Shippuuden has been dragging ever since the end of the Immortals arc, in my opinion.

Not only that, there was also how reviving the recently dead of the leaf village would take his own life, consistent with how Chiyo revived Gaara at the expense of her own life at the end of the Sasori arc. So, I definitely felt the happiness of the moment with the townspeople cheering at the end, without thinking much about other things, honestly. Okay, so according to you, right after this arc, there's a rebuilding session for the leaf village, and Yamato's wood jutsu is a critical part of it. While I didn't know that's what would happen right after the Pain arc (you might want be wary of spoilering things around other people, you know), it makes perfect logical sense to me that that would be the next step in the story, especially given that Yamato has made wood buildings before. It does not compromise the dread feeling that seeing the leaf village annihilated and various characters dead had at the time, IMHO.

In the anime, it was glorious; I absolutely loved the scene where Spoiler: click to toggle Naruto returned with Kakashi to the village, only to find literally every villager praising him. That was way more awesome in the anime than it was in the manga, primarily because of the music. After years of resentment from everyone in the village, he finally gets the praise he always wished for. That being said, Erik, I highly recommend catching up on the manga. In my opinion, there are some more epic parts coming up, and it's simply good to keep up with since it's the most up-to-date.

Master of Trivia, Grand Patron of 5 Gens Posts: 4,166 Group: Venus Clan Member #229 Joined: July 20, 2007 Gender: Male Country: #0#	Now, about the manga/anime thing, this seems to be a good time for me to explain: First off, pretty much the way I'm doing things with Naruto is that I wait 2-3 months or however long, then check to see whether the latest arc in the anime has been completed and aired, before watching it all within two-or-so days. That arc-by-arc approach is a way of seeing the story that works extremely well. The thing about manga... I know they tell the core story of any franchise, but the fact it's all in motionless and soundless black-and-white makes it somewhat feel like I'm just reading the storyboards for what would be a much cooler anime experience. That's the way I was feeling when I read all of Pokemon Special up to the end of the Gold/Silver arc; mind you, that manga was definitely enjoyable, but I would still have far preferred to watch an anime adaption of that, because the motion, sound effects, voices, music, pacing techniques, and just the atmosphere in general that anime additionally offers leads to something that has far more of a sense of life to it. Watching anime's more life-like take on a manga's story leads to much better first impressions of its story than reading its manga, IMO, which is extremely valuable. Therefore, I don't read manga because it'd feel like I'm spoilering myself for the anime version in advance. That's my two cents...

Spoiler: click to toggle I wouldn't consider Pain's multiple-bodies technique to be on par with revival, since the bodies still needed those chakra receivers in order to function and weren't truly "alive." Maybe that's just my interpretation, though. And while it's been established that the dead can be revived, that was (as far a we knew) on a one-for-one basis. I felt that his undoing everything that all of the lives lost really cheapened everything that happened previously. The rebuilding session isn't really something that has a lot of time spent on it, unfortunately. It's mostly just Yamato using his wood techniques a few times and people going "Man, that's gonna help us out so much!" and him making a throwaway comment about how he's going to be so drained after this. One thing that's kinda neat about it, though, is that we get to see some characters from an early arc show up to help with the rebuilding effort. And regarding what Slash said: Spoiler: click to toggle I just thought that the villagers all desperately awaiting his revival just helped solidify his transition into a boring invincible hero, personally.

As for the second part, it is understandable how that can be concluded by someone paying casual attention to the series. Nevertheless, there are ways to explain how that ultimately fits: Spoiler: click to toggle It was one-for-one with Chiyo and Gaara because that was the, shall I say, "basic" reviving technique realized by Sunagakure/Sand Village puppeteers where the user either gives some of their life energy to a wounded recipient or all of their life energy to a dead body, and Chiyo, though strong as a ninja, was merely very talented without having any kekkei genkai. Nagato, on the other hand, had the extremely powerful and rare Rinnegan kekkei genkai, and among its effects, as explained by Konan, is that it lets the user have command over an actual death-god-like face entity named the Outer Path, which in turn has control over life and death itself. You see it taking the souls of people several times during the invasion. It's this face thing that returns all the dead peoples' souls into their bodies at the end, taking the spirits from the crossroads between life and afterlife that recently deceased people stay at for a time before truly passing on. So, if it makes you feel better, Nagato was certainly in a much better position to perform a mass-revival technique, and you can just think that Nagato didn't give his own life to revive everyone just like that, so much as he poured all his life energy into making the Outer Path face do all the actual work.

They're the same as the white Zetsu, meaning the black one is unique. It probably serves some big purpose. And that is Deidara; remember the Akatsuki zombies in the coffins that Kabuto showed Madara?
