Was that your favourite scene?
Is this even a question?
Well he could also like the scene where Araragi wipes the sweat of his sister's bare body, the scene where he gets chained up by his girlfriend or the scene where he has a 10 minute conversation with a certain character, both stark naked in the bathroom. It's not just about the toothbrush ya know.
It's a secret!

But seriously, it's not my favorite scene but it's the one that sticks out in my mind the most because it's one of the most bizarre scenes in anime.

Yeah, it certainly is the most infamous part of it, the whole series is bizarre but that part is the icing on the cake. I just, don't know what to feel.

Time for more anime collecting.

Right now I need your best tips for

  • Sci-fi anime. Anything from Star Wars/Star Trek stuff, to realistic stuff, to NGE, cyberpunk-ish etc etc. Sci-fi.

  • Mysterious and intense anime. Anime that makes you think and wonder, big mysteries, thrilling and intense plot etc.

  • Animes that screams of the 80s. Neon, style, soundtrack. If you got something good that's actually from the 80's and does that would be perfect. Think Akira.

  • Since I mentioned Akira, anime with God tier soundtracks.

  • Adventerous anime. I want to go on an adventure. One Piece does this very good. You really feel like you're traveling with them to unknown lands with endless possibilites.

  • Classic must watch animes. I don't know how far back you guys are knowledgeable about anime. When did anime get good? Like, is there anything good way back in the 60's? If there are then I'd like anything must watch from the 60s-90's then.

  • Let's go all out, the single best anime you've ever experienced. If it sounds good I'll watch it.

As previously, just list everything that comes to mind. I might've seen it or not, doesn't matter I need it all.

Also, I'm thankful for anime movies as well, not just series.

Bubblegum Crisis. I think Megazone 23 is also supposed to be about as 80s as you can get. I would say Bryger but that's more extremely 70s, I think.

Main scifi I've seen is Knights of Sidonia, which has a second season coming out soon. Seconding Simple's Psycho-pass recommendation. Forget about Psycho-Pass 2 though.

Fate/Zero, Kara no Kyoukai, Madoka Magica. RahXephon. This is probably my favourite "genre," so yeah.

Seconding Jojo's.

... Fate/Zero, Kara no Kyoukai, Madoka Magica. 8DDD And RahXephon. Though what you consider god-tier depends on opinion, ofc.

I'm not very good with retro stuff, alas. Probably the most retro thing I've seen is Digimon. <_< >_> Maybe that works for adventure as well?

Hard question, but possibly Kara no Kyoukai. Either that or Madoka Magica.

Hey, don't you like post-rock? Because Terror in Resonance is full of it.

I'm gonna plug a couple more into "single best" because [radio edit] having a single best: Haibane Renmei, Mushishi, Hourou Musuko, Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen

I like many things, Dimple. Truth be told though, OST is probably one of the things that I look for least in an anime. I like it if it's there, but I can just listen to the soundtrack independently if I need to.

Just as with movies and tv series, music in anime can completely set the mood. It can be equally important to the storytelling as with anything else. So with a good soundtrack I don't just mean something that sounds good, but something that completes the whole picture. That's why I mentioned Akira. While I really like the sound of that soundtrack on its own, I also think it fits perfect with what's happening on the screen, in the story. Another anime I think does this good is Neon Genesis Evangelion. In these two examples I think you can hear/see that there's a point to the music besides just being pleasant to the ear.

I don't think you don't understand the importance of music in various media and I'm not trying to tell you how to enjoy your animes or anything, just trying to explain what I might be searching for when I asked for animes with "God tier soundtrack".

But thanks for the tips so far, checking them out and downloading until my computer starts sweating.

In that case, yes, Madoka Magica's OST lends itself very much to the story.

All right. I've heard a lot about it. All I know of the plot is that it features small magical anime girls. I don't know if I got enough courage needed to take that step but I'll bite.

Down so far from the latest tips: Galactic Heroes, Psycho-Pass, FLCL, JoJo and now Madoka. I think.

I've finally taken the step into the void haven't I. I've started to watch anime. Actually watch anime. There's a big difference between watching and watching. I'm going to gain weight, start using the word kawaii without being ironic, lose whatever I call my social life and buy one of those anime girl pillows with whatever 9 year old girl I call my waifu on it.

And how can I possibly deal with being a comic book nerd at the same time.

Well KitN, it's more that most of the anime I mentioned for the other categories were ones that had god-tier soundtracks, so it's kind of hard to compete with that group/make a soundtrack that'll actually impress me. I think the main one whose soundtrack stuck out to be that I didn't mention was Serial Experiments Lain.
And what I was more getting at is that I've heard Terror In Resonance has some definite flaws to it, so I wouldn't watch an anime just for the soundtrack.

You could also watch it for the animation. Or the cinematography. Or the thematic execution.

Just don't watch it for quality scriptwriting lel because thats the biggest stinker about it.
