Marathoned the last 7 episodes. It's around episode 6 for me when the series gets good (aka a lot less fanservice and more of what I like seeing from Uchikoshi aka @_@ brain why @_@)

The time loop was wonderful. Time loops are fun, combining that with the switching bodies thing was wonderful and confusing. I went back and rewatched the body switch part to get to see who was who.

The insert song in episode 12 is incredibly pretty also...I was gonna say something else but then I got distracted by pretty music. The song lyrics, if I'm even translating them close to right really fits too. And in general, that part was just ow my heart.

According to my friend, it is also apparently getting a game or a manga or something that might have a different ending?

Same friend also has the fun theory that Chiranosuke is Yuuta reincarnated.

hrng this show is like one more moment away from clicking for me, I'm loving it so far.

I expected the big twist from the bad guy (oh no our ultimate power doesn't work!) but I didn't expect them to chop out one of the girlfriends so coldly. Ouch, my heart.

I'm hoping there ends up being a little more of an explanation as to why exactly snow white is pure as snow, especially given that they made a very big deal over the fact that his criminal coefficient actually started pretty high but plummeted as he got more Obviously Evil.

Also, is it just me or is this system actually kind of terrible at catching criminals? Thus far we've had like, four people who were out and about regularly in full view of masses of people, one of whom was on national (national? world?) television and their hilariously superdangerous kill-on-sight-level coefficients were never scanned at all even in passing? Who wrote the coding for this system, Bethesda?

It kind of helps that these people are in environments where a street scanner would be kind of hard to reach. The hacker was a shut-in, the girl was in a traditional girls' school isolated from society, and the cyborg looks affluent enough to circumvent any hue check through money and influence alone. And as the show loudly proclaims from time to time, the Sybil System is definitely not omniscient, nor is it omnipresent.

As for Makishima's hue, I don't think they go into specific detail into how it works, and it's honestly not necessary. Simply put, his existence is the antithesis of the Sybil System since he is a person who inexplicably cannot be judged accurately. The coefficient going down slowly was probably just to add dramatic tension and has no plausible in-universe explanation.

Technically an episode early since I was doing this in packets of six but oh well.

More importantly though they've kind of taken a firm dive into the viewpoint irony rabbit hole, because everything looks about thirty seconds from falling apart around our intrepid heroes without them even being able to know why.

From what I've heard, Psycho Pass 2 isn't anywhere near as good and honestly I think I can see why; they've already dropped the truthiest of truth bombs what more can they do aside from literally tearing down the system?

Yeah, idk, I think it's a good enough standalone that it doesn't need a sequel. There is a movie that's also written by Gen Urobuchi, and I dooon't thiiiiiink the second season is even required viewing? I'm going to watch the movie and I'll let you know.
Though I am at ep 8 in season two, maybe I should just suck it up and watch the rest as it shits over everything I love about the series. >__________>

Also re:Makushima, Sibyl is built around those neurologically divurgent brains that are basically psychopaths (hence the title pun), or don't show physiological response in the same way normal brains do. It isn't an omnipresent system by far, and Makushima just kind of presents an alternative that isn't defined by science so far.
He does have some response, of course, but you could even put down that "co-efficient slowly ticking down" as a result of his increasing reassurance that Akane isn't going to pull the trigger, and not as a result of his imminent criminal activity (which he doesn't feel anything towards).
