It's more that they're jiggling all over the screen and are in your face. If it was just straight up yuri I'd probably be tempted to watch it but that is a "do not want" right there. |

Do you have an idea of what kind of anime you want to watch? We can more accurately give you good suggestions if you do that. |

Yeah, what kind of anime do you like? What are your favourites so far? What do you usually like in stories? Any information like that would be helpful.

So, about Higurashi. I've heard the anime is generally considered meh and that the VN is a much better choice. Can anyone here confirm or deny that and explain why? I trust the opinions of the users here a lot more than I do those at GameFAQs or something. |

I haven't read the VN, but the Higurashi anime was pretty okay when I watched it. Which was around six years ago. I would guess that the anime could not fit in enough important content from the VN and that's why it might suck in comparison. |

I thought the anime was pretty good. First season isn't too great, especially since the pacing can be wut-tier but the second season was better(it shifts the focus to the best character in the show so it's obviously better). I haven't read the VN but the general consensus is that although the anime isn't bad, the VN is superior. There's the occasional few who will call the anime an "abomination" in comparison but plenty who say it doesn't skip out on too much of the important stuff(although the atmosphere is what a lot of people found the anime lacked in comparison with the VN, not so much the content). Also, don't watch the dub, jfc don't watch the dub unless you want to claw your eardrums out or something. |

I only watched higurashi's anime, and I liked it. I mean, alone, the first season is awful and nothing makes sense. But then the second season comes along and it gets pretty freak'n good. |

Just watched Nobunagun episode 2. pretty good, pacing feels a little weird because last ep was non-action->action and this continued action->nonaction, so it feels like not much happened, even though it did. That next episode preview is wut, though. Silvy suggested picking up Noragami, I think we just might. He totally wants it just because of the shrine maidens, though. |

Thanks for the opinions on Higurashi. I'll probably check the anime out first and the VN later. Thinking about starting the Raildex series soon. |

On Higurashi. For the anime, the animation quality is sometimes lacking, and it does exclude some content from the SNs. But I don't think it was terrible, being most of the way through the originals at this point. Lacking in some ways, but not awful. It's reasonable enough as a way to enter if you can get through it, since as Shmittles points out, the first season alone (based on ~four of eight SNs) is basically a bunch of unanswered questions. For the sound novels, the art is QUALITY at best, unless you can find a patch that I think exists? I haven't bothered. It contains rather more information than the anime both by virtue of the format and being free to more deeply explore character thoughts and such, and because the anime left out the TIPS sections at the end of each portion of each SN. So there's some loss of information, and the post-game sequence in several of them where the characters try to figure out what's going on themselves. Because When They Cry, playing with meta, etc. So I personally think the anime is reasonable if you just want to get a feel for it and see the overall story, but there's a fair bit more information in the sound novels. Both have QUALITY: anime is periodic, SNs as a constant because Ryukishi can art. "Abomination" is overstating it, but my general feeling is that the SNs, as a whole, are better. And for the manga I've only done the first two arcs so I can't really talk much about it. |

So, Noragami is fun and entertaining, if not particular deep. It seems to be like Kyoukai no Kanata in premise, but basically better. Just watched the first two episodes.

Wow, way to assume that the only reason I become interested in an anime is because of shrine maidens. Noragami seems like a decent show. Characters are fun and although the whole "oh crap spirits are everywhere" thing has been done to death, this show pulls it off in a way that it's holding my interest. The art looks pretty and the animation is decent, although it would be quite the letdown if it wasn't considering it's Bones. ...Could use some more shrine maidens though. |
