In both games. I'm not sure why, but I do know that the music is part of it, and also what happens before the actual fights. The screen-breaking effect also makes you feel like you're ready to take the thing down. It happens every time I get to the battles. What about anyone else here? |

I totally understand the feeling. The Doom Dragon music gets me pumping before I even hear it, usually. |

The start of Doom Dragon's theme is amazing and gets me pumped up, but I'm not actually that much a fan of it after the opening riff. >_> <_< |

This is like, a universal thing amongst video games, bro. But yes, the GS games did it really well. |

Well, "universal" by no means includes EVERYTHING, but yes. |

I get pumped in final battles for any game. You should hear the stuff I used to yell at the Doom Dragon in my first playthrough. |

Sound the horn and call the cry: "How many of them can we make die?"

I thought the word "universal" included everything by definition. Because, you know, universe = everything. :U But on topic, I actually don't like the Doom Dragon music much. The screen-breaking effect and the fact that it decreases your sprites' sizes to show scale does make it really awesome, though. |

The final battle with the Doom Dragon remains one of my favourite final battles in any game ever, and the music helped a lot because I really quite liked it. I knew it was the climax of the game, the plot was all there and all mostly unraveled, and then suddenly HUGE DRAGON WITH EPIC MUSIC. And then it was awesome. I had a grin on my face as I beat him down, even after suffering twin Cruel Ruins towards the end. Fusion Dragon was an equally awesome final boss, but since I didn't realise at this point that the game wasn't going to continue after the second Lighthouse, it didn't really have that whole "[radio edit] yeah this is the last hurdle, let's make it count" feeling that the Doom Dragon gave me. Knowing as I did for the second playthrough, though, that improved the feel of it somewhat funnily enough. |
