But...Catch You Catch Me isn't supposed to be epic. That's the point. It actually reflects the tone of the show, rather than the two epic episodes in the series. Also, Cardcaptors is a travesty. A horrible, horrible travesty that you should feel ashamed about. |

Cardcaptors is pretty bad considering all the edits they made. It's probably one of the dubs with the largest amounts of changes. |

Just saw the Kill la Kill preview and holy shit I am in love with the main character's design. The art style is really nice, too, if a bit on the rough side. The show looks waaaaay too silly/fanservicey, though. I'll give the first few episodes a look, but I'm not really expecting much. =\ |

Actually, wait, didn't they have a second dub that didn't cut out episodes and try and turn Syaoran into the main character? HyrulianJedi checks Wikipedia Okay, same dub, but when initially aired in the US, they chopped it to hell and back. The full dub only really edits out the non Sakura/Syaoran relationships (since holy shit did CCS try and span that spectrum), and downplays that one pretty hard. Which, considering that love dodecahedron is the main subplot of the series, makes it lose a lot. |

I did hear they cut out ALOT of CCS because lol yuri isn't allowed, but I haven't seen it in Japanese outside of the first episode so I can't judge. If it wasn't like 70 episodes then I would've watched it by now. No I am not ashamed of watching the dub of Cardcaptors when I was a kid because I wouldn't have known any better. I am horribly ashamed that I watched Escaflowne after rewatching a year ago though. I'll be checking out kill la kill as well. It doesn't look like a particularly good show but it'll probably be fun nonetheless. |

I'm pretty sure the only old time dub you're allowed to have fondness for over the original Japanese version without being called terrible besides Pokemon and Dragonball (after a certain point) is Digimon Adventure, and actual Digimon hot hunk of manmeats probably will still hate you But they're dumb, because Richard Epcar is a god on earth |

Modern dubs are perfectly fine, as they rarely feature any sort of editing. However, older dubs are infamous for gutting the original content and altering major aspects of the show. |

Right, and those had less editing than others, even if they were still edited. Music being replaced aside. Also helps that Digimon and DBZ had male voices on male characters. |

Pretty sure I've never heard anyone say anything bad about the Cowboy Bebop dub though, then again that show was pretty much pandering to a Western audience already. It's not like modern dubs don't get a bad rep either though, particularly for having voices that are "out of character" like Yuno's English voice in Mirai Nikki. I just can't help but wonder why people make such a big deal of it when they can just watch it in subs instead. |

I was just talking about older dubs, Silvandorf. Since the topic was Card Captors and how it was gutted by it's dub. Comparatively, Pokemon/DBZ/Digimon Adventure had much less editing. Not that I ever saw Card Captors, but I know Digimon Adventure even got away with using 666, as an example. |

Same here, 6-Midnight this Saturday. I'd go for the first show (Eden of the East) or maybe all of it since the GiTS movie is the last thing they're showing but I'm going to be out of town. |
