Shirayuki is such a badass, without being the super combat expert or anything. The iron confidence is a little forced and overtold sometimes, but it's cool seeing when it's expressed in actions. Some of the dialogue/internal narrative is pretty cheesey, but oh well. Fairy tale quality and all that.

I like how they're slowly developing Shirayuki's character/knowledge/career alongside and twined with the romance plot, without letting the latter compromise the former. ep 4 I also like how the whole "I developed an immunity to poison" cocky fantasy prince thing came up again, with the medical records and hardship of that process. That was a genuinely human side of a fantasy trope that I wasn't expecting, and I thought it was a lovely touch.

True Name: simplechild	i think ill stick with weekly red hair for my adorb fix, tyvm I accidentally into all of Sora no Woto today. It's... really good. I enjoyed watching it a lot. The setting's gorgeous and seeped with lore, the characters start out a bit tropey but gain their own identity soon after, the transition between the first and second half leaves very little to be desired, and most importantly I wasn't bored by the first half. Shit's great. You should watch Sora no Woto when you get the chance.

True Name: simplechild	Girl gets shipped to a rustic town and stationed at a military base with four other girls. All five make up a tank crew and they train for their respective roles during peacetime. Main girl in particular is learning how to play the trumpet/bugle. Feels really s'life-y at first, but there's enough happening with the setting and foreshadowing to keep you intrigued. It's not exactly clear "when" this story takes place, but this is very important to know later on. Got a lot of Haibane Renmei vibes, personally. Also has the same music composer as red hair. also dat kalafina op

I noticed early this episode that the sign Gel always makes with his fingers is like the exact opposite of Hajime's peace/scissors sign, and then they went out of their way to point out Gel's sign a few times. Not to mention Hajime's conversation with Gel this episode was hype. I think it'll be interesting to see where this goes once the citizens and Gel/Tsubasa start seeing the consequences of all the things they vote on without giving much thought. Finally ending on Rhythm with the CROWDS vote was an interesting decision, I want to see where they go with that next episode. Also, Tsubasa's grandfather is best girl.

Spoiler: click to toggle I doubt that the active political participation from the citizens is going to last very long, to which we can then start talking about voter turnout once all the dissenters are fully excluded from the majority. To which the third option hinted in the OP may make an appearance soon and we'll see what happens when we "leave it to Sadra". Each episode also makes the demise of Tsubasa's tsubasas all the sweeter to anticipate.

What if something really controversial comes up ~~like a best girl contest~~? The CROWDS decision could be end up being that, of course, being the premise of the show and all. Tsubasa's great-grandfather is right, there's just some things people will never agree on. ~~Like who is best girl.~~ Alternatively, "leave it to Sadra" could also come into play if people don't feel comfortable making their own decisions. Either way, it's an interesting look into the flaws of direct democracy. I really want to see if Berg-Katze is afraid of Gelsadra for reasons beyond them being opposites (Katze loving to turn people against each other, Sadra bringing people together). Related to that, best girl is Hajime's breasts, solbowz pls Holy shit I love the flaming and the shitposting in this show, it's so realistic "Here's the Gay-chan" lmfao Also wtf is up with Sugane, does he just hang out with chicks all the time now or what When did he become a stud Also just want you to know, simple, your avatar rotation was on Hajime when I came into this topic

There were good parts, bad parts, really good parts, and really bad parts, so my overall ending impression is a thoroughly moderate "okay." That seems to be the main feature of my anime-watching. Most of what I've seen has worked out to just "okay," which is, well, okay, for lack of a better term, but it is a little annoying. I'd like something to really click for me the same way Symphogear has at some point sooner rather than later.
