Due to the emphasized lack of details about troll reproduction, I've just assumed that homosexual pairs are just as capable as heterosexual pairs at producing offspring. Tied to that, I find myself thinking that homosexual and heterosexual relationships occur in their society in equal measure. Due to the complicated nature of romance, and the fact that the trolls' romance is four times as screwy as ours, I think same-sex relationships would be just as "normal" as any other. I doubt they even have words to differentiate between the two.

Personally, I think that from here it's going to follow Karkat's conversations with John backward until we get to the point where we left off, and continue from the kids' perspectives. And Necare, that's basically what I was saying. Since, as implied by the comic, couples are not required to be heterosexual in order to reproduce, I figure that gender is probably just a vestigial thing for trolls. Either that or the trolls' universe was created by another Sburb session whose players wanted a world where gender still existed but didn't matter.
