Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Are you willing to make the rapturous plunge? Do you have what it takes?

I'm not sure if Draco would be so into that type of romance in Penguindru-

*stops and thinks*

Wait, what am I saying? It's right up her alley.

Anyway, Penguindrum is excellent IMO, but how much you like it depends on how willing you are to understand the heavy symbolisms and philosophical messages. Not that they are portrayed badly; on the contrary, they're excellent, but then again, I take English Lit and Philosophy and Ethics, so of course I'm gonna like it. It's just, whereas say Madoka, with that anime, if you look at it's symbolism and background knowledge, you think "Huh, that's pretty cool" and so it makes you like it a little bit more. But Penguindrum demands that you understand the symbolism and messages, and that is where you may either like it or dislike it. On the one hand, they are for the most part not too difficult to grasp (forbidden fruit, fairytale messages, etc) but on the other, it's so dense that it can feel overwhelming at times for some. You really have to be patient to get the most out of it. But I also think it's one of those animes that, when you re-watch it, everything is going to be different the second time around due to your new knowledge of the events. Sort of like Fight Club.

That said, there is definitely more going on than just symbolism. One of the reasons I love it so much is that I feel each character is balanced really nicely. Sure, it's not the biggest cast of characters, but everyone gets a chance to shine and show us their story and how they develop. And the penguins are awesome and hilarious. <3 Also, it does (at least to me, anything surprises me) have some rather surprising plot twists, but then again, due to how steeped in symbolism it can get, you'll often be led to think one thing and then it turns out to be another, so YMMV. The music and animation are stellar themselves. (although some minor parts can be off-model)

So, by all means watch it, it's interesting, but be warned; you are going to have to think and reflect. A lot.

Penguindrum has one male bunny boy attempt to kiss another male bunny boy. I think that's all the yaoi in it.

They look like it to me. Whatever the gender, I always ಠ_ಠ when they appear because they creep the hell out of me.

EDIT: My holy stars, Episode 21. That was horribly depressing.

Ah episode 21; that's why I avatar'd that. The fact it had my favourite track in its ED also helped.

The story climax is finally kicking in, enjoy the finale, Peo.

Despite some trepidation before starting it, I quite enjoyed Occult Academy. Flawed, the plot wouldn't stand up to a light breeze, but I liked what they did with the characters. I think perhaps I liked what they were trying for more than what actually came through. Really, if pressed, I could come up with a laundry list of what could be fixed to make for a more poignant, streamlined series. But there was good potential.

Now I'm not sure what to watch next. I don't know what I'm in the mood for.

yeah it's mainly the characters that i watched it for. the plot is...odd. it's ridiculous and it knows it - it certainly wasn't gunning for realism. i feel like the last two or three episodes were fairly rushed but at the same time condensing it down into such a short time was like having multiple orgasms. i think the series as a whole could have been done a little better, but i loved it all the same.

and oh god isnt kozue just the cutest omgomgomgogmgggg
