To me this just confirms that dear Mr. Carver is an asshole who is using his position as a figure of authority to exercise control over his daughter, and that he has a lot of baggage regarding the forest and Surma. Personally I hate parental figures that are absent for most of a kid's life and then waltz right the [radio edit] back in and act like they have a right to have that kind of personal authority. It's easy to forget sometimes that Annie can actually be very timid, and she's probably off balance because wow, wayward father is a teacher at the court. But I am really hoping she and Kat lay into this [radio edit]er at some point. Also, if Satty's theory about the climax of the comic is correct, I'm betting this just drives Annie further into the forest's side of things.
