True Name: simplechild	I think you'll like Yona of the Dawn once it's finished. It doesn't quite escape the bad parts of its reverse harem setup though, and is the main reason why I don't think of it as highly.

On the other hand there's this reportedly "readable" sub of Yurikuma that I'm downloading right now so maybe it won't take a while.

True Name: simplechild	Chock-full of translation memes, more like. It's still readable. Also Yurikuma 01 is about as shocking and disorienting as you'd expect. Also doesn't have the word "subtle" in its dictionary.

It's pretty damn great so far, but that's just after one episode. The metafictional and mythic elements are really interesting. Base Shaft once again. The pls is real but not too too bad so far, I can overlook it because the rest is great.

Member #1,237 Joined: September 17, 2014 True Name: Kitten	I've been planning on going through some typical "must watch" animes I haven't seen so I can hang with the cool people who watches anime 24/7 and I just finished Death Note for the first time. It's one I've always had my eyes on but never gone through with watching it. What an amazing ride and what an ending. Light makes me question my sexuality.

I've read that it follows very closely to the manga and that the only significant difference would be the ending. To me they both seem very fitting and gets the point through. Spoiler: click to toggle Sure the manga ending does make it more pitiful though. I'd say he dies very pitifully in anime as well, just...more peacefully as well. Doesn't really bother me. And what, maybe more blood at certain parts I guess? Nudity?

Yeah, there's definitely some great things to pull away from Bakemonogatari, I have my complaints about it but the mythic elements, quirky characters and more abstract, often bizarre visuals make it memorable. Shaft does a good job at making long sequences of dialogue visually interesting through their varied "camera angles" and odd art style shifts, it brings the scenes and characters to life beyond watching lips sync to whatever each character is saying. Thank god they do a good job with it too, otherwise Bakemonogatari would be a snorefest to watch with its heavy emphasis on dialogue. Battles were great but Fubuki pls, atleast Akagi was cool and it looks like she'll get some decent screentime. Bonus points for having Shoukaku in the first ep, even if it was only for a little bit. I wonder if they have the guts to sink any of the ships, would cause so much butthurt.

I've also been watching Death Note, on ep 23 after 3 months or so, so good progress for me! XD personally, I've been finding it overrated and kinda meh. Its had good moments sure, but its definitely not all its been hyped up at me to be

The [radio edit]ing leaps of logic I saw being made were unbelievably stupid, not to mention the ridiculous over-dramatization of everything. It kinda killed any desire I had to watch it.
