It may not be a direct result of the quality of the animation studio itself but it still plays a part in how enjoyable the series they put out is. Yeah, the OST is definitely the best part of the F/SN anime and it stands as the only thing the anime has over the VN. The anime itself still wasn't terrible anyways, although it definitely wasn't anything to write home about either. I think it's more just risky territory to try and pull off a VN in a 26 or 13 episode anime than the studio itself. Just look at the Tsukihime anime and how people say "it doesn't exist" as an example of another studio that didn't do a good VN adaptation. Then you have the longer series such as Clannad and Higurashi, which still hold a reputation as good series because they can cover more of the content of the VN.

That's a real shame, if you have to put it that way. I hope you do give it another chance when you have the time, since Gankutsuou is one of my favorite anime. Can't blame you for disliking the gaudy 2004 Gonzo animation though.

Well... we'll see, maybe I'll attend that day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_V79VL23us&fmt=18 Was watching the Blazblue anime trailer, it doesn't really look that good. I mean, I guess the plot's great for a fighting game, but as an anime... I dunno, it feels really conventional. Probably there will be lots of shounen fights. I'll just try to keep my expectations low, and hopefully it'll surprise me. Like Prisma Illya. Sunday Without God, last episode Last episode WAS pretty good, and I kinda liked the plot twist. Kinda. Buuuut then they had to ruin it with a "zomg he's miraculously alive ending," which I hear the light novel didn't have. Dee is still the most evocative character in ages -- love her killing one of the classmates and then allowing him to revive and artificially resetting the world -- also answering the "why didn't Alis just explain things that way?" question. Still a gaping plothole in the form of: why was Dee a ghost in the outside world? Given that she didn't think she was dead the first time she went there, it can't be some kind of "because she thought it it happened," and she wasn't the one who was actually dead, so... Yuri and Scar continued to be useless, and I have absolutely no clue why Celeca even exists. Is her only function just to render Scar maternal? But yeah, overall, I'd say a series that had a lot of promise and... then kinda bombed it in the second half. There was a lot of promise with the macabre and the folktale/myth in the first six episodes, and then in the last half it more or less went "lolschool life" and attendant dramas. Which imo, is much less interesting. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the last episode did nothing to wrap up more than the last arc. So suuuuper episodic. So I'd rate the series 5/10, maybe 6/10, for a great first half but a... kinda meh second half. Of the three shows I watched this summer season, pretty sure it's going to be: 1) Symphogear G 2) Prisma Illya 3) Sunday Without God
