So, my laptop has something seriously wrong with it. It started about a week ago, after Winodws auto-installed about 20-something updates upon shutting down. It took FOREVER. I had to let it run all night. The following morning, the updates were still running. However, they finished withing the next five minutes or so, before the laptop shut off. This is when the crap began. When I started the laptop back up, it acted normally until I typed in my password to log in. The driver began to make some very unsettling noises, and it basically stayed on the "Welcome" screen for an hour before simply freezing up. I held down the power button for about seven seconds to force it to shut down, and tried again. This time, I was prompted to that black screen asking if I would like to start up using Safe Mode. I figured "eh, why not?" and tried it. Safe Mode did allow me to log in, minus my beautifukl desktop background and internet and everything looked zoomed in. From here, I tried to diagnose what was wrng with my laptop. I tried uninstalling some updates, hen restated the computer. LO AND BEHOLD, I MANAGED TO LOG IN! ^O^ The next day, it wasn't wroking again. I tried the previous trick out again. This time it didn't work. So this time, I tried something slightly more despereate, System Restore. Basically, this sort of "takes the computer back in time" to a point before the updates. So I tried System Restore. It didn't work. Did it again, just to make sure. It worked. (This problem might have been a bit easier if the darned laptop would show a little CONSISTENCY.) This moring, my laptop was all but gone. My dad mangaged to do something to log it in. (He doesn't know what) He took the opportunity to install Norton Anti-Virus (REAL SMART, DAD.) And then shut it off. It tis doing the same crap still, but this time double the stubborness. We're gonna take it in to get diagnosed soon. Until then, I might be a little scarce around the Temple, since my access to the downstairs computer is somewhat limited. :OTL: |

Nuuuu! I hope this gets sorted soon. Something similar to that happened to me once but we couldn't fix it. The laptop was pretty old though. I'm terrible with this stuff so it's totally beyond me what happens to it all. Anyway, hope it's all right. :\ |

Lame. That just blows Lemu. On the other hand, this is also a reason why desktops are superior. |
