The fandom as a whole, though, is obnoxious yaoi-crazed shippers who don't understand the actual historical tie-ins and just follow it for the KAWAII BOY LOVE DRAMA. On a more positive note, at least they're not the Sonic fandom.

True Name: simplechild	I've been watching Crest of the Stars lately. I'm five episodes in and I'm getting the feeling that the people in charge of the plot were inspired by snails. Not that it's completely detrimental, mind you. It instead devotes time to character interaction and worldbuilding, which makes it interesting.

I recommend it for being very developed in characterization and development, but expect to have talking heads for several episodes.

On a more positive note, at least they're not the Sonic fandom. See, I only got into hetalia right before summer. I think the fandom may have cooled off a bit? I don't know, the only place I go is the hetalia comm on livejournal and there are a ton of history nerds on that. Still lots of yaoi, but since it's an LJ comm it's easy to skip over what you don't like. I'm a lurker anyway, though.
