I'd imagine the appeal is less the yuri ship and more that it activates deep-seated 'Nam flashbacks of your high school concert band. At least for me this is the case. |

On the other hand, JoJo's part 4 was pretty fun, 8 or 9/10, would DORARARARARARARARA again Also making it official now that I've seen Shirou vs Gilgamesh ![]() [radio edit] ufotable, 0/10 would not onoreonoreonoreonoreonore |

Oh right, I forgot you were basing that entire argument before based on some clips you saw 8D Imgur's blocked at work, so you'll have to wait for me to react to that |

Easy, it's cooler and ideas are more clearly articulated. I'd have to rewatch the VN scene though, and I might on Youtube. Maybe I'm being too hard on the VN, but that definitely was one of the worst "fights" in the entire route. |

What ideas? That rad flips and big talk let you deflect swords machine gunned at you even easier than the knight of the lake without breaking a sweat? You sure convinced me. Also "cooler" more like cheesy in the worst possible way. |

We already discussed this in IM, so we'll spare the wider Temple the argument and basically summarize: basically Boyd wants loyalty to the source material, I want it to be a good story in its own right I feel that scene in particular was one of the better from the series in that regard, and elsewhere loyalty to the source material was one of the things holding it back from being a good story Overall I'd say it's probably like a 7/10 anime? Or a 6/10. |

Yeah, it definitely focuses more on the struggles of a high school concert band, which I'm glad it does. If someone wants yuri shipbait there's an abundance of other anime out there for them. Plus it's great to see KyoAni do SoL shows with a more serious tone, since they put dat glorious budget into making beautiful backgrounds and making the characters expressive and animated during conversations. jfc Boyd it's just an anime, sure it's not Kara no Kyoukai or F/Z but it's not like it's offensively bad. Plus it's hilarious seeing the reactions of people who don't know about the source material being an eroge and having their pure image of Rin shattered. Anyways, finished Jojo's Bizarre adventure a little while ago and about to finish Monogatari Series Second Season, they're both great in completely different ways. I think this might have topped Marshmallow Justice as my favourite Monogatari Series opening, Kaiki and Senjougahara have the voices of angels and the 90s artstyle is hilarious. It is offensively bad because all these new people in the fandom are going to think that shit is accurate/proper/right The Type Moon fandom is already [radio edit]ing awful, it doesn't need to get any worse Also, you know, it's not good on its own merits either anyway good job with JoJo's, Battle Tendency is great, Joseph is the best Now that you've finished it, watch this (Battle Tendency spoilers)

Yeah, true enough. I think an adaptation should usually focus on being good in its own right as opposed to being faithful to the original, since some things don't translate well between different mediums anyways. I personally found the UBW anime boring since I already knew the story, the fight scenes don't carry the suspense and intensity that the VN had and the long-winded dialogue may work to read through, but it can easily become a chore in something that you watch if it's not done right. Also, they dialed up the "lol so tsundere" with Rin, I'm completely fine with tsunderes but it feels really unnatural when they go out of their way to force the tsundere archetype, which happens more often than I'd like to admit with anime. Jojo's spoilers

Battle Tendency Yeah, Battle Tendency had great characters, it's hard to pick a favorite scene for me though. Joseph vs Wammu might be my favorite fight, it was just pretty great all around with Joseph's trickery and Wammu's honor as a warrior. Oh wait, AWAKEN MY MASTERS is 10/10, dat ost, dem Pillar Men, dat everything Are you going to move on to Stardust Crusaders? |

JoJo is amazing. I thought the first half of Stardust Crusaders kind of sucked, but it picked up eventually, and the last battle had a *lot* of buildup. And so far I'm really enjoying Part 4. I should add that I was hooked on parts 1 and 2 from the start. |

When it comes to H!E, I'm mainly in it for the schadenfreude of watching delusional yuri fangirls. I'm sure it's a decent show, but I'm not in the mood for typical high school overly dramatic slice of life at the moment. I hear Punch Line lost steam in the final stretch and is only mediocre. A pity, since I was looking forward to a show written by the 999 guy.
