Watching a show where the characters are just likeable enough that I can overlook their flaws but flawed enough that I don't get overwhelmingly embarrassed for them. It's interesting, and the concept is keeping me hooked.

D-frag, Nisekoi, Silver Spoon, Log Horizon are the my favorites so far. I haven't had time to watch all the season's releases, though.

You might as well just tell him to watch Aquarion.

You're right, it's not that good yet. If I was seriously recommending something from this season I'd say Hamatora.

Kill La Kill is worth a shot for anyone that liked Gurren Lagann. And Sakura Trick is all kinds of adorable.

I've watched three episodes of Index and I find it really hard to keep up with what's going on.

Also, the latest Naruto episode did not disappoint.

There really isn't much to keep up with in Index. All of the important plot points in this particular arc are sent into the background once episode 6 is over.

Definitely enjoying The Tatami Galaxy so far. I've three episodes left, and I'm interested in seeing how everything is resolved. I was a bit skeptical if this'd be my cup of tea, but somehow it works for me.

I stayed up late to finish it and was glad I did. I didn't know how I expected it to end, but it fit, and I was very happy with it. It's such a strange show I'm having a hard time getting specific thoughts about it down. But I liked it.

Tatami Galaxy

I'm glad you liked it! Tatami Galaxy is pretty dense in comparison to other shows, so it's a bit difficult to recommend to people, but it's a great "non-anime" anime. If you liked the quirky animation style, the director also made Kaiba.

Okay, so I'm working on a panel for the con in April, and the idea for it is to highlight thirteen series that have thirteen episodes or less apiece. The trouble is that while that's my preferred length, there aren't that many I've seen that are good enough to recommend to people in general. Like, there are plenty I've seen that I don't regret watching, but I wouldn't enthusiastically encourage people to watch them either. So I'm gonna list what I've got, and maybe y'all can give me some suggestions as well. I still have time to watch new things. I also plan to rewatch several of these series listed below so that I can confirm my opinions on them. It's been years since I've seen a few of 'em.

Definitely using
Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Moshidora
The Tatami Galaxy
Katanagatari

Probably including
Kino no Tabi
Gai Re: Zero
Ano Natsu de Matteru
Hataraku Maou-sama!

Sure, if nothing better shows up
Baccano
Angel Beats
Kuragehime
Toshokan Sensou

A note on my criteria, in no particular order: thirteen episodes of less, must be good enough to recommend without (m)any reservations, shouldn't have crappy pacing. (The latter is mainly what I'm worried about for some of these that I don't remember as well.) I need at least one more series to get to thirteen, and a few more better ones to bump up the overall quality of the list wouldn't hurt. So yeah, thoughts or suggestions?

Yes, I know you gave me some stuff to watch. =P But I'm looking for even more input, or some thoughts on the choices I already have. ^_^

The only 12-episode series I've seen that's not Angel Beats is Elfen Lied.

On another note, I've watched 14 episodes of Index. It's not bad so far, but I hear Railgun is much better.

Railgun is alright, it's one of those shows where not much actually happens and it's pretty episodic. I don't know about Elfen Lied as it literally cuts out the second half of the story, amongst other things.

Obvious choice for short series would be Girls Und Panzer, Canaan isn't bad either but I wouldn't call it great.
