Except for all you could explore all of Tamriel, it was largely empty because lol early 90s game. Sure, they did good with what they had, but they just didn't have a lot. I do agree with you on the lack of exploring all of Morrowind, though. Vvardenfell is a pretty big portion of it, but there was more to it over on the mainland. Tribunal was a nice addition in that regard with visiting Mournhold and such, as well as Bloodmoon's Solstheim being a really good distraction, but yeah. I suppose it means there are still plenty, plenty more good games they could make exploring the rest of Tamriel before the setting gets too done and dusted. I actually expected the Summerset Isles as well thanks to the hints of dialogue found in Oblivion, but Skyrim is just as acceptable an alternative in my opinion. |

No, I completely agree with Arena being really sparse, I just like it because all of Tamriel is there, even if little is given about it. It's a shame we can't have the quests and graphics of Oblivion with the absolutely massive world of Daggerfall and the skill progression of Morrowind, because that would basically make the game perfect. What's left, anyway? Black Marsh, Valenwood, Elsweyr, Hammerfall maybe, Summerset Isles, I think. That's at least an even 10. We've at least gone to Cyrodiil, Morrowind, and High Rock, so no worries there. |

Jax, what you need to do is follow the Tamriel Rebuilt project. They're getting VERY close to releasing The Sacred East, and Kragenmoor District isn't far behind either. I'd say, within a couple years, Morrowind Province should be complete. |

Yet another reason to hunt down a new compy. I hate this motherboard so much... Stupid lack of PCIe slots... I hope they elaborate more on this new system. I hope I don't have to do the precision leveling I did in morrowind just to keep up with the scaling difficulty... |

If you think the precision leveling in Morrowind is bad (it's not, in my opinion), don't EVER play Oblivion. At least, not without downloading a fan patch to make the enemy scaling more reasonable. |

Yeah, I stopped playing Oblivion as soon as I had to get into the first Gate in the main quest because the skills I had leveled up didn't help me at all with staying alive in Oblivion, and no-matter how I levelled up afterward, I couldn't proceed with the main quest. >_< |

I don't know how to feel about this. I mean, new ES is grounds for serious brosessions and fonts of awesome, but Oblivion fell short in terms of atmosphere and enviorment. Bethesda is really going to have to work hard to make a fun, interesting and unique landscape out of Skyrim. I'm not gonna ask for another Vvardenfell, but it should be as cool as Solstheim at least. And, like obvious, improve the game engine. I mean, potentially, this is game of the year material, but Bethesda just needs to get a good focus on what makes an open-ended game like the ES promises good and hope to deliver it. But this should be so cool regardless. |

oh hey how the hell did this friggin incredible trailer not get posted part of it is the same as the previous teaser thing but trust me it gets different I lost it at 1:10 And the in-game segments shown here (everything besides that metal plate showing the prophecy or whatever, and the dragon opening its eye) are recorded from the 360 version. Lord knows what craziness the PC version will look like (by the way if you don't get the PC versions of Elder Scrolls games you're dumb unless your computer absolutely can't handle them) There have been a fair number of interviews and previews and things that have told about how some things will be different, some things will be more like Morrowind, some more like Oblivion, etc, but I lack the willingness to dig it all up right now, you can find it on your own. |

I want a Morrowind style world, one that has static elements and so really rewards random exploration and just taking off into the wilderness. Where you can find cool shit and within this cool shit you find challenging monsters and nifty pieces of gear rather than stuff scaling to your level and the same generic item drops that go with it. I want guards that aren't psychic, so playing a thief isn't as demoralising or unpredictable and so that I actually feel like levelling matters, because otherwise I just feel like a nuisance rather than a necessity in the game world. I want more story than Oblivion had - the setting of Morrowind was unique, and that went a long way to making the story and worldbuilding really captivating. All the factions and guilds that you could work for and progress in and develop also went a long way to making the world feel huge and adaptable and interesting - there were so many options you could take your character, whereas the guilds and the sidequests in Oblivion just felt... generic. And finally, I want polearms again. If any of those Morrowind elements can be provided for Skyrim on top of an Oblivion style combat system and magicka restoration, then I will most likely be a very happy man. I imagine Skyrim is more fun to explore than Oblivion's setting as well already, just because I'm a huge sucker for frozen wastelands and loved Bloodmoon as a result. But the trailer did really get me excited and even if none of those things are promised, I'm still no doubt going to pick the game up and enjoy it for hopefully quite some time. |

I'm thinking it will be based off of Bloodmoon, considering the similarities in climate and appearance. Hopefully this means it will capture the feeling of Solstheim without copying it. I'm also hoping for a more diverse landscape. I think Morrowind's setting, Vvardenfell, lead some people to get their expectations a bit too high, considering it had deserts next to volcanoes, next to swamps, next to plains all within half a days walk, but it would be absolutely cool to see some of that unique landscape return. There is a ton you can do with Skyrim, and I'm sure Bethesda won't make the same mistake they did with Oblivion. I also agree a better guard AI would be nice, but a better AI in general would be sweet too. I don't honestly care if everyone acts like they have their own lives, so long as they act naturally and Bethesda improves the dialogue options. Hearing people repeat things over and over with bad voice acting was tear-jerking. I also want combat to be challenging, but at the same time multifaceted. I want to be able to pick off enemies slowly as a thief, or obliterate them outright with magic, or if it comes down to swords, I don't want to just, block, block, block, hit, block block, etc. I want challenging combat and from the trailer, it looks like they're trying to do just that. I didn't think the plot of Morrowind was super exciting, but the amount of depth Morrowind had as a world was astounding. The Houses and guilds all seemed like competitors for your attention and every one was unique. It was fun to do things and gain ranks, but at the same time I think Oblivion did do womething right with the Daedra quests. Those were great fun and the items you got were interesting to say the least. Todd Howard commented on the weapon system and hinted that it would be tier based, that is to say you would be concerned with the big picture (swords, axes, arrows, etc) and then wheedle down to more specific types within those big categories. He said that he wants the weapons to feel unique and special and that polearms in Morrowind weren't that special for him. He didn't say explicitly that they'd be gone, but he did hint that it was unlikely. I'm also really hopeful for the Lore that Skyrim brings to the table. I love reading books in Morrowind about anything I could get my hands on, so I'm hoping that Skyrim will be full of interesting reads filled with Lore to compliment the story. They seem to have gone to great depth to make an interesting and unique atmosphere through use of legends and prophecy, so I'm terrifically excited. |
