The reason I think trolls of higher blood live correspondingly longer lives is because Spinneret drops a few hints about how the current empress is massively old, and will outlive all of them. And she (at least to me) seems to imply that that kinda cougar relationship is normal if a high blood deigns to court a low blood, (and this is my speculation) since their lives are so much shorter. Also, random thought, if it was aradiaancestor Darkleer defied the high bloods for, then her lowbloodedness would explain why she isn't still around, since Marquise talks about her in the past tense.
