Bahahaha, Oshawott is awesome. Tepig makes me think tepid so that makes sense too, but Snivy is just stupid. Even if it is a pun on ivy. I'll be damned if I be a weeabo and use the Japanese names though )< |

Agreed. Snivy is the best name revealed, in my opinion. |

Snivy is great because it's like Snake + Ivy but also Snide + Ivy And changing the region name is dumb as hell, this is the first time they've done that, right? |

This, even if Snivy's name seems to fit that Snide impression of his. After Smugleaf, it just doesn't really compare. |

But that's exactly why I like it! It's similar enough to Smugleaf while at the same time being a less blatant pun. |

So now I'm hearing a theory that each of the starters' names, along with the obvious inspirations we've already discussed, are also a pun on a city or region from each of the three major countries of North America. Oshawott - Oshawa, Canada Tepig - Tepic, Mexico Snivy - ?????, USA still waiting on a solution for the last one. |

I don't like the design either. But I do like that this region is based on the U.S. or North America or whatever. That should be interesting.

Oshawhat? Snivy is awesome but it would have been so awesome if nintendo had listened to the fanbase and named it smugleaf. Tepig is okay I guess, but it seems a little original, and as if they've just run out of synonyms for hot D: Crash's Unova theory actually seems a possibility :O love that face :O :O |

Tepig, Torchic, and Chimchar are all interchangable. Pick the one you like the best and ignore the other two. Wotter/Oshuwotta looks like the best choice for a starter, IMO. |

I rarely choose a water starter despite my obvious inclination towards the type, simply because water Pokemon are usually the most ridiculously numerous and there are plenty of alternatives. Are there any new fire Pokemon this time around beyond Tepig? Because that was the most annoying feature of Gen 4... besides the starters and a legendary or two there were no readily available new fire Pokemon, and the only old ones until much much much later in the game was Ponyta. |
