Temple of Kraden News: Welcome to the Temple of Kraden! ------ All worshipers may enter the Most Holy Place in single file, reflecting on the bountiful blessing Kraden hath provided unto him or herself since their last visit. Head coverings are not necessary, as true penitence and humility are found within. The Priests and Priestesses of Kraden endeavor to remind all that fresh orange juice is heavily preferred; only whores use frozen.
Greetings, heathen. Perhaps some fortuitous blessing of Kraden's grace hath led you to our humble Temple, or perhaps you are simply curious about this strange and wonderful cult. Should you be willing - and dare to hope - to achieve enlightenment, the door opens before you. Lo! Leave your old life behind! For once you step through, you become something more than just yourself.

You become a Kradenette.

Started reading B Gata H Kei. I'm considering watching it.

Someone save me. щ(゚Д ゚щ)
Gah, watching it.

It's an ecchi rom-com, pretty much. Main character is a freshman girl named Yamada. Her goal? 100 [radio edit] buddies. You read that right. [radio edit] buddies. And her first target is an unfortunately ordinary guy named Kosuda.

Lots of off-color humor centered around losing your virginity ensues. I feel so ashamed for watching it because I shouldn't be laughing but I almost fell off my chair doing just that.

Oh Star Driver, what amazing symbolic foreshadowing/farewell scene that was ON A BUS. <3333

I am definitely ranking Star Driver on my top 5 anime at this rate.
Star Driver is an awesome anime. Fantastic characters, superb animation and a great mix of serious/comedy.

Seriously, can't wait to see Episode 11, especially as it has appears to have copious amounts of Kanako Watanabe. She's my favourite character; everything she says and does is comedy gold.

Yeah, Star Driver is awesome. <3 I don't watch much anime nowadays, but it's really fun to watch Star Driver with Peo every week and discuss it. The characters and story are amazing and enjoyable. :3

Watanabe-san is also my favorite character, defiantly.

Watched Millennium Actress. I now know what my next avatar rotation will consist of. /o/

That, and Satoshi Kon is really freaking amazing with everything he touches.

I did. And it was awesome.

I also marathoned Kara no Kyoukai. If you can stomach the gore, it's a beautiful anime. It's paced a bit deliberately, but that's allowed because 5/7 episodes are 50 minutes and the other 2 are movie-length. Animation is friggin amazing, the music is orgasmic, and the characters are pretty fun to watch. Also, snow equals death and love at the same time.

Watch it if you're familiar with Fate/Stay Night or Tsukihime.

Simple and others, what would you recommend for me if I want an anime series similar to Clannad in its emotional intensity and hopeful outlook? I've already watched Kanon.

ef - a tale of memories would be a suggestion that fits what you're looking for. Well, not necessarily in the hopeful outlook department but It Gets Better.

Also, if you liked Arakawa Under the Bridge, you need to watch Bakemonogatari too.

*checks* Both are on my to-watch list. I'll come back to Twelve Kingdoms later; it's not really doing it for me. I'll watch one or the other of those instead. Thanks!

Emotional levels of Clannad? That's gonna be tough, Key makes some really good tearjerkers.

I honestly can't think of one that's on the level of Clannad, but Toradora and Midori no Hibi are good choices.

Yeah, a lot of the emotionally stirring anime I know tend to not be as hopeful as Clannad.

Nyoro~n. Yeah, it's difficult to find series that can be intense but don't sink into "everything is doomed and depressed forever." My favorite books, the Chaos Walking trilogy, is a master at this and is probably the Clannad of the book world.

I know several that can get to a bittersweet ending, like Xam'd and Bokurano.

Of course, if you want a full-blown tragedy there is nothing else than School Days.

See, I can dig bittersweet. Because that usually implies that not everything's doomed. Even if some bad stuff happened, there's hope for the future. And I did enjoy Xam'd. ^_^
