Alien Swarm is a third person shooter where you are a space marine and you shoot up aliens on a alien world with three of your pals in an effort to rid the world of this menace. That's it. It's fun. It's also free and on Steam, and it's a full blown game, somewhat anyway. I suggest some Templers download this and play so we can get a ToK group shootout sometime. Pew pew pew alien lazers bahahahaha |

I'd love to, but I hear the game is heavier than L4D2, and my PC can't even handle Starcraft 2 on the lowest settings, much less this game. =( The good thing is that it's free, so I don't have to worry about when to get it. |

Whoa, creepy thing is, a friend was just talking about this game with me when I clicked the thread. Game looks cool, I'm definitely gonna try it out when I get a new and better computer. |

I have the game and stuff. However, it lags a bit. I'll probably mess with settings more later. |

I specifically just came here to make this topic. And really? Heavier than L4D2? I find that hard to believe tbh. I'll check it out right now. My Steam ID once again is WilyNumber13, though in-game my name is Imposter Oak's Revenge. |

I tried it, and I'd have to say it is totally worth 10-15 dollars. It has one small con, though. If you die, you die for the rest of the mission. No revival. Other than that, it is pretty much a standard multiplayer game, except it's for free. I recommend you pick it up, after all, it's free! Also, it's pretty looking. |

See, that's actually something that would make me like it even more. You can't just play recklessly and get yourself killed over and over, you have to actually work together with your team and be strategic. |

Also if you reload while your mag still has like 50 bullets left you actually lose those 50 clips, I learned that the hard way. >_> Also infestations are annoying they need to be tuned down. I played on Hard one time and died from full hp while the medic was like 10 paces away. |

Yeah, whoever told you that it was as graphically heavy as L4D2 is totally off their rocker. At maximum settings, it might be somewhat close, but you can turn them down quite a bit from that (which I have to). Playing offline sucks a lot btw, your AI allies are absolutely awful. Make sure you guys learn how to active reload, it's essential during intense parts. |

I get some funky error message when I try to play it on my computer: "Failed to find launcher dll: (null)" I can play it just fine on my brothers computer though. And it's a fun game, just lacking maps at the moment. |

Infestation is really no problem most of the time. Get the tesla gun or some other auto-aiming gun, and you will often kill them before they can get to you. And if you use "Faith" as your medic, you will be cured of the infestation quite fast. |

There's also an armor once you level up enough that helps fight it off too. I don't have it yet but I think it's called Charged Armor or something like that. In the last campaign I played, three out of four of us died to infestation in the final level. Then the last guy died literally three steps away from the platform that ends the mission. Sad day. Also since nobody mentioned it yet "lol there's a guy named Crash in this game" |

For more advanced commands, you should just check the controls in options. Otherwise all the keys you need are these: E - Use R - Reload F - Alternate Fire G - Drop weapons Q - Changes between your first and second weapon 1 - Uses your off-hand item, if you have one, like grenades, traps or whatever 3 - Calls for medic, especially useful if you get infested and the medic doesnt see you WASD - Movement Space - Does a roll Mouse1 - Fire Mouse2 - Melee Well, you probably need a few more. |

Scroll wheel also changes weapons, and there's an active reload mechanism. When you reload, you see that white space in the reload bar? If you press the reload button again when the moving marker overlaps it, you instantly finish reloading, saving you quite a bit of time. However if you mistime the active reload, your reload will take even longer than normal. I think that's pretty much all you need to know in terms of controls. Play offline practice to get used to everything if you need to, but be warned that the AI allies are terrible. |

How the people in the game I just joined got to the last level without knowing how the hell you're supposed to deal with shield bugs, I'll never know. And as long as you're playing with people who don't just rush in everywhere, parasites aren't too bad. Just lead off with a flamer and you're usually safe. |
