Really liked this series. Cinematography was pretty consistently great throughout: I thought the 'view' did a really good job about implying things about Kumiko's perspective and thoughts. I think Kumiko is really fantastic as a protagonist: a great mix of curiousity, detachment (as Reina and Asuka pointed out this season), vulnerability, and determination.
A lot of what I said last time still stands, and I think - not having seen much slice of life - a lot things resonated with me this time in a way that they hadn't before, since I've experienced so much of what's happening - the last party for third-years in club, the graduation ceremony, valedictorian's speech, send-offs with the third-years, etc. It definitely made me feel like "this is real" - and, of course, how [rainbow]hormones[/rainbow] and family issues are mixed all up in that make it pretty compelling for me.

I like that they left it ambiguous about whether Kumiko was projecting her feelings/issues with her sister on to Asuka (that shot cutting to her sister walking away hints at it), or if Kumiko actually loves Asuka for who she is/romantically. The evolution of Kumiko's feelings from not-liking Asuka/not understanding her, to slowly discovering the reasons and motivations behind why she acts how she does, culminating in a 'love confession,' really does mirror her sister.
At the same time, Kumiko's unease, the shots of her looking after Asuka's footprints, thinking about the warmth of that song, Asuka's reaction, that kind of stuff points to it being a deeper, more unsettling romantic thing. And certainly, some of her abruptness with Shuichi.
But anyway, yeah, it being ambiguous works pretty well, because you could read that thread as contributing both to a familial/club senior coming-of-age thing, or a queer one. That kind of multiplicity tends to be most productive for creative stuff, though sometimes it's nice to have a firm commitment to one or the other.

I like how Kumiko-Reina was the red herring ship but Kumiko-Asuka was the real one
Taki with the extremely classy deflection with Reina. I like that that finally came out with Reina as well, and hopefully her character would move past that. I think her solo performance in the send-off was kind of her doing so, an affirmation to just straight-up excel

But yeah, defs enjoyed, hope KyoAni does more stuff like this instead of Haruhi (esp knowing where that's going www)
