Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! You become a Kradenette.

Certainly incentivizes people to marathon the first half before going into the second.

I'm currently watching Higurashi, I'm on the 8th episode of the second season.

This show is pretty good. And Kai's opening song is amazing, it's one of my favorite emotional OPs ever.

Pretty much everything since the introduction of Five has been going downhill. RIP in pieces.

Also Lisa turned out to be such a terrible character.

No, because you're still not watching Barakamon.

EDIT: Oh boy, I just realized I haven't watched the latest episode, so I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up.

So what mangas and animes are popular around here?

Got anything good that includes mechas and/or cyberpunk themes? Extra points if it includes supernatural elements like Ergo Proxy. Some I've seen/I'm watching is Ergo Proxy, Ghost in the Shell, Akira (recently started the manga as well), NGE and Gurren Lagann. Classic or modern doesn't matter. So anything like that. There are like a bazillion different Gundam series, which ones the best? Are they all connected somehow?

Is anyone here reading Attack on Titan?

Am I the only one that have gone full circle with the chaotic wreck called Bleach? From loving it to hating it, to today, where I just don't give a horses ass anymore and is actually hyped for every single chapter?

You would probably like Psycho-Pass, which is getting a second season soon. It's basically GitS.

What kind of mecha are you looking for? Gundam is a lot different from NGE or Gurren Lagann.

Also you should watch Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

Yes, but none of it's popular here because mecha is a cool genre to hate.

For Gundam, just start with the original, 0079. It's one of the best places to start if you don't mind old shows.

RahXephon is an awesome mecha show...but be aware that it gets quite deep, philosophical and intricate in its narrative at times. It isn't for everyone and if you're more of the type that likes watching mechas punch and blow each other up, I wouldn't watch it. It does have a beautiful OP, on that note.

If you want something of a simpler nature, Majestic Prince is a well done 'five man team that must save the universe' type show.

Psycho-Pass sounds good to me, I'll check it out.

At the moment, anything tbh. If it's something dark or deep I'll enjoy that as much as I like colorful over the top fighting mechas like that found in Gurren Lagann.

I think I've heard of Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I'll check it out because of the title alone.

What? You serious? Well that sucks. What about cyberpunk then? Nobody could possibly hate on cyberpunk as a genre, right? Anything good there?

Alright. Then it's decided. The day I start Gundam I'll start from the beginning.

Oh, forgot to mention; MJP has amazing combat scenes. But nor does it shirk the outside interactions with the characters to achieve it, which is usually my biggest problem with mecha shows.

Teoria is awful though

Cool, that makes it easier. Miral and I are the de-facto experts of the genre so if you have any questions, ask us.

RahXephon, Gunbuster, and Shin Mazinger are the ones I'd recommend most of all, with all three of them being really different shows that give a good look into what the genre can give.

Peo, I don't think you can acronym anime if you're telling it to someone for the first time. That's Majestic Prince, right...?

I wouldn't say mecha is hated here, there's just not a lot of fans...

Um, I'm a little short on mecha and cyberpunk recs, though echoing RahXephon. Oh, and Knights of Sidonia aired last spring and has a second season coming up in Winter. It's kind of like mecha/sci-fi, maybe that'd be worth checking out a bit? Fair warning though, it's full CGI, though I think done well.
