
The Scrappy: I never actually owned the game until years later. It was very frustrating to go back to the rental place and find your save data had been erased or written over.
The Burner: What burn? I can play the game for a day straight, beat it and play it all over again.
The Thoughts: One of the best games I've ever played IMHO. When you combine Mario and RPG elements, you can't go wrong.

Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door

The Hook: I loved the first Paper Mario. Imagine my surprise to find a sequel.
The Kicker: Smoother, cleaner graphics compared to the first. An entirely new world to explore, new people to meet and small twists to the combat system. You even got a Yoshi on this one and Luigi was off on his own adventure similar to yours. Throw in you can play as Bowser in classic NES style gameplay on some levels and it get's better.
The Scrappy: You meet Bow from the first game once you've beaten the game but she isn't in your party. Apparently, all your partners were given updated sprites for this game but Bow is the one you can meet.
The Burner: Glitzville arena. Once you've entered the arena, you have to fight thirty or fifty matches in a row to get to the top and sometimes you don't even rise in rank. Even being affected by things like don't jump, don't use your hammer, don't use items, only your partner can fight, taunt five times in a row...such handicaps weren't that severe. Now if they did it on certain fights, I can see how the fight would become difficult, maybe even impossible.
The Thoughts: A great sequel and a truly remarkable story that fits well. Even the moments spent playing as Bowser are fun. A must have if you're going to play the PM series.

Super Paper Mario

The Hook: Paper Mario of course.
The Kicker: It was...interesting.
The Scrappy: No classic RPG style fighting where you bump an enemy, you go into combat. Everything was done in real time. The funny, colorful Mario characters everyone came to know was nowhere to be seen. The ONLY Mario things in the game were the occasional items, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser and a poster of Bow. Everything else was these confetti paper looking people that scared the crap out of me more than anything.
The Burner: Despite the story being good and it having an interesting new way to handle gameplay, even by swapping between all four characters at any given time, this game was just not that fun to play and was actually pretty boring. I mean sure, there's the 100 battles thing that's been famous since PM1 but this time it was just annoying. Maybe one day I'll pick this up and play again, but not while it's still in my mind and bad games take a generally long time to flush out of my system.
The Thoughts: Interesting, but not a must have. I'd recommend at least trying it out but people's opinions will probably sit like mine after awhile.

That's all from me for now. I have so many games to go through that to list them all right here would be two to three pages in and of itself.

Yggdra Union goes so hard :3

I'll just do two for now.

The Total War Series

The Hook: I honestly can't remember - in fact it might have been a TV show "Time Commanders" which used the Rome: Total War engine.
The Kicker: A combination of the epic battles, fluid combination of turn based empire building and real-time battles and the decent mods. Hell, its probably my favourite series overall though none of them are my favourite game individually. Out of the series my favourite so far is Medieval TW 2 is I think the most well balanced of them.

The Scrappy: The games can get pretty repetitive in the later stages. By the time you are an all-conquering super-power auto-resolving most of your battles the game has lost most of its interest. Hence why I've never conquered the entire world in any of the games - it's not that it's too hard, if anything it's that it's too easy late-game. Also the games tend to be a little unrealistic as if you capture all a factions settlements then they are defeated (except in Barbarian Invasion) which encourages an unrealistic focus on sieging towns and cities rather than pitched battles.
The Burner: Repetitiveness, or difficulty in the case of Empires TW. (I feel I have to play on the top difficulty and that's a hell of a lot harder on Empires than in previous games) Generally though I get bored by the time I get into a dominant poisition - the challenge and gameplay variety really suffer after the first half of the nations are destroyed. I tend to come back to the games pretty fast though.
The Thoughts: One of the most innovative game systems I've played and even now the games keep coming!

Baldur's Gate II

The Hook: My Dad bought it, I ended up playing it far more than him though. :)
The Kicker: The best storyline I have ever seen in a game, incredibly detailed characters with backstories who comment on things in the game and interact with eachother, solid ADnD gameplay and so much freedom the main quest seems almost like side-issue at times. Seriously awesome game; my favourite without a doubt. It's pretty outdated graphically now but it's bursting with charm and never fails to draw me in. Great re-playability on its own and the game can be vastly improved with mods.
The Scrappy: If you've played it as many times as I have the first level at very least gets dull (although there's actually a useful mod which allows you to skip it) and most of it just isn't dificult enough. If you've played a lot then only certain areas/bosses pose that much of a challenge. Also some gameplay features are really easy to exploit. For example you can steal items from one Lich (a dangerous opponant) by running in and out again quickly enough. They won't follow you through two sets of doors. You can also use this to take out magic users easier by triggering their protections, running away and waiting for said protections to expire before returning and attacking them when they are un-protected.
The Burner: Not being difficult consistantly enough and the repetitiveness of the early levels. Usually I play this to the end then don't play it again for maybe half a year. It's an all or nothing game. Definately nothing casual about it.
The Thoughts: Epic game is epic.

Maybe I'll add some more later...

Gotcha Force

The Hook: A friend brought it over to my house one day, and we screwed around on multiplayer.
The Kicker: Holy shit this game is fun. It's like Custom Robo on crack and more action-y. Also there's so many different Gotcha Borgs it's insane like 200 of them.
The Scrappy: Horrible voice acting and really 'meh' plot.
The Burner: Having to return it to my friend. >_>
The Thoughts: I swear, this game is way too [radio edit]ing obscure. It is seriously amazing.

Tales of Symphonia

The Hook: Peo, and previous experience with Tales games.
The Kicker: The overall brilliance of the game, really. The characters were lovable, well-written and developed spectacularly. The battle system is great fun and very dynamic, and the story, while cliche'd, is very powerful. Plus there are just so many extras to seek out. Also it has a great soundtrack.
The Scrappy: YMIR FOREST AND THE TEMPLE OF DARKNESS :argh: But no really, apart from them it's actually pretty hard thinking of bad points for this game.
The Burner: Needing to get a load of other games on my To Play list out of the way >_> I'll scour the game fully once my To Do list is more free.
The Thoughts: Incredible game, really. Whatever the haters say, I felt this was a very well-designed and well-presented game.

The Legend of Dragoon

The Hook: Peytral convinced me to play it. Plus I'd seen gameplay of it before and was more than willing to finally get around to playing it.
The Kicker: Additions and Dragoons! It'd probably be pretty dull without them. Also a powerful story, although cliche'd. Also, MERU <3
The Scrappy: Shana  It's prone to failing to load at scenes, which is INCREDIBLY frustrating. It also has horrendous graphics to the point you can't even tell where you're going at some points.
The Burner: Finishing the game 100%. There isn't that much extra content, so I got it done relatively quickly. I'll play it again sometime, but there's no reason to play it anymore for a while.
The Thoughts: Very fun oldschool RPG. The Addition system really livened things up, and Dragoons are just ridiculously badass. Definitely worth a try at least.

Mega Man Legends:

The Hook: Hilariously the first ever time I heard of the game was coming across the scene where Mega Man walks in on Roll accidently on Youtube. I then got interested in trying out each Mega Man series, and then Boyd + Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom finally got me to play it.
The Kicker: The characters. The Bonnes are such loveable and memorable villains in paticular. Also, the world of the game. It felt like Mega Man, but at the same time, like a breath of fresh air from the sci-finess of the other games.
The Scrappy: Controls can be flimsy at times, and the music isn't very memorable. Doesn't help music only plays half the time in the game.
The Burner: Beating the game, although losing my save file 90 percent the way through didn't help.
The Thoughts: My favourite Mega Man series, and the first Mega Man game I actually beat. It's not a perfect game, but one you can't help but love as you play it. I even beat this on the day that I got my GCSE exam results to celebrate! /o/ That was a good day in general~ Can't wait for Legends 3!

Read "Hooks" as "Hookers." Came into this topic expecting...something else. Anyways.

XD Same here. Cool topic idea though.

I think I'll be playing Mega Man Legends soon, my friend is gonna make me.

Ace Attorney
The Hook: I'd heard on the internet that it was awesome. Asked for it for Christmas.
The Kicker: Absolutely the characters. So quirky, and lively. Made the game feel so colorful. Favorite is Maya. The plot twists are exciting enough to keep interest high.
The Scrappy: Jumped the shark eventually.
The Burner: Simply playing through it, and knowing the story. After a year or so it's time to replay though.
The Thoughts: It's just so lovable. It's funny, unique, dramatic... And it makes a good icon, everyone knows what's up when someone goes OBJECTION!

Harvest Moon Back to Nature
The Hook: My brother watched an older friend play it and really liked it. (that guy ended up a sleazeball btw just saying)
The Kicker: The fact that the game was one-of-a-kind. What other (good) game is about farming? I enjoyed organizing a farm and watching it grow. Plus, getting married was funny. XD
The Scrappy: At first, I was too young to be good at it. I would get bored. You definitely need patience in this game, and you have to work hard to make anything cool happen. It's not a game for the casual gamer, despite first glance.
The Burner: It may be fun, buuuut once you make a great farm and get married... that's it. XD Nothing else to do.
The Thoughts: The music in this game is very sweet, could easily make anyone feel nostalgic even if they didn't play the game in their childhood.

SONIC ADVENTUUURE
The Hook: My awesome neighbors had it and everything they liked was cool.
The Kicker: I... I don't know. It's Sonic. You just keep playing. oh and the chao garden was awesome!
The Scrappy: MOTHER [radio edit]ING CAMERA. THAT CAMERA SUCKS. And the glitchiness of it.
The Burner: It's just not a great game. I still play it every few months though, highly nostalgic to me.
The Thoughts: The ancient Echidna world with Tikal was super cool. I love the mysterious element it adds to the plot. Where else do you get Miami Beach Town + talking animals + ancient mayan ruins?

Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
The Hook: I rented OoS from Blockbuster and wanted to play the other one.
The Kicker: The fun little world to explore and chop up with your sword!
The Scrappy: Hmm... nothing wrong with this game. I think the world is less interesting than OoS.
The Burner: I stopped for a while when I got stuck on a dungeon.
The Thoughts: Solid good game.

TALES OF SYMPHONIA: KNIGHTS OF RATATOSK
The Hook: It is the sequel to a wonderful game.
The Kicker: Thinking that the colletexLloyd AMV I found on youtube was based on real game events. Nice graphics.
The Scrappy: CHARACTERS. BATTLE SYSTEM. DUNGEONS. THAT STUPID FALLING GROUND MINIGAME. STORYLINE. NEW OVERWORLD MAP. EMIL'S VOICE. MARTA'S VOICE. THE DAMN COURAGE LINE. LAME ROMANCE. THE FACT THAT NOBODY DIES WHO SHOULD. THE SITUATION WITH LLOYD COULD HAVE BEEN COOLER.
The Burner: IT SUCKED.
The Thoughts: SUCKED BAD.
