I wasn't particularly complaining about the tournament. Hell, i don't even care because i can't even join ([radio edit]ing lack of wi-fi). I was just pointing the fallacies about "tier lists forcing standards on players". Because they don't. |

I have a total of 3 pokemon that are EV trained, and they were all trained for me by a friend. None of the 3 are entering the casual with me because I just don't care about the metagame. There are much more hax teams that I could very easily use on my save file, but I've intentionally gone out of the way to leave out legendaries and EV trained ones, because it's casual, I'm hardly going to be that much of a douche in a casual tournament. That's a given, there shouldn't need to be rules and the like in place there. It just makes the players feel uncomfortable, and that's not what I want at least. Also, I'm going to be posting my team here and now. Why? Because I feel like it, and I don't really care who knows it. Luxray Umbreon Flygon Typhlosion Blaziken Dragonair/ite (Depending on whether I can be bothered evolving it) If anyone has complaints with my team, which I'm sure at least 1 person will, PM me with them. Also, tier forcing does place a lot of limits on people. Fair enough legendaries not being allowed, but if there starts being tier forcing I'm cancelling my entry. I don't know what's in what tier, and I don't want/care to. I know what works for me, and I'm staying with it. |

Don't evolve the poor thing. Dragon serpent > Orange Barney. Unless you like Barney for whatever reasons. |

Maybe we should all post our teams right now like Tan is doing since everyone will know everyone's before it starts anyway; if they happen to fit in whatever metagame parameters you people are talking about then there'll be no point in arguing about it anyway >___> In my case it's: Starmie Typhlosion Electivire Tauros Yanmega Hippowdon |

Gwydd and I didn't want to have teams shown before the actual tourneys so that no one could plan their teams specifically to take advantage of a large amount of teams being entered. But if you all don't care, go ahead. |

Ha, good point. Although I think most of us are too lazy to do that. Plus as has been said before, this forum isn't full of dicks, so it's cool. |

Mm. I'm probably going to keep my team hidden for now, specifically because of my rivalry with Gwydd. >_> Also, they're all still below level 10, and an egg still needs hatching. D: |

I'll train my mons how I please, thank you. And they're still low level because I HAVEN'T been training them. I should probably get on that. Also, we need a month to start this in. Will probably also make a new thread once that's decided, to post modified regulations and such. |

Edit: Real Post: @Grim:
That is by far the best way to start anything, I sincerely loved that. I'm going to address points now. First off, I do not think you use a shit-ton of legendaries. That was meant to be an example of some terrible person who could come in and ruin your fun. I am sorry if that felt like a personal attack. What you said about not wanting to look at the tiers, I don't understand, but I realize I won't convince you otherwise, so that's alright. I would like to direct people to my previous post where I said that to maximize fun. maybe competitive players should only be allowed in the Tournament of Mind and non-Competitive players should only be allowed in the Tournament of the Heart. This could very well be the best solution. Later you say we're [competitive gamers] are afraid the non competitive gamers are going to "Screw The Rules, I'm in love with nurse Joy!" The tournaments. That is not my fear, I am only afraid of what my fellow competitive gamers will do to both you and me with no rules in place. NOT TO IMPLY THAT WE HAVE HORRIBLE PEOPLE LIKE THAT HERE! But, I don't really know most of you do to my oldness and randomness, and I have trust issues. Anyway, the real point is, that regardless of everything, the teams posted are complying in terms of general balance from the tiers (which I know people don't care about) and pretty much, of their own volition, fitting into the proposed parameters. I say that these points are moot and if most people continue selecting pokemon as they have then all should be enjoyable. TL;DR: This whole debate ended up being mostly pointless as everyone is, unknowingly and unintentionally, arguing for the same rights that comply to one standard set. Go Team! |

Apology accepted, dude. Although I think restricting access to the tournaments might be the wrong idea. I understand your point about some competitive people being douches, but like you said — those aren't the kind of people who would even know about this tournament in the first place, so it shouldn't be a concern. |

Why do you guys think there's even two separate contests for each? There doesn't need to be a rule about it - if you feel like being competitive, JOIN THE COMPETITIVE ONE, if you feel like being casual and '[radio edit] metagame nonsense' THEN JOIN THE OTHER ONE. And if you feel like getting in on everything ever and don't mind making a competitive team but would also like to use the team you raised up while beating the game and is all pokemon you just think look cool THEN JOIN BOTH HURR DURR Seriously, it shouldn't even be an issue. I mean people have been saying 'they're not getting it! They're not getting it!' and I look at this thread and the nonsense level is ridiculous. but it's all resolved so my post is useless. I'm just ranting. Ta-ta~ |

This, as I said earlier in this thread. The people in this won't be using 6 Choice Specs Thunder/Water Spout Kyogres, because they aren't bothered to, in the case of casuals, or because they aren't an asshole, in the case of us competitive players. We aren't going to dominate the first tournament or two, because we don't want to, and we want to have fun like everyone else. Also, with the point of restricting access, we simply don't have enough people to do that. Anyway, here are my teams. Tourney 1: Garchomp Dialga Torterra Bronzong Alakazam Lucario Touney 2: Don't remember, actually, but I WILL use Aggron in all my teams. lol at needing to update. I've gone through several personal revisions in that time, and on second thought, maybe it's not a good idea since someone can easily counterteam. Oh well~ No problem with mine, is there? |
