Just watched the prologue to Tales of Zestiria the X.

No one told me I was watching "Dark Souls: the anime"
complete with dat "sakuraba with budget" credits roll

I've also been watching Granblue (which is so-so at best) and Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul (which is great)

I also watched Toradora! with Mia, which started out pretty fantastic, and got bogged down by melodrama towards the end. pretty lulz tho

The three latest episodes of Dragon Ball Super has been such a joy. I love Frieza.

I know it's Toei and Toei's gonna Toei...but hopefully they keep some of this juicy animation for the big tournament.

what is this loli universe

Power Rangers universe seems pretty based though. Especially since Jiren is being built as the main threat against Goku.

Magical girls and sentai are two sides of the same coin and those universes are mirror universes of each other

kizu III is suffering.

Spring 2017 stoof

Little Witch Academia - Kid's show, pretty much. Doesn't really go beyond what you see from the films, but that's not a bad thing.
Alice and Zouroku - Sana for Most Endearing Brat of the Year. Not the best structured for a 12 episode run, but I personally enjoyed watching it.
Saekano S2 - Honestly if you came out of the first season with a bad taste in your mouth, I doubt the second season will do much for you. However, things do get a lot more serious and this is the same author that wrote White Album 2. I was invested, personally, because Kato is this year's Best Girl in the running so far.
Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul - The pacing of each episode borders on unnecessary at times, but it's cool that there's 2-cour of this season. Nina and Rita are Very Good.

And then I want to catch up on Tsuki ga Kirei, Sakura Quest, and Uchouten Kazoku S2.

Oh also, I managed to watch "In this Corner of the World" at the LA Film Festival. I immensely enjoyed watching it! I can see why it got the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year

Yeah, Virgin Soul is 24 episodes. I'd be so angry if the prison break was The End of Rage of Bahamut Forever

Did they ever explain why the universes that didn't have to participate, didn't have to participate? They're obviously saving some for future plot (remember that mortal that was stronger than a God of Destruction who in turn was stronger than Beerus?) but maybe they are important for the stability of the entire multiverse? I can't see any other reason why the Zens wouldn't want to include them as well for their own childish entertainment.

I hope they eventually go the DC comics way and have some external threat outside of all time and space that needs all the universes to work together to defeat it. That could work as a final saga at least. Would be sad if we don't see anymore of all these characters in all these universes.

Or am I just talking out of my ass. I'm sure that there was some discussion where two or more universes didn't have to fight for some reason?

EDIT: No worries, found the info: "Universe 8 is one of the four universes that have an average mortal level above 7 and thus its inhabitants, divine and mortal alike, have been exempt from being erased, the others being Universes 1, 5 and 12."

So it was the universes who tried out the arena by having the Gods of Destructions fighting.

So no other reason than "they're kinda stronk"

Thanks Poui.

It's kind of implied it's less that they're stronger, and more that their civilizations are more developed / their universes are cultivated with life and interesting happenings. Do recall that Frieza and Buu kind of killed most life in universe 7 and that Shin (Supreme Kai) is kind of awful at his job.

It's never stated to be powerlevels or anything of that sort, though it may well be.

Right, the total "mortal level" of Universe 7 was the second weakest I think? And had very few planets with life according to Shin.

Supreme Kai is awful at his job because his mentors were killed before he was taught how to do it because SOMEBODY was too busy sleeping instead of disintegrating Majin Buu

Owarimonogatari 2 is airing soon and I really hope it gets a good sub group, because the subs for Koyomimonogatari were terrible.

So this promo image of DBS was posted on twitter

Spoiler: click to toggle

The text apparently says "Here, the technique of the gods is finished" and people are talking about a new form/technique that Goku has been keeping secret. Maybe some perfected God form. Might fit into that weird red/evil Goku seen in the opening.

Also I've seen it being pointed out, the last time Goku was in a fight so hard he went shirtless was against Freiza.

This tournament will either be the worst shit ever or the best shit ever. I'm pretty damned hyped though.

Thanks Poui.

Worth mentioning that poster's also an advertisement for a free giveaway. Six? lucky japanese people will be getting that for following the twitter for DBS. It's not announcing anything official, and it may mean nothing; it's just promotional art, really.

But it's a badass picture and hypes ME up for this tourney, yes.

Suppose it might finally be time to give up the goose and splurge out on vrv.

EDIT: Looking at it again, something strikes me as mondo weird about Goku's arms in that poster. Anyone else seein' this? Anatomy feels off.
