definitely pretty ??? about some of these character arcs for Fiore and Ruler, though the latter is kind of a long way coming.
Fiore's reluctance to do harm but competence/charisma as a leader is what made her interesting as a mage, but suddenly bringing up 'oh she's not suitable as a mage' and some backstory about her crying over a puppy just like, super-feminizes her, so ofc she hands over everything to Clause
There was a cool angle possible to it if she was doing it to protect him AND the family name, since as Archer's Master she was more suitable to go into battle (even if it meant dying), which would've also been consistent with a 'protecting the dog' backstory, but ofc Clause insists on going anyway so that point is moot

And Ruler, aka Jeanne d'Arc, turning into a blushing moeblob that doesn't know how to approach feelings or liking someone, is waaay too reminiscent of Saber in the Fate route in Fate/Stay Night. aka taking important historical/cultural figure, in this case an important saint to a huge modern religion, and making them a moe waifu
but I guess that's kind of how Fate rolls
They could have even done this kind of thing, since Leticia-Ruler as a dual-consciousness could even provide an avenue for her to still blush and have the romance subplot (though Astolfo-Sieg is the real ship) by having Leticia's feelings surface, so Ruler herself can stay firm in her convictions and beliefs (considering earlier in the show she already clearly articulated why she didn't want him to die or to get hurt, so that she's suddenly having existential crises about it in the bathtub is ??????).


At least Team Saber is still great
