Even though Boyd and maybe Miral are probably the only people interested, a new trailer for the Trails anime was released. I'm actually warming up to the art style, even though it's still really weird. I might end up watching it just so I won't have to wait over a year to continue the story. >_> |

Hanasaku Iroha and Nichijou ended like a couple days ago, but I recommend both for the following reasons: Hanasaku Iroha is a slice-of-life drama with added comedy about a girl who ends up moving away from Tokyo and working at her grandmother's inn. Characters in the anime do develop albeit not as significantly as you might think, which is not a bad thing considering the way it presents itself. A lot of the dialogue is designed to imply a lot of themes that the anime expects you to catch on your own, which made analyzing each scene quite fun if you're into that. As such, not a lot of episodes have themes that are forcefully thrown upon you, and instead takes a more subtle approach to make you understand each character's motives and aspirations. That doesn't mean that the story is perfect, however. Some episodes end up feeling like filler rather than holding much importance, and that means quite a bit since it's the workplace and romance drama that keeps the anime interesting rather than the slice-of-life aspects of examining each character. Overall, this anime ends up being very enjoyable and relaxing to watch as it entertains through its subtlety rather than its dynamics. Nichijou is just insane. If you need a breakdown at what this comedy anime does best, it's probably the slapstick, moe, troll humor, and making fun of tsunderes, which makes it more lively than Lucky Star and more random than Azumanga Daioh. There are sketches that seem to overstay their welcome at times, but those don't happen a whole lot since each episode has its gold moment, especially when Kyoto Animation squeezes their animation budget dry to make mundane scenarios as over-the-top as possible. Did I mention that the animation for the both of them is exceedingly pretty and well done? Because it is. |

So I got a chance to watch a certain movie that I meant to watch when it was first released in North America, but never got around to it. It was The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Oh my god. Oh my god. OH MY GOD.  WHY THE HELL DID I NOT WATCH THIS SOONER?

For some reason the art style looks better this time. Guess it's just my eyes, though. At least the music'll probably be good, including the inevitable remix of Silver Will. |
