Well, it's a little trippy if you look at it just in term of plot. Pingudorum draws alot on its themes. One of which was touched upon in ep 19 relates to Sanetoshi and Kanba's conversation in ep 15:

“Don’t you think families are a sort of fantasy, like a curse of sort? Think about it. Just how many children suffer because of their family? Parents who treats their children as objects in the name of love, abusing them. They only love themselves, yet kids must love their parents solely because they are family, and love their siblings.”

One aspect the show explores is the various conceptions of family. It's hinted early on that the Takakura family only had one son, I'm assuming it's Kanba as of now. Then there is the fate diary among other reality bending things. We've sort of saw what the diary is capable of in Yuri's flash back in that same episode, but to be able to pluck a person out of existence like that, it's hinted that there are additional consequence of fate transfer. Such as say, the ability to transfer into another family, the Takakura for example. To be honest, it was odd how the three..."siblings" differed so much, and how the family kept two of their children in the dark like that. Himari and Shouma feels rather burdensome in term of the family structure.

A few other theme. "The incident 16 years ago" for example. The year is 2011, 16 years ago is 1995. 1995 is the year where the Sarin Gas Incident happened in the Tokyo Subwayline, so the incident in Pingudorum is an direct analogy to that. Only in this scenario, the reality was bent and the fate was transfered to one which such an incident never happened.

Well this is going to be as fragmented as it'll ever be, there is ALOT to say about pingudorum, try asking more specific questions.

Now the Japanese phrase for washer is "doramu". Pink is..."pinku", you put those together you get...."Pinkudoramu". The usage of "doramu" as a washer is also prominent in the movie "Baburu e go!! Taimu mashin wa doramu-shiki", which conveniently is about a washer...that was turned into a time machine. Well anyway, it does not help the fact "Mawaru" means spinning, and the kanji choice gives it a more....mechanical kind of sense to it as oppose to simply the act of spinning.

The title itself, pingudoramu could be a hybrid of pinku, penguin, and doramu. The Japanese phrase for penguin is pengin, yet the title is not "Pengindoramu" but is "Pingudoramu". So a bit of dissonance between the Japanese and English title right of the bat.

Alternatively Mawaru Pingudoramu, Ma Waru Pingu Doraum. Waru-Pingu......Warping?!?! Japanese pronunciation for warping. A warping washer ^_^
