I mean no offence, but I really cannot understand why someone would spend $200 to scar their body. D: But it's your money and your life, so I can't really say anything... ¯\(º_o)/¯ |

Haters gunna Hate >.> However, for those wondering, I'll at least explain my reasoning. I waited at LEAST a year before getting it, to make sure I really wanted it. During this year it also developed further. In it there are a number of things that keep it interesting and meaningful to me, which I'll explain below. However, to those who decide they don't approve, please abstain from posting, because your implicit (if unstated) judgment is unwanted and offensive in regards to this being something meaningful to me. I'm not some fool who is going to pay $200 for some silly tribal or joke everyone has that's intrinsically worthless to me. Beginning a sentence with "no offense, but" is just a socially acceptable way to announce your opinion that you KNOW is going to be offensive, as if this short tag somehow makes it okay. Ladies and gentlemen, here it is! (slightly smudgy, this is a camera phone picture, so it isn't great quality, and this is before I gently washed it, so there's still dried blood and excess ink all over me) ![]() In the top left and top right, I have the Gemini symbol, being a Gemini. On the far right I also have the Alpha Omega, being raised rather religiously, it's still something I care for, and despite the irony of altering my body conflicting with the standard view of it being made in God's image, in my mind it's still a sort of tribute. Last but not least, there are two Kanji, Bun and Bu, which are the twin paths of the samurai, meaning The Way of The Sword and Literary Learning respectively, and being that I fence and am an English major, it seemed fitting enough, at least to me. To those observant, I DID lift this image off the internet, but with a number of small design changes, the removal of meaningless abstract runes and their replacement with thins meaningful to me personally. As a whole, using another image as a base is not something I regret and it allowed my good friend who drew it room to relax and enjoy the changes she made more. And of course, the design as a whole is an intricate magic circle, something I nerdgasm over anyway. |

After I'm in my 50's, nothing about me will be badass. At least I'll be able to explain to whoever I'm with what it means with no embarassment. Besides, the back isn't really a place that sags or gets intensely wrinkled or anything. |

I'd say Bliss makes a point but I am not informed enough regarding tattoos to know whether he actually does or not. His point seems grounded in logic enough to me, though. |

Owned. Don't mess with the Bliss. That's actually a very nice-looking tattoo, Bliss. You obviously put a lot of thought into it, and the workmanship in both the design and the actual execution looks top-notch from my smudgy perspective. You should call it your "English major tattoo." |

Back tattoos are pretty good stuff. Safe in terms of not losing job opportunities or having to hide it, but still in a place they can be displayed easily (at least for guys). I think if I ever got a tattoo it would be on the upper-right part of my back, just behind the shoulder. |

I'm Jake Delfeir, and this is my favourite tattoo on the internet. Well, perhaps not my absolute favourite since I've seen some pretty kickass ones, but hot damn did that come up nicely. You can wear that one with pride, that's for sure. |

I'm glad most of you guys really like it. I thought about it a lot in the last year, and my back was the best place for it for several reasons. One, as the design grew, it's one of the very few places it would fit, and I thought very very specifically that if I ever get one, I wanted it where it could never interfere with the prospect of getting a job and be entirely socially acceptable or hidden in a professional setting. Not to mention that, since I can't really see it myself, I know I won't really get tired of it or anything. |

I was just kidding about wanting to see a "BLISSY" tattoo. xP Knowing you, I assumed it would turn out to look something a lot more detailed like in the posted picture. I love the symbolism. Though you can't see it yourself without a mirror or through the perception of someone else, its meaningful. Really worth a two or more weeks in recovery if this will last a lifetime. 'course, I remember you saying something about waiting one year. |
