I'll have to disagree with all of you on Sveta. I think the were-form is made pretty usless thanks to unleashes. I mean, you COULD do that, but unleashes can pull off those crazy AoE damage now. Otherwise her form WOULD be worth it. But now what's the point, you know? Plus, you can't use unleashes, djinn, or summons with her in that form - and she has CRAP for equipment selection. It pretty much FORCES a resist build on you, and there's not much you can do about it either.
I don't know how to break this nicely to you, Role, but have you actually tried Beastform at least ONCE?

Were-chick doesn't need unleashes when she has both the option to attack all enemies whenever she wants, all her Scrapper class series' EPAs and her Attack doubled way beyond a 1000 by level 50 on said form.

If you wish to know: AoE = Area of Effect, aka. multiple targeting.

Man, you guys just don't understand how awesome Himi is because you can't look past the game like I can. This is a massive disappointment to me as a human being. Once again, i'm alone in the world.

Adachi is not amused.

I just got to the point where I have all the characters. I can now say that Eoleo has jumped up in my eyes, mostly because he's Jack Sparrow while also a Martian Pirate (view that in the right way and it's only a step from Mercury Proxian, and therefore BADASS), and in some ways so has Rief, he's pretty awesome with far more characterisation than his mother ever had. Sveta remains my favourite though, mostly because she just seems so d'awwww. Acts strong but really seems sweet, you just want to hug her.

But Himi? I don't really like Himi.

"Hey guys check this out, I'm the walking MacGuffin/Deus Ex Machina/Plot Device you guys need to finish this out and point the way to go while having damn near no character of my own thus far!"

She might change. I admit that it's still early days and she has time to redeem herself in my eyes. But failing that, she joins Tyrell and Mia in the list of characters I feel "meh" about. Even Matthew feels like he has more personality than her, and he speaks in punctuation and emotes.

After beating the game, my pick is still Sveta. Especially since she did pretty much half the damage on the final boss and was the only one on the front line team to survive.
She outdamages Megido on a regular attack. Holy shit. So beefy.

Sveta is probably my favourite, either her or Amiti. However, having them both in my party would have left me without a group healer.... hey, maybe I'll mess around with classes some.

But I mean, bar none, my absolute favourite of every character has to be...

I like Karis purely for her battle sprite, she looks so pretty. XD Sveta is cute, and is probably the deepest character. I like Reif and Amiti, too. Amiti has cool clothes.

Any info on the characters ages? We know Eoleo is about thirty, and in the beginning of the game (depending on how you respond to a certain "emotion face" question) Garet states that Tyrell is sixteen. OH and

Out of the Children of Vale I'd have to say Karis, (she is HAWT has great healing psynergy and a strong personality) with Matthew being a close second (how can you not like the first hero in the series who not only talks, but his first word is CENSORED!) Of Team Royals, I'd say Eoleo in terms of story and overall design/character, with a tossup between Himi and Sveta for gameplay. Himi would be my first choice but we only get her for so little time...

~ :venus_djinn:
i agree but i like karis for her strenght/defense/healing ablities i used them all and they were useful.and yes all at the same time.

Currently at this point in the game, I haven't gotten Eoleo or Himi and only had Sveta temporarily. And I can safely say that so far, I like pretty much every character *except* Tyrell, who is Garet but with any kind of endearing traits replaced by brash idiocy to the point of making me roll my eyes any time he so much as breathes.

As soon as I got Sveta, though, I was incredibly pleased. So far she's my favourite, but I really need to see more of her to make an accurate judgement.
you mean naked right?

In terms of actual characters, Pewter. That guy is seven kinds of win.

In terms of battle, so far I have no favorites. I still have yet to properly fiddle with Sveta and Himi, but I hear Camelot did an ass pull with Himi by not giving her any tri-element classes... The others? Did I ever mention why I hate Felix and Sheba? Yeah, THAT.
pewter was kinda a jerk at first but i like him. Btw " I still have yet to properly fiddle with Sveta and Himi "this sounds sexual.

Don't know them all, but:
Matthew = 16 - stated in the interview with the Takahashi Brothers
Tyrell = 16 - stated by Garet in the game.
Karis = ?, but probably around the same age as Matthew and Tyrell
Rief = ?
Amiti = about 19, as the Alchemy Well started working around 20 years ago when a certain Adept visited and knocked his mother up
Sveta = ?
Eoleo = he'd be around 31-32, since he was a toddler in TLA
Himi = ?

Amiti, yo. I love pretty much everything about the guy. Personality (very strongly moral, always polite and understanding.), design, battle ability, and his epicawesome battle model. There is no aspect of Amiti I don't like, bat maybe the fact he can't access Paladin and can't equip Long Swords. XD

I really liked everyone, honestly. Sveta was so adorable! Totally different from what I imagined. Eoleo was a raging badass. Epic design, tough and brash personality, just like you'd expect. XD I adore Karis, too. I love how spunky she is, plus so hawt. Rief is miles and MILES better than Mia, seriously. He seemed like just a know-it-all at first, but he's a sweet kid. XP Ended up really liking him. I don't get all the Tyrell hate. What's so bad about him? Sure, he's hotheaded, and he can be a bit rude at times, but he's not that bad at all. Definitely not as bad as some chalk him up to be.

As for Himi... well, I quote one of her lines. "I am with you." Yep, she sure said it. That line sums her presence up perfectly, while everyone else gave their reason for joining, Himi was just kinda... there. Like everyone else said, she wasn't given enough time. I hope this is rectified in GS4.

Also NOWELL! She's so cute! I bet she'll be playable in GS4. It makes no sense that they'd introduce this seemingly important character, only to drop her after 5 minutes and mention her once more in the whole game. They MUST have a large role planned for her in GS4.

I don't quite understand the Tyrell hate either, although me hating Garet and not Tyrell is odd......

I'm expecting for some reason that we meet Piers and Nowell comes along with us. Just having her leave would be something I can't really imagine Camelot doing.

I have. While it was strong, yes (280% Attack multiplier?!), I found the drawbacks crippling. The main one being LACK OF EQUIPMENT SUPPORT. Her extremely limited equipment options are what kill it for me, especially when it forces the Umbra Gear on her like that.

I do like that she had a personality, though. As a character, she was great. But in battle, eh... she could do with more versatility. I hate how it forces a resistance build, I really do. That, and the other problem - she's optimized for the first four characters (save for ONE alt class), and that really turns me off. And, of course, she's too much of a risk on anything that uses djinn killing techniques...

I DO plan on having a second run where I focus on the Royal Team more, though. Right now I've got a big negative view on them, but a lot of it could just be that I really couldn't optimize my equipment with them since the Children of Vale got my priority focus. After that, I may revise my opinion of them. But since I didn't get much of a focus on them, it could just be the team I prioritized that caused my opinion on the matter...

@Himi comment: Indeed, she's a filler character if I ever saw one. And Eoleo, though he actually had a reason to join up, still seemed kinda... just there. To be honest, the game was too short for eight characters. An approach like TBS → TLA would have been much better, and would have allowed them to have much more character growth.

Actually I have Himi on master as it is. She can't access samurai/ronin, that's it though I think.

On topic, favourite character be Sveta.

You only have to use the Umbra Gear for Apollo Sanctum. She can have anything else at any other time, it's just you probably won't because it's some pretty good gear that you just get handed without having to forge or drop.
And for her equipment, it's fine. While she doesn't get new equipment often, every time she does it's a respectable upgrade until the next one. With maybe one exception in the Beast Knuckles if you didn't get them (Which is your fault, since they're not hard to find.). The Umbra Knuckles are solid for the endgame, having around as much power as a Verdant Sword or the Masamune and more useful unleashes (Venom, Life Steal, Stun, all have respectable damage increases). The upgrades actually proceed just as well for the bonus material - the Bloody Claw is very powerful (if cursed, but then again you get the Cleric's Ring immediately before you get them.) and from what I can tell the Anspi Knuckle is probably something like the best weapon in the game. I haven't gotten one yet, though.

You also don't need to use her djinn to summon; she does way more damage on her own over time without weakening her at all. In fact it makes her ridiculously powerful for up to nine turns in damage and defense, dishing out 700 and taking single digits, and this is opposed to being reduced to being one-shot and doing a max of 200 with Megido.

Now I understand the risk of using her on enemies with djinn storm/djinn blast, since it would make her relatively useless seeing as how she actually needs more than one turn to equal the damage of a summon rush. But summon rushing is for scrubs anyway. Yeah, I said it.

I suppose from a very, very, very pedantic view she isn't completely optimal... but in practice, that doesn't really come up with the sole exception of the fight against Dullahan, since the rest of the game is so easy it doesn't matter. You don't need advanced tactics and absurd min/maxing to beat Dark Dawn (With the exception of aforementioned Dullahan), just using the characters you like to fight enemies.

TL;DR

Also I never used her beast form. Game's easy as is, didn't wanna make it easier. :U (well I did use it twice against regular enemies to see the attacks, and that's it)

>>Implying that I use summons.

Also, Master Matt the Sol Ninja regularly deals 1500 damage to the final boss when buffed. Who RESISTS Megiddo.

I imagine most of my first impressions are based on them with less than peak equipment, thus why I'm going to do another run focusing on them. While I have a bad first impression, I also haven't given them too much of a chance. I HAVE played around with them, but it's just that. Right now, my impressions of them aren't too good, especially for Amiti and Eoleo. However, if I focus on them a bit more I'm sure I could find a new light on them.
