Oh no, he has extra lives, good thing Saber can just easily kill him again Also she only gets one [radio edit]ing cut on her face with Berserker's last attack before she kills him. Being in the vicinity of Caladbolg's explosion dirtied her more than anything Berserker did. And there's no reason to think Ilya even knew Archer was watching her, stop making shit up Re: Prisma Ilya: I refuse to believe the majority saw Saber and thought "she's too strong, this sucks." Also wtf are you talking about, the Saber fight is the most highly praised thing about Prisma Ilya's anime and it's mere existence convinced many people to watch it in the first place. It's the same deal though, she's no selling because she has A Rank Magic Resistance and she's being hit by magic, so that the studio kept that in is a good thing. Even more so than Berserker here, she was supposed to be the unstoppable juggernaut. I'm not going to get into an argument about you know who, so I'll just ignore that. I will say that how Berserker is used in UBW and HF for that matter is a shame though. Also no you can't flip it why do I have to spoil this As for the cover thing in the VN it was because the uneven terrain makes it more unwieldy for Berserker to move while Saber was more free to dodge and weave. Since he'd either have to step on the tombstones, making him easier to topple (the VN implies that Saber was trying to knock him over IIRC) or he'd have to waste time going through them, yeah. Also you're still missing the point about "adaptation so it's okay" Like I said, Ilya fighting Rin is a nice expansion, it's a good thing. This is about the rules of the universe, and only those. Like if this anime decided that, say, Lancer should kill Rider, that didn't happen in the VN but it'd be believable within the scope of the narrative. This is not. |

That's hilarious. Urobutcher for scriptwriter '15!
Except when Ilya uses her swords to be about to kill Rin, Archer snipes it out of the air between them. So it seems pretty obvious that Ilya knows Archer was there, was watching, and had pinpoint accuracy abilities. But he never targeted her, even when she was plainly trying to kill his Master. EDIT: And my point that an adaptation doesn't have to follow the rules of the original to the letter. This happens in book->movie adaptations all the time. Different authors working on it, and etc. And it's not really inconsistent if it's relevant like, nowhere else. But if that change was Nasu-sanctioned, would your feelings still be the same? |

Oh right, that. I'm not going to let flimsy excuses cover up for ufotable's shitty writing though, they clearly still meant Caladbolg. |

I'm not baiting Boyd, I'm trying to convince him of the errors of his ways. This post is also to remind me later to try Chaika 2. I need more eyebrows in my life. |

Got a friend to try Symphogear and YuYuYu. She had fun with both but liked the latter better.

Parasyte has really picked up. Good stuff. So do you fine people prefer subs or dubs? Why/why not? Do you perhaps even watch both? |

I usually prefer subs, both because it lets me practice Japanese, and also because I find the voice acting is better. Whether that's because it actually is, or because I just don't know enough Japanese to be able to judge what is or isn't good voice acting, I'm not sure, but yeah. Of course, there's still plenty of good dubs, but given the choice I'll watch sub. However, I won't complain about people watching dubs unless it's actually bad. Many dubs, like Haruhi's, Madoka Magica's, and Fate/Zero's, are really solid and well done. Also, just binged the first five episodes of Chaika season 2. It's better than the first season so far, I think, and it continues to be endearing and somewhat thought-provocative, if not particularly deep or recommend-worthy. I don't think it's a must-see show by any means, but it's cute and entertaining and the fights are cool. Finally getting some details on the overall plot, too. |

I'll watch both. If the option exists I'll usually try out the dub and keep watching with that if it's at least average. Don't mind watching with subs at all though. |

It kind of depends on how i was first exposed to the show, I tend to stick with that like Pokemon or yu gi oh, i have to watch the dub or it just seems off but most of the time i prefer sub And I disagree with Satty about the F/Z dub being solid |

The less Japanese the setup is, the more likely I'm going to enjoy the dub more. Nothing feels more awkward to me than an English speaking person trying to pronounce Japanese words and attempt wordspaces that are are much better heard in Japanese. Fullmetal Alchemist, Xam'd, Gankutsuou, Tiger & Bunny, Cowboy Bebop, Eureka Seven, and Baccano are examples of dubs I really like, while Attack on Titan and Gundam 00 are counterexamples of this phenomenon. Of course, that doesn't mean that all the dubs of more Japanese anime are bad. I managed to get my way through Shiki's dub without a lot of complaints, for example, and Mushishi thankfully has so little talking that I don't rag on the dub (though there's little to complain about when it comes to Mushishi's dub). And Cromartie High school's English dub does the comedic timing a lot more justice than the Japanese one. So if Rage of Bahamut and Garo get English Dubs, there's a good chance that I'll like those a lot more than the sub. |

I agree with Simple on dubs, they feel a lot more natural if the setting isn't Japanese. Most dubs are pretty good regardless so I tend to atleast give them a shot if whatever show has a dub but I don't mind subs at all. Most of the dubs I haven't liked tend to be ones with younger characters because a lot of voice actors try to make their voices sound younger to fit w/e character, some can pull it off but oh my god does it ever grate my ears when they don't. Just watched the first 4 episodes of Chaika season 2 and yeah, it's indeed pretty good. Love the fight scenes so far, probably my favourite out of what I've seen this season in that respect. Plot seems to be moving along at a much faster rate, which is definitely nice after the slow-ish parts of the first season. |

My opinion on dubs tends to line up with Aaron's. I'll joke about being a snob about subs over dubs, but in actuality I don't care what other people watch, though I personally tend to prefer subs. Although, yeah, for non-Japanese settings with a lot of foreign words, good dubs are nice. Like, why on earth did Emma never get a dub, what the heck? Friggin', I mean, that would be hecka popular with the teaboo period drama BBC fans these days, why not hire actual actors to do the voice work (not the same four people who dub everything English ever), maybe some big names to give it clout for the release, this was just a total wasted opportunity because the weakest part of the series was how silly the English words sounded in Japanese, and otherwise it was great, ugggh. Also, YuYuYu continues to hold my attention, and it needs to be next Thursday already, aaaaaaaaah.
