Holy shit this is amazing.
Shinsekai Yori seems really promising so far. All around good, the music and art style is awesome. Expected a much more sci fi setting since it's set in the future, but turns out it's pretty devoid of even modern technology. Their society is definitely interesting and there's a great aura of tension and mystery, even during some of the more SoL-ish moments. It actually feels like what Higurashi would be if it didn't have the whiplash from the psycho stabby horror and the silly SoL shenanigans, with some funky magic going on ofc.
Oh yeah, Kids On The Slope was great, Spoiler: click to toggle For a good chunk of the show I cared more about them just playing jazz over the focus on romance, but even that grew on me. I feel like the show could've easily been longer, but it's also effective as it is since it has a pretty small cast and the characters are still pretty fleshed out... well the male ones atleast, the female characters didn't really contribute much beyond being love interests to create tension between the other characters since we don't really see much of their lives outside of that. Junichi was the kind of character that doesn't need a lot of focus, since the mystery is what makes him appealing. Would've loved to see more performances with him on trumpet and Ritsuko's dad playing da bass.
Really liked the ending, I connected a lot with the idea of pretty much going seperate ways after high school since it's something I and most people go through in some way or another. They still gave us a bit of a happy ending in showing them meeting up again 8 years later. Really makes you feel grateful not to have grown up in the 60s, since it's still easy to keep in touch with people thanks to the blessed internet, we don't have to rely on miracles like "oh, that's Sen in that wedding picture, now I can find him... somewhere."
also, started watching Cinderella Girls, I'm kinda eh on a lot of the characters so far but Uzuki is literally perfect.

Expected a much more sci fi setting since it's set in the future, but turns out it's pretty devoid of even modern technology. Shinsekai kind of does its future setting like Gargantia where tons of knowledge ended up being lost in a global catastrophe, so civilization ended up regressing into more primitive structures due to lack of knowledge.
Though given how the village seems to be run, advanced technology seems to be a risk that's not worth taking anyways.

Kids on the Slope The music was always a framework for the tensions of high school and romance for me anyway so while the music was amazing it never felt like there was too much or too little. I disagree that the female characters didn't really contribute much... well I guess that's accurate about most of them but Ritsuko goes through and quite a bit throughout the story.
I struggled with the ending for quite a bit, and almost read the manga to see if it ended in a "better" (i.e. happier) way, but after a while I came to realize that the ending of the anime is actually a really good way of wrapping the show up. If it wasn't working in High School (and it clearly wasn't) then it's better to leave the 8 years later ambiguous and just leave it on the happy note of reuniting.

You're right I totally meant that you would say that character you know 0% about is perfect. I didn't say that because it's so similar to those things you say about a certain other character.

Uzuki is literally perfect.
What are you, Boyd?
Slope on the Kids The music definitely works as a framework for their tensions, and the great thing was hearing that come across in their playing, they have that "not so perfect" relationship as friends that tends to translate well into having great musical chemistry. Ritsuko does have a bit to her towards the end. Some of the scenes with Yurika, like her digging into the trash bin to find Ritsuko's yarn really surprised me too but they still felt a little underdeveloped to me.
Yeah, that's the way I saw it in the ending too. A lot of stuff tends to have whatever highschool romance end up being the perfect romance, whereas irl this is very rarely the case. It's cool to see a series have the balls to not have a happy ending with the girl the main character has a crush on in high school. The happy note of just reuniting works well since it's likely that everyone has moved on from those romantic feelings from before, people can change a lot over 8 years after all.
I'm not angry enough about idols to be Boyd, even though the woman he thinks is perfect is from a semi-idol show.

I had a feeling some kinda event happened where people regressed in technological advancements from the flashbacks it's shown to present time and 500 years before the start of the series. The society they're in looks like it could easily tip if people had more advanced technology or even just knowledge of what's going on so yeah, probably wouldn't be good.

Did I miss something The answer to this, at least for all of season 1 of Symphogear, is: No, you didn't.
Except for Fine/Ryoko. But even that I guessed first because they both had the only massive tits of the show, so they clearly had to be the same person.

Oh right I was going to mention this earlier but got distracted by the torrent of shitposting. I started reading Mob Psycho 100, the other comic by ONE, the author of Onepunch Man, and I'm now convinced ONE is a genius.
EDIT: And good thing of all you lazy folks, it's getting an anime adaptation this year too.
