I've heard a lot of mixed opinions on Attack on Titan so I don't think I'll watch it now that it's finished airing. I've only seen the first episode which was alright but Peytral said it doesn't get any better later on and I think I can trust his opinion over most animu fans.

Both the first and second openings are awesome though.

It's not bad but it's not good either and tries to rely too much on gore and shock value. Plus it's terrible at keeping its DRAMA in check which leads to some hilariously melodramatic moments here and there. The whole thing is just kind of tryhard edgy babby's first grimdark anime with terrible pacing, inappropriate music, and lots of lazy cost-cutting animation techniques but it's probably still worth watching for the neat ideas it has.

Did I use enough buzzwords?

Meh, I can see how Attack on Titan could seem too over-the-top in a lot of ways, but I still think it pulled it off.

On a different note, I finished watching season 1 of Little Busters yesterday. It seemed... generic. I mean, it certainly wasn't bad, but I'm not sure why I hear about it so much. Was its anime adaption lacking in comparison to the base material, or what? The setting wasn't particularly interesting, and I didn't find the stories especially interesting, but clearly this series focuses more on the characters than anything else. But even with that in mind, the characters seemed to range from great, to okay, to bad. So to average it's main focus (characters) up, the anime just seems... okay.

I've heard that the LB anime wasn't as good as the VN or anything, yeah, but someone else will have to confirm.

I dropped the LB anime. Definitely didn't enjoy it as I enjoyed the VN.

From what I can tell, that's an understatement.

Aww yeah, such a lulz show.

Blazblue had more Rachel and Ragna being badass plus Hazama being crazy so I was not disappointed.

Eh, not enough hyperbole. "Terrible" doesn't count because it's kind of a Temple catchphrase.

Two episodes in and yeah, I'm not feeling it. The pacing really is noticeably sluggish and while I like the dark atmosphere and the gravitas of the titans themselves, the characters are just so aggravating and take up too much screentime with their bickering. That protagonist, especially. He seems so out of place, like he belongs in a shonen series.

Beautiful looking anime, though, and I mean really good. One of the bigger problems I've had with modern anime is how sterile everything looks, with too little contrast between light and shadows. Good to see some actual saturation going on for once.

Anyway, I hear Episode 5 is a doozy, so I'll watch up to there and see if that changes my mind.

The first few episodes are actually pretty good. It kind of just... takes a pretty steep decline around episode... 10, I think? After that the pacing becomes notably worse, the focus of the show shifts a lot, and there are just long stretches where nothing really interesting happens.

Though that's just my opinion, and there were definitely some good episodes scattered around.

That's, uh, because this is adapted from a shounen manga. From a shounen magazine. Yeah.

Oh, derp. My bad, then. I'm still in the habit of thinking of shonen as a straight-up genre instead of a demographic.

I really need to relearn how 2 anime. D:

Hey now, it has a 7.6 on MAL. It's "good". (though 7 pretty much means "okay" rather than "good")

Mind you that I, personally, am judging the anime way harshly since the LB vn is my favorite story. Refrain seems to be doing better than the first season, so far.

I assume he means "one of the minority that actually enjoyed the LB anime and who aren't part of the unwashed plebeian masses that make up 90% of MAL."

Since I rarely ever seem to see people that actually liked the LB anime myself.

It's pretty much Elfen Lied but for modern-day casuals and not early-2000s casuals.
