I got them a lot when I was a kid. They were incredibly detailed - I mean, when I was five I had a nightmare about people drowning. More on that later. Anyway, this topic is a discussion topic about nightmares and how they affect you. I'll start first by detailing several that I remember. They can get pretty crazy. Know this: Every fact I tell you is a truth as I remember it about my early dreams. I will also tell you I had only nightmares up until like two, maybe three years ago. Only. If I dreamed, I had a nightmare. I have difficulty, sometimes, telling reality from dreams. There have been some incidences where I remembered a nightmare as reality. And then relayed the tale to everybody in my class. I don't know how my family handled that. I really don't - I have no memories that I can be sure are accurate from before like five-six years ago. The first one is the earliest one I remember. I don't know what had set it off, but I was around 4-6 years old. The first part I remember dreaming of was this van my family used to own bumping along on a dirt road(or maybe it's a forest). And then all I remember is exposition about this apocalyptic water. I remember fires burning in the background and a bush and dead bodies. Broken houses. Then I remember being dragged into this place with a pool. I had floaties on. Like a typical cartoon villain in the vein of Giovanni from pokemon, the evil guy was a silhouette behind shadows with flunkies running around. They threw me into the pool. I have flashes of seeing corpses in the water. I suspect that detail may have been added in somewhere along the line. The water, see, it drags you down. You can't float in it, and it drowns you by force. Apparently I had magic floaties or something - I didn't drown. not that I remember anyway. When I was younger I refused to go in water without floaties until I woke up one day and decided to swim. The next one! Okay, a fairly far more simple nightmare. I was riding a bike around in circles. Fine. I fall over after losing balance. Ow. Except when I get up the skin on my arm is torn up from the wrist to my elbow. No, not torn as in a whole crap load of scratches. I'm talking PEELED - the entire skin layer and some muscle. It's all red and icky - although I'm somehow not bleeding because this is a dream. I go up to mommy who's been watching me from the door the entire time. Mommy dearest tells me to stop being a silly child and get back on my bike. I did not like riding a bike; I think I was scared of it, which may have prompted this nightmare. I believe I was seven, because one of my few FEW memories from childhood is me telling someone about this dream in second grade. I was a terrible child to my parents - so hard to manage. They are wonderful people, they really are. Also, I once had a dream about reality basically being a cartoon and my arm got run over and in typical 90's cartoon fashion it was just like this rubbery thing that wobbled around entertainingly. Not really a nightmare but my arm DID get run over. And in an interesting case of shared dreaming, Sally and I both had similar dreams at one point. In my version of the dream we are in a bar(still as kids) and the bartender asks Sally for her hand - I tell her 'NO! DON'T! HE'LL STAB YOUR HAND!' and she's all 'Nah, I'll be fine' and then the bartender stabs her hand. I don't think Sally cried - neither of us ever really cried because of pain(I was known to cry when I wanted something, though. Until mom pointed that out. Then I stopped. Weird how I work.) which has bemused many people. Sally's version, I think, we were in a park, but I'm not sure. I think it was a clown who asked for Sally's hand and in this case I also shout 'No don't!' and the clown cuts off her hand instead. I'm not sure - ask Sally for the specifics of her version. And then there's the weirdest of the weird nightmares. Okay, so this one time I had a dream. It opened up 'Welcome to ___'s Nightmares!' and then it was my mom trapped in a cave full of water. There is absolutely no land. And no exit. A big wide cave ceiling thing. And then this two headed fish dragon thing I don't know what the [radio edit] it is pops out of the water. It literally drops both its heads on mom at once and eats her in half. and then the next scene of my dream has mom walking at a college campus in a business suit with a briefcase and a cellphone at her ear. Mayyyyyybe she wore sunglasses; don't think so. And then it closed. My nightmare. And then I had a sequel which briefly rehashed my last nightmare. But I don't remember what happened that time. Okay, I gave the drowning one, the bike one, the Sally one, the sequel ones... There are more, but I can't remmber them at this moment. Oh well. So! Have you guys ever had any interesting nightmares? |

well sinds half a year I've started with lucid dreaming, so I don't really have any nightmares any more. I still remember a nightmare from my childhood, don't know how old I was or If I was even going to school at that point. I think I was around 5-6 years....dunno. I'm standing at the school filled with people, I remember finding it very big and imposing . At one point my brother grabs my hand and runs inside yelling that "the monsters are coming and we must be save" We're standing in a classroom with a bunch of other people (maybe 50 of em) while all of a sudden we hear these loud bangs on the walls and the windows. all of a sudden the windows break with a mighty clash and glass flies all over the room. I run outside with my brother. I don't think I ever saw the "monsters" all of a sudden we're outside. and all of a sudden I'm al alone with al this noice around me. I remember waking up crying |

The only ones I can remember are from my childhood where I used to have nightmares the moon would fall. (thank you, Majora's Mask )For some reason, I actually did believe the moon would fall. >> |

Playing Majora's Mask at a really young age can do that to you. =P I can't remember any nightmares I've had. I rarely remember any dreams at all. |

I had a dream just two days ago that ended with some kid eating me. (It must have been Ian!) I also had a dream some time ago where I saw the most evilest eyes I've ever seen, was pretty scary... >__> As for lucid dreaming, I don't see why I would ever want to be conscious/aware while I'm sleeping. Sounds kind of dumb to me. |

I have unsettling dreams all the time. More than cool dreams, I think. Usually involving monsters. >.> It's cool to have vivid dreams a lot, though. Last night I dreamt about zombies, sort of. Most of the zombies were stupid and were picked off easily, but there was one particularly intelligent one that was targetting the protagonist of the dream, a guy in his twenties. The guy was trying to get somewhere, and went through a prison camp. The smart zombie was crawling around near the ceiling, or on edges of fences and stuff, and occasionally the "camera" would sort of zoom in on his face and make a loud screech. Its eyes were yellow and glowing, and its face and body was dark, wrinkly, and lanky and it was freaky. I woke up after that and drifted in and out of other dreams, something about prairie dogs killing my neighbors which made me really sad, actually. XD And everytime I grabbed my pillow, I knew I was grabbing my pillow, but my dream kept telling me I was hugging a mossy tree. And the night before I dreamt about Simpsons characters dying and having weird-looking alien angel things help them accept their deaths, which was fricking wierd. Last night's dream was pretty tame as far as scariness goes. At times I've woken up feeling horrified at myself for dreaming violent disturbing things. >.< |

When I was sick in November, I had a series of fever dreams which I barely recall now. I remember I think I made a topic about it here. Occasionally I'm a lucid dreamer, but sometimes I'm not and in the end it doesn't really matter. Aaaanyway, fastforward a few years from that last nightmare. I'm like alone in this white-sterile lookin' place. I'm exploring the house and I know from how the dream began that the outside of the building looks lik emy house. And there's werewolves all over the place. I find this blonde-haired, blue-eyed kid who seemed frightened - he was curled up in a little ball. I remember the poin is that we had to escape the town and find some help. My next memory is the forest floor and nothing else. I don't know what happened. |

You kids and your dreams Every single dream I've had in the past 2 years went one or two ways: either I died in the end or I didn't get the girl because I woke up. Dreams where I die tend to be me against robots or aliens. Usually I'm the last man standing because THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE but then I lose anyway. One time it was because I tripped (“・ω・)つ ...Except when I dream about food. Glorious, glorious food. |

I've been having nightmares lately where I've been murdering four people, and its a nightmare that's been occurring every night, with the same four people - it's all about how I have to somehow hide my tracks and everything. Freaks me out when I wake up. |

I was telling Sun about this dream, and she suggested I shove it into this thread and see what kind of responses I get. I think she just wants somebody to assure her that I'm not a psychic and predicting the future. 'Cause that would suck. A lot. Anyways. In the usual vein of my 'nightmares,' this didn't actually scare me in the traditional sense. The overwhelming mood was one of futility and denial, and it was really, really sad. Basically, Sundancer was dying of cancer and I was making her do all sorts of crazy shit like canoeing (okay, not really crazy, but that's the most vivid 'crazy' thing that I can remember), cliff-jumping, volunteering at random places and other life-ish things. She was very weak in the dream and nearly died several times; just kinda stumbled every once in a while and got all pale, and every time I was like DDDDDD: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO D<, and I think the sheer force of my denial scared the cancer away for a few days so we could do more crazy things. It was implied that she was going to die eventually, though; I don't know how she cheated it for as long as she did. I thought the dream was over several times (I guess this means it was lucid? I'unno), but somehow she always managed to get back up and be okay for another little while. There was a lot of crying and nihilistic talk (mostly on her part; I firmly asserted that she WOULD NOT DIE, damnit) and general angst, and it made me very sad. It was vivid to the point where I actually felt guilty upon waking up for abandoning the dying Sundancer. The mere act of losing hold on the dream had me feeling like a failure of a friend. :c In summary, it was unusually vivid and very strange and I think Dancer really wants you to assure her that it isn't prophetic, thanks. Also wtf, brain, why would you do that. |

Wait. Wait. Waaaaaiiiittttt. This was not by chance sun cancer, was it? Anyway I don't think death dreams are meant to actually mean death 0.o Or really be prophetic at all, so yeah. |
