Since Gunbuster took a little too long to download I just watched FLCL.

Decently cool even if I understand approximately none of it. Gunbuster will get binged when I awaken again, so be prepared for that.

Prisma Illya ep 4 was good! Nothing deep, but silly SoL that was thankfully free of lolicon.

But after four eps of filler, I wonder if the plot will start next ep? 8D

It's decently easy to piece things together once you realize Naota's age, Haruko is clearly supposed to be fairly attractive, and that thing that sprouts out of Naota's forehead is vaguely phallic.

>Filler

I don't think you know what that means

Filler in anime adaptations is stuff that wasn't in the manga. THIS episode was filler (I think, DID they go to an amusement park in the manga?) but the previous episodes were not, since they were in the manga.

SoL instead of action fights =/= filler

Yeah, this ep was also anime original. And ep 3 was an extra chapter added much later in Drei, then brought back here - so bonus chapters inserted out of "sequence" instead of in an OVA, that don't really connect to anything else from the plot... I think that's filler here.

For that matter, I think manga can have filler as well, but you're right that with an SoL show that's different -- there is no plot, because "daily life" IS the plot. Prisma's a bit of a hybrid show in that it's both SoL and magical girl action (a common combination), so depending on which definition you use or how you want to look at it, 'tis filler or not.

And ep 1 was just pedoshit, so it might as well not exist

Akagami ep 6 and 7 were pretty great. It's a bit heavy-handed with some of its ideas, namely Shirayuki's internal narrative and flashbacks, but the characters are at least likable enough. And it's pretty sweet overall with how the two romance leads support each other.

ep 7

Started watching Bakemonogatari at Satty's suggestion. Episode 1 down, but I'll be rewatching it once or twice to catch the smaller details.

I'm kind of suspicious of this show because it seems everything about it is blatant Asphodel bait. Not that I'm complaining because I'm infatuated. Even the Ineffectual Male Anime Protagonist is great. When has that ever happened?

Shaft is the same studio/company that did Madoka Magica, right? It would explain the cinematography being absolutely on point.

Monogatari still remains the strangest series I've ever watched. Mostly because the way it's presented is quite...interesting, and artistic at that.

Yup, same studio as Madoka Magica. 8D Glad you're enjoying it! And yeah, I definitely hear you @ catching all the details. I rewatched parts of it with Silvy and caught a bunch more. >.> Plus the whole "pausing in microseconds to catch the flashed narrative/internal thoughts cards."

I hope it delivers for you!

It is kind of frustrating and I'd haaate to watch it live, but it's a great way of being a "hybrid text," and meta-textually constantly reminding you of its nature as a light novel adaptation. It allows extraneous information to be included/mostly the inner lives of characters/their emotional turmoil without being a time drag. More considered thoughts are generally voiced over anyway (depends on the character), the flashed narratives are like, subconscious thoughts? At least that's generally my impression. So it's like "thinking" vs. "talking to yourself."

It's definitely troll-y, but since I have a space button pause, I win in the end. 8D And the effect is really interesting.

You don't need to know it's a light novel adaptation. If people wanted a light novel they'd read the light novel. As it is they're watching an anime they want anime. It is an interesting way to give glimpses to inner monologues/thoughts, which screen mediums struggle with, but it really fails in the end because it's almost impossible to catch everything so either your reader doesn't catch everything or they have to take extra pains to catch everything.

It's just, really annoying, even if it is an interesting concept. Even space bar pause doesn't help in the end because they flash between screens so quickly sometimes.
