Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

I'd say lock it, I can't see it serving any more purpose. At this stage it's just gonna lead to more arguments, which I know is the opposite reason of why I participated in the original thread in the first place.

... What's your definition of cordial, Bliss? >_>

And I would say yes, though if Vae or whoever would like a last word... *shrug* Mruuw.

I do admit, that I have the possibility of being wrong, but I'm going to ally myself with what Crash said most recently. It was pointless and excessive for everyone to quote the posts that made fun of Sacra excessively, regardless of how much someone may or may not deserve it, it's basically trolling.

However, I'm quite glad this topic has remained so cordial
Clearly you didn't see my post before Crash edited it ^^; Boy, was that thing a mass o' bile.

Cordial as in cordiality; everyone's being polite here.

A good cordial would be nice right now, come to mention it. Although I wouldn't say no to a group of us sitting down over a keg of Sprecher. Yes, the world's greatest root beer now comes in keg form, has for a few years now. :3

Because I couldn't say this in the last thread but I wanted to: the Llama spam was done ENTIRELY as a joke and, for myself at least, in good faith. I spoke to Jarn in the Sbox and said as much- I found the entire situation with the back and forth posting (with the exception of some of the comments made by Were and a few others, which gave me pause and led me to poke Jarn in the first place) to be completely hilarious, and told him to say something if he felt I was crossing a line. What I understood from the comments was that Jarn agreed with me, but I just want it to be clear to anyone else reading this or other posts that I had absolutely no intention of actually trolling the thread or the other posters.

I think the Silliness vs. Seriousness is really more a matter of spam than anything, but I agree that there has been a lot of hostility on the board for the last few months. Lets try and put these things aside, yes?

Thanks Poui.

I dunno, I guess I've been less active than I used to(though still relatively pretty active, I suppose) but I've felt like the hostility has actually gone down recently. Until these events, anyway, and also I've not really been on Temple four times int he past week, so I completely missed the Sacra thing.

Point, it has gone down, but I still remember whe- *mobbed by the Anti-Oldbie police, bound, gagged, and carried to the soap-and-water mouthwash station*.

But no, Ulta is right, it HAS gone down since that period a few months ago where everyone was (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ ing at each other <_< It's just DD stress these last few days, I think.

So, now what? What are we gonna do now, that we're aware of these problems? Is it gonna be an individual thing?

All I gotta say is report to a staff member if a thread's starting to scare ya. DX

Grim,

With all due politeness, I'm not sure that you're quite socially experienced enough to give a very valid analysis in this case--and I want to stress that I'm most definitely not trying to be rude to you when I say that. I really don't appreciate the personal attacks, by the way. If you feel that I'm being inappropriate, or if you have any actual criticisms of what I've said, please bring up your objections here. Failing that, perhaps you'll understand my perspective when you too move out of the house.

Best,
Fluff
Hey, Mr. Pot. I have a kettle here that tells me you said something about it not being able to reflect light.

Seriously. If you're going to complain about personal attacks, it might be a good idea to avoid implying that the person you're calling out is socially retarded. It kinda undermines your position.

The sad part is, I originally intended to say I agreed with your original post.

Grim had an offensive post regarding Fluff previously - the original post got edited into something less offensive. I thought this response from Fluff was mature and well intentioned. I admit I didn't see what Grim put up there originally, but it had something to do with Fluff personally...? I dunno. >_>

But Grim's apologized and recognized his error, so that issue's cool now. X)

It had to do with my personal feelings towards him. Which are, honestly, a bit too venomous to air publicly, according to Staff. I'll respect their wishes.

I'm well aware of what Grim did, but that doesn't excuse lines like "perhaps you'll understand my perspective when you too move out of the house." If that's not a personal attack, I'm not sure what you'd call it.

I can't speak for Fluff, and his intention for putting that in there - I don't understand what he meant by saying that, or how it's an attack. Seriously, I'm that dumb. DX I ignored that line when I interpreted the letter BECAUSE I don't get it. But I look at the rest, and it feels sincere to me.

Anyway, this topic isn't about Grim and Fluff's relationship, nor is it about analyzing them personally. Any other suggestions/comments/questions? XD

Referring to the original post, I expected you and several others to be of that mindset, Fluff. It was obvious from the experiences in previous threads and I totally understand where that's coming from. While what happened in the latter segments of the thread the other day surprised me a little (I believe after it was moved to PG), my talk of empathy here included you guys, too. My point in the end of the first post of this thread was for both sides to move beyond that, a la "open up."

A lot of the discussion here has been nice, but I recommend talking about the future of the Temple since it seems we've been going in circles about who's right or wrong. Yes, what happened the other day was poorly executed if the actual intent was to usher seriousness. No one truly expected Jarnakel's thread to be taken seriously - like at the level of this thread (refer to Jarn's post here). That, however, influenced this topic, which was aimed at being a response to everything on a whole. Mostly, I wanted to stimulate discussion of what's to come. I still consider this thread to be a "Statement of Intent" - a collective one, that is. One that is full of everyone's ideas/takes on this subject.

So, now what? What are we gonna do now, that we're aware of these problems? Is it gonna be an individual thing?
Exactly. =D This is what I was hoping to hear be discussed. It's a little surreal how some have expressed the urge to close the topic when so much has been left hanging. Try to not to let petty things distract you from the focus of the topic. The first page of this thread in particular is full of wonderful feedback.

As per the individual thing, I was thinking something like that. I'm not entirely against designated forum moderators trying to do something about this (whatever that may be), but I'm more the self-moderation type. My point on opening up/empathy and things addressed by Satty, Peo, Vorlan, Lemu, Bliss, and etc., I feel, is something WE can actually work on.

Also, sorry to pull the "old-days" card, newcomers, but my memory of 2005-early 2007 here is incredibly vivid. The most drama I remember was when people were temporarily TL;DRing my RP posts. Other than that, we were, how should I put this... really innocent. >_> We listened to and showed a great deal of respect for one another without being told to do so. I, of course, fell inactive in the latter half of 2007, so I can't be certain to exactly why... but don't you think there's a good reason why others (not just me) like to reflect on this era? Maybe some good stuff to note took place in 2008 or 2009, too? I don't know. I'm not saying to go back in time; I'm asking if we can learn from what happened here.
These days, it seems simple semantics or in-articulation in our posts can get us into trouble/tear a rift in the community. Try to be a little more empathic/give the benefit of the doubt. This is an internet forum where practically the only way to communicate is via typing, so some of us may not be able to execute what we really mean as well as others.
On the note of the earlier generations, it seems that - with few exceptions - those who show the most respect for me are oldies like Saturos, Adnarel, Werebarret, Draco, GoV... It's no surprise because those are the people who I have spent the most time talking/opening up with. This is probably the case with everyone else, and I would like to see it change.

Being an Aussie, I always end up late into a topic, and by the time I post in it it's derailed from the original post. So, I say screw the discussion going on right now (haven't read it myself...), and whether someone has already said all this, I'm going to say it again.

I honestly think that most people at the temple, me included to some extent, are sufferers of sheep syndrome. By that, I mean that I rarely see very many people arguing a point once it has been made, but when someone does speak up against the point, even if everyone is being completely civil, only then will people begin to agree with this new point. However, once this new point is brought up, the old point drowns away.

This isn't just in arguments, either. Even in a topic in the men forum I saw it happen to some extent, and we were all being very civil. I can safely say that I have yet to see any hate in this forum, which is something I'm happy about.

Another thing, I think everyone on here is also taking this either too literally or too jokingly. I honestly think that maybe if we were all at least half-serious in everything outside of PG, we wouldn't have this problem. No, we don't need to have a stick up our ass all the time, but that doesn't mean everything's a joke. I personally try to keep all my silliness in PG - THAT'S WHAT IT'S THERE FOR. I make a couple more jokes outside of there, but I also listen to what others say and take it seriously.

I also know that I've said some bad things about some people here, and I honestly regret all of it. The only thing that makes me feel worse - the only person I didn't say bad things about that I didn't say due to sheep syndrome, was Fate. Not only was Fate banned, but almost everyone hated him anyway. Hell, I bet the only people that didn't are the new and old Kradenettes that didn't meet him. I think sometimes we need to step back and think about what we're doing - we wouldn't say this stuff about people in real life, would we?

Which poses another point. Would anyone here act this way in real life? I know I'm not so outspoken in the real world, sure, but would we say these things about people at our school, university, college or workplace? Sure, if it was a big one, but if it was a close community like our forum is meant to be? Hell no. I think half the problem itself is that people seem to see this as the internet, and treat it as such.

Guys, it doesn't matter if you're in a ditch with a hobo, talking to the queen, or on your gaming forum - common courtesy is always a must.
