The Caster scenes this episode were really good, I like the additions they made onto her first Master. Ilya is also great, better than the VN. The dashes of physical comedy are excellently silly -- Rin getting blasted by Ilya's barrier and shaking her fist at Ilya and telling her to stop laughing, and basically everything Shinji is involved in. And Gilgamesh seems improved so far, they seem to be making him less of a tryhard edgelord, so him praising Sella's loyalty and stuff was excellent. I'm not so sure about the ~dramatic sakura wind~, especially because this is what, mid-Feb? But it was a cool effect I guess? Disappearance ep 2 still has awful writing and scene transitions, but it is pretty cute/funny and the OST is absolutely stunning. Cribbing off various classical pieces ftw Sidonia s2 e1 Definitely the best thing I'm watching so far. GAUNA MOE Nagate's nightmare of that was fantastic And Izana-Nagate are 2cute, muh jetpacks Ochiai or however it's spelt seems like a good villain, it's nice to have someone articulating weird philosophies and appearing to generally help. And exploring his lab had those just like, bone-crunching, finger-cutting-off wince moments that make Sidonia so tense. Also gauna mech is 2cool and has some really weird Freudian stuff that I love: her "father" is in her "womb," so like, the "daughter" is carrying the "father" who "created" her not sure if I like Sidonia's new OP but the ED is great

I've been pretty annoyed with how this arc has been dragging out and focusing on all these lame characters. I'm eager for it to end because it looks like we'll finally be getting a new Straw Hat (barrier guy probably).
