They changed up the story a bit, perhaps not main events but it certainly unfolds differently - which I actually like to see an alternate take on it. It goes by rather swiftly and anyone unfamiliar with the games would sure to be lost but I like it enough. Also they made Albedo even creepier than before. Yikes. Eeeewww. I hate the art style, it's so ugly. Albedo looks like a drowned rat. And the dub...oh my god. Xenosaga is awesome but they dropped the ball with the anime IMO. The OP and ED themes aren't bad though.

Seriously, though, I think I only ever made it up to when you take control of Junior for the first time. After that I simply could not beat whatever enemies the game was throwing at me. I had no idea they made an anime adaptation, but it may be worth looking into rather than fishing out my old copy of the game.

Man, I need to go over my live notes from a few weeks ago. >_> Spoiler: click to toggle The Different Story manga goes a lot more in-depth on her backstory, it's so depressing. ;_; It takes place before it branches off from the anime, so it's still canon. And seeing as how the Xenosaga anime only covers one of the three games, don't bother. You'd be better off watching the cutscenes on YouTube.

Xenosaga 1 is way easier when you learn that pumping your Tech Points into stats instead of skills (aside from Speed) is the more viable way to use them. You can get strong pretty quickly this way. If you don't do that though, yeah, it's a hard game.

The dub is pretty awful and the art style does look terrible at times...but I will accept its flaws for it is Xenosaga. I love what they did with Tony and Hammer, they are making me chuckle pretty hardily. And yeah, Asphodel, it is a difficult game if you don't grind. Once you get to Old Miltia and can travel back to it it makes farming points of any kind waaaay easier.

It's probably pretty close to how it happened (since why else show it?), but yeah.
